La Catedral de los Picos es simplemente una magnífica iglesia que se alza orgullosa en el borde del pueblo. El reloj no deja de sonar, lo que para nosotros suena encantador y las campanas suenan especialmente el viernes por la noche, debe ser una noche de práctica. Puede comenzar muchas caminatas hermosas desde nuestra puerta sin ir a ninguna parte en el automóvil PERO, alternativamente, está tan cerca de uno de los lugares más hermosos del Distrito de los Picos: el Sendero de Monsal, que es un tráfico libre de 8. 5 millas, apto para sillas de ruedas, antiguo ferrocarril. línea. Las vistas son impresionantes y están a solo 5 minutos en auto.
Solo una proximidad ideal a todos los lugares favoritos de Nigel para su fotografía de paisaje. Ahora le toma literalmente 15-20 minutos para estar en posición listo para el amanecer, en lugar de 1. 5 horas. Los aldeanos mismos han sido muy acogedores. El pub Horse & Jockey está aproximadamente a 150 pasos de nuestra puerta trasera, lo que significa que ahora puedo tomar una copa o dos. TOTS is a very comfortable house right in the centre of Tideswell on the main street. Quite small but with everything you might need and lots of helpful information and thoughtful touches such as a demisting mirror in the shower room and a well equipped shower room in the small courtyard to clean dogs before entering the house. There are plenty of places to eat and drink in Tideswell, together with a co-op, butcher, baker and an excellent second hand bookstore in a church.
We would certainly be happy to return.

Everything was absolutely fine. There's even a shower room for the dog! Now and then, the traffic on the main road was noisy, which kept the dog awake on the terrace. But inside, we all couldn't hear the noise and were very relaxed.

Aside from the lovely village and perfect location, I have to say that as a seasoned traveller, both home and abroad, I have never found such a well presented, clean, stylish property. Neither have I seen such attention to detail and provision of equipment and thoughtful treats. If I was less thoughtful I would shout to everyone that they must stay here!!! But then I might not be able to get in 🤭

The cottage is simply stunning with plenty of thoughtful touches throughout. It is comfortable, cosy and very well appointed. Communication with the home owner was excellent, and they were very kind and informative. Everyone loved it, and we would definitely love to stay again. Thank you for our lovely stay!

Excellent Location, within walking distance of 2 bakeries, numerous eateries, the Co-op and a delightful second-hand bookshop. Beautifully clean and all the furnishings were of the highest quality, there was absolutely everything you need. TOTS even has a small but perfectly formed courtyard for you to watch the world go by as you drink your morning coffee. Would revisit in a flash!

Really relaxing holiday over new year 2019/2020. Property was close to shops and pubs in a lovely village and close for fantastic walks in the Peaks.

We stayed here over Christmas and Julie & Nigel went to every effort to make our stay personalised and cosy
We loved the use of the multi fuel stove and basically hibernated!!
We found all of the facilities in the cottage to be of a high spec and had everything we needed

Fantastic cottage and location
We loved staying at The Old Toffee Shop. Everything you could possibly need is catered for at the cottage and the quality of furnishing and comfort of the rooms is exceptional.
Location is great and there are some lovely restaurants and coffee shop within walking distance.
We had sandwiches and cakes for the Cherry Tree just across the square and also had dinner at the Merchant’s Yard which was delicious.
Would thoroughly recommend choosing this accommodation as it has everything and with fantastic comfort, design and quality.
Wish we could have stayed longer!!

Beautiful clean cosy cottage
Absolutely beautiful cosy very clean cottage, furnished to a high standard, with everything thought of and included. Bottle of wine and cake upon arrival, comfy robes, amazing beds. Lovely kitchen, living room with a TV for all the channels - plus games, books, magazines and comfy throws next to the log fire. Thank you for a lovely weekend and we look forward to coming back soon.

Great Stay
Pics and description are thorough and accurate. For a village experience, TOTS was perfect. Small, but easily adequate for groups up to 4. Completely updated in all respects. Exceptionally clean. Kitchen well stocked with all the essentials. Location is in central Tideswell (a small charming village), accessible to all things "Peak" but also quiet for those nights at "home". Julie was a great communicator and all arrangements were great. No problem recommending.

The lovely TOTS
It is clear as soon as you walk-in that Julie and Nigel have put so much effort into making TOTS a really special cottage. It was perfect for our family of two adults, two children and two dogs. The decor is lovely and calming and the beds are very comfortable. It is equipped with everything you need for a self catering holiday in the Peaks with plenty of amazing walks straight from the door. There are also some good options for eating out locally in Tideswell and we would recommend High Nelly’s for breakfast/brunch, the H&D bistro also does great breakfasts and the takeaway curry they do on a Thursday was very good. We also ate at the Star Inn one evening - it’s a busy little place so best to book and the food was of a really high standard. We would definitely like to visit again - maybe in the winter next time to make use of the log burner! Thoroughly recommend TOTS and Julie was a great host.

Tremendous TOTS
A very well equipped home from home. Very comfortable beds and good location. Even though TOTS is in the centre of town the road becomes quiet in the evening. The outdoor space is great if the weather is good. It gets the sun in the morning for breakfast AND in the evening for the sundowners. We hope we will be back.

Escaping it all
The Old Toffee shop was a great place to stay for our weekend away with the kids. It was definitely a home from home, with those little extras which make the weekend special. Tideswell has everything a Peak District village can offer. We we definitely return!

What a beautiful renovation! This home was a dream to come home to at the end of a long day exploring the truly breathtaking countryside near Tideswell. The village was wonderful and welcoming. Highly recommend!!!

The location in he village was good, as was parking for three cars. Enough room for 6 people to stay. All impressed with the cottage, we were warm and comfortable.

The cottage was unbelievably well appointed we had such a good time we wish we were still there!
The taffy shop cottage was unbelievably well appointed and remodeled. The village was very very nice people were unbelievably friendly. We had so much fun we wish we could’ve stayed longer and if our vacations take us back to this area we will definitely stay here again.

Luxurious beautiful idyllic cottage
This idyllic quaint cottage is perfectly beautiful in every way. The styling at TOTS throughout is stunning with lots of attention to detail and care making it warm and cosey. It is furnished at a very high standard with lots of thought gone into decor and colour themes including the added little touches like the blankets, lighting, fire, holiday dog lead, dressing gowns and muddy boot basket and room. We even messaged the owners for paint colours and where the contents were from!
On arrival we got 2 bottles of wine and a surprise lemon drizzle cake delivered from the village bakery. You know it’s a good cottage when this happens.
The cottage is immaculately clean and comfortable with plenty of space for 6 plus a dog.
Tideswell brought us beautiful country walks, pubs and lovely food. We enjoyed a meal at the bulls head and merchants which I would highly recommend.
Julie and Nigel made it so attentively enjoyable and were in contact making sure our stay was first clas and relaxing, we can’t thank them enough. I’ve stayed in many cottages but this one I would highly recommend to stay at. I will be returning and recommending to friends and family. Thank you for a wonderful 3 nights seeing the new year in with family.

Amazing
This is a first class cottage. We stayed for 2 days. 4 of us (2 boys aged 10 & 14) and 1 cockapoo. The place is simply perfect.
Every detail has been thought through from cake & wine on arrival to doggie shower.
The village is in an ideal location.

The Old Toffee Shop is a delight.
Beautifully renovated, furnished to a very high standard. Super comfortable & cosy. Julie & Nigel were extremely helpful and provided lots of lovey little extras & treats that made us feel very welcome.

A super family holiday, away from chores and routine, in fabulous accommodation!
We had a fantastic time in Tideswell, staying at Julie and Nigel's wonderful cottage. Our 11 year old son - a huge fan of home renovation programmes and a discerning critic of all things interior (!) - thought that the house was superb in every way: the glossy kitchen, the calming colours and the soft throws and fabrics. We all agreed with him - it felt like we were staying in a luxurious hotel suite but with the independence of self-catering. The village itself has everything that you need to make your stay easy and comfortable: a couple of good pubs, cafes for breakfast or lunch and a handy shop. The area around Tideswell offers lots of things to do and we were busy every day, despite the variable weather. There are many beautiful walks in close proximity, whether you want to wander by the river - our favourite type of walk - or climb into the hills around; cycling the Monsal Trail was also something that we really enjoyed. Thank you, Julie and Nigel, for a fabulous break!

Immaculate cottage in gorgeous location
A truely gorgeous cottage, the owners have thought of every detail from hot dog shower to hotel quality bedding. Recently renovated it is truely a first class property in a central location. Couldn't have been happier, spent a lovely 3 nights albeit very snowy and would highly recommend. Tideswell is a picturesque village with pubs, cafe & shops. Walks from the doorstep are great & coming back to a roaring fire & a bottle of red in The Old Toffee Shop was rather splendid! Book it you won't be disappointed & Julie the owner is lovely and accommodating - first class!

A wonderful post-Christmas stay!
We arrived at The Old Toffee Shop on Boxing Day - a beautifully appointed and really practical base for a few days exploring the Monsal Trail and Chee Valley with our two boys. The cottage was warm, comfortable and a pleasure to call home, even just for three nights!
