It's expensive to go to Universal studios and stay at the portofino Bay hotel, but at least the hotel covers the price of the express pass at the park which makes it the same cost as one of the lesser priced Universal hotels. Staying at the hotel is like a visit to Paradise. It's beautiful and the boat ride to the Universal Park entrance is phenomenal. The staff here is fantastic and being from a big city it was an unexpected pleasure to find good Italian food right on the grounds of the hotel. Special note to the gentleman who organizes the valet and parking in front of the hotel. This man takes pride in his work and he is extremely friendly and efficient.

There was nothing not to like. Sure the price is exorbitant for a hotel stay in Florida, but it does cover those Express passes for your entire visit and for each member of your family.

while the room was very clean and comfortable, a little dated and dingy. the makeup mirror and toilet paper holder loose from the wall. not really within walking distance of anything except universal. the food was very mediocre for the price charged. the quality of rooms and food does not justify the price.

The fridge in the bedroom was extremely noisy and kept a few of us awake

The Starbucks could be larger as there were always long ques especially in the morning. Breakfast was fine.

The resort doesn’t honor reservations details. I reserved a king size room with water. But what I was offered is a room with two queen size beds. I paid extra to get a room with king size bed but they just ignored that. No refund and no apology. Also, I need to wait for a long time to take water taxi from parks to resort because somehow there is only one shift traveling between the parks and the resort. Overall, the resort looks old. Room service is quite expensive. Two bottle water and one coke cost me $21.
