We really liked this accommodation the most out of the three we had on this island. Very good size with separate kitchen well equipped. Outside area to sit , perfect aircon, internet etc....Ben the host was always responsive and he keeps the property in very good shape. The morn beach is a 5 min car ride away although we almost preferred to go 15 min north to a more tranquil area. Supermarket and restaurants nearby.

The bed was very comfortable and good size, the kitchen was well-equipped and the balcony good for rainy days. Fresh mangos in the garden were so tasteful.

the locations wasn’t ideal for a solo-traveller without a car; far to carry your groceries from the supermarket alone, no real close by restaurants, and long walk to the closest beach.

Solo female traveller. Month: DEC22/JAN23. The studio is well equipped with new good quality pans, enough toilet paper, quality spoons sharp knifes etc, salt pepper, 1st aid kit, nice thick towels, just things you don't want to buy while traveling. No sound from other guests! No sound either from traffic, I slept very good. The bathroom is huge. The terrace on the 1st floor is cosy, I don't hear neighbors. During my stay I used the bus. The owner has perfect contact with local operators of trips: dolphins etc, you don't need tripadvisor etc.

'bus stop' signed was removed. If you don't have a car, there is a bus there which can can take you close to the public beach. They should put the sign back there on the public road. The bus comes very often in an hour.

Entrance door is exactly on the bus stop. Owner Ben was very kind and helpful. High level of security.

Only one small thing, TV was not working.

The property is a little gem, well maintained and has everything you need.

I couldn’t find it at first, but help the owner by updating the Google maps location :)

Lovely accommodation, clean with a pleasant and good location to visit the south and west of the island. The room was large but unfortunately the mattress wasn’t great. The kitchenette fine for an overnight stay and the patio was lovely. We were just scared to death when a large rat wanted to visit but we got rid of him very quickly. The bathroom is lovely and spacious.

Nothing that we didn't really like except the mattress and the visit that we had.

We met Ben who had the keys and showed us round the property, that looks identical to the photos on booking.com! Very comfortable and everything that we expected. Access to the roof enabled star gazing, or at least would have if it hadn't been cloudy. A small garden which the balcony looked over, looking into palm trees with various birds bouncing around. We did walk back from the GRSE supermarket, would recommend driving as the roads were dark but all the cars appeared to notice our lights! We booked Ben as a guide to walk up Le Morne, sunrise hike meeting at 5:30 with the aim of starting at 5:45. I would recommend Ben as a guide, he was very patient and knowledgable and pointed out easier options when it got difficult. We were first up Le Morne that day and it was great having the views to ourselves for about 20 minutes. Walking back down, we passed more and more people climbing upwards, that wouldn't have been as interesting following large groups whereas the early start meant that we could climb at our own pace

Nothing to dislike

This was a great deal! The apartment is very nice and clean with beautiful terrace. Kitchen is equiped with all necessary stuff. There is not much to do in La Gaulette, there is not even a beach for swimming (shore is muddy and water is dirty), but its on excellent location for trips to all must-see locations on island. Nice public beaches are few kilometers far away, so I highly recommend to rent a car (traveling by bus is interesting experience, but its more like crazy roller coaster). Apartment's owner Ben is a very nice person and when we had problem or wanted to know something, he was very helpful. He is willing to be your guide e.g. for climbing to Le Morne Brabant or he can take you on his friend's boat to dive with dolphins and whales (highly recommend!). All in all Pingo Studios was a great choice. :-)

As a european i had a problem to connect my devices to the Type G electric sockets. As there was only one socket adapter available I had to improvise a little and use a plastic spoon to disable the socket safety shutter which prevents me to insert plugs with two pins.

No gated parking, had to park outside on a busy road

Ben's place is a house with for studios. Communication with him was swift and he waited for us upon our arrival to show us the room and give us tips on what to do around. Our studio was very clean and cozy, all studios also have a small terrace or balcony facing the back yard. The accommkdation is a great starting point for trips all around the south and south-west coast and the Black River Gorge National Park (higly recommended)! Also great if you want to hike to Le Morne and then go swim in the sea (Le Morne Public Beach). I would definitely recommend this place to everyone visiting Mauritius. All in all a wonderful and pleasant experience.

The studio is fine, just not very special and a bit basic. Location wise it is on a busy road with no foot paths so you need your own car.

I don’t see how this studio is rated 9+. Is it rather basic and on outskirts of la goulette village.

We found this place last minute - just a few days before our departure to Mauritius. This apartment is great when you have rented a car - it lays in a great area to explore. Black River Gorges Park, Le Morne mountain, Le Morne beach, etc... but you have to drive to get there. I loved the garden in front of the house - the palm trees created a beautiful view. I really enjoyed spending time on the balcony. We could also see the ocean and the mountains. In the kitchen there was everything we needed, so we could make various meals for ourselves. The owner recommended a dolphin & snorkling trip to us, which turned out to be a lot of fun (with delicious picnic) The beds were really comfortable and the room was cleaned every 2 days. There is a really nice supermarket just 1km away from the house. There were little geckos that were eating all the mosquitoes :)

The little town of Le Gaulette itself is not a great place to walk around (and imo not very safe either) The place was tagged badly on the map (the wrong picture of the house was shown on google maps), so we had a lot of trouble trying to get there by taxi. Eventually the taxi driver called the owner and we made it there. You could hear the road, because the building is placed right next to it. Sometimes it wasn't great for relaxation. I missed some more space for hanging clothes / dresses.

The palce was a big, bright and cosy, we had air condition, the kitchen offers you everything you need to prepare a great meal. Our apartment was on the ground floor, so we had beautiful terrace on the garden. The palce is safe and celan. There is cleaning lady every other day.. So really you can be free and enyoi your vacation. The owner answer really fast, if you have any question they are there for you. Great palce to stay in south.

The apartment is near main road, but you dont hear any traffic so its not really a problem.

Perfect spot for me to relax in the SW corner to explore the mountains, forests and falls. The self contained facilities made it easy to look after myself to keep costs down. I even had an unexpected glimpse of ocean from my balcony
