We had a lovely break at the villa. It is very spacious and extremely clean. And it has lots of character. The owner is very helpful and took care of any queries that we had promptly. The BBQ area is lovely and well equipped. The pool is warm and well maintained. The gardens are secluded and beautifully maintained - with lots of room for little ones to run around. The place is thoroughly recommended

This was our second trip to Desmond's wonderful villa in the North of Tenerife. Our first was in January and then we were very lucky with the weather and were able to use the fantastic pool every day. In June, our second trip was equally brilliant. Our four year old son was just as smitten this time (as were we) with the perfect swimming pool and lovely, safe, enclosed gardens. One of many benefits of the villa is that you can shut yourself away behind the gates and enjoy the oasis of calm beyond. The villa itself, as many other guests describe, is brilliantly appointed with lovely artwork and comfortable furnishings as well as a super kitchen (and one above the pool with the great BBQ / grill) We couldn't have been happier with our two separate weeks at Desmond's place. Our first visit, we were quickly guided around the property and on the second, handed the keys and left to our holiday, just perfect. Thanks again Desmond for your hospitality!

We stayed for five days and we wish it could have been longer. Such a nice house, in a quiet environment (which we needed, working on a book). Everything we needed was there, including nice weather :-). The garden is beautiful, we enjoyed the swimming pool and the singing of the birds made us very happy. And finally, Desmond is a great host. In summary: excellent! Happy to come back.

A beautiful house with beautiful garden. The perfect place to hideaway from the world and yet close to the supermarket for provisions. A good base to travel around the North of the island. Desmond is a great host !

This home was lovely and our host was quick to respond prior to our visit and during our stay. This is a very private setting with beautiful gardens, flowering trees and an aviary with Atlantic canaries. Thank you Desmond for sharing your lovely home.

The villa was very spacious and clean with the most amazing garden and pool. We had lots of meals and barbecues cooked outside enjoying the views and the sunset. The house itself is well equipped and has good Wi-Fi. The location is ideal for enjoying the beaches on the North Coast with great surfing. Within a few minutes you are in the quaint village of La Orotava, and a few minutes further you have big supermarkets and Puerto de la Cruz. The villa and grounds are in a lovely rural setting surrounded by fields and banana trees. The access road is perfectly adequate for simple hire cars but is more of an off-road track. One word of advice is to follow the owners written directions rather than trusting the sat NAV. Or at least the thing that matters is you come off at junction 34. We would love to come back again!

Excellent property. Huge! Swimming pool super BBQ are awesome. Owner was fantastic when we had a minor issue with the shower. Resolved in under 12 hours!

This is a beautiful Canarian house, full of character, and well maintained. There’s plenty of space for a family holiday. It’s set in a large garden, with a lovely pool. And it’s a few minutes drive from Orotava, which is probably the nicest town in Tenerife. We had a great time staying here.

We felt very comfortable here. The facility is very beautiful and well maintained. The pictures correspond to reality. House and garden are very well maintained and well equipped. The booking and overall communication was very professional. The takeovers and handover also and to the very pleasant. We are very happy to come back.

Lovely week stay in this incredibly charming, well equipped and spacious villa. Highly appreciated the outdoor kitchen and bbq area close by the pool. Location is perfect if you wish to be a bit secluded but still within 15 min drive to Puerto or even closer to La Orotava, both super nice towns. Such a lovely, peaceful villa. We enjoyed everything about it and the wonderful botanical garden with fresh avocado from the trees left for us by the gardener. Desmond was extremely helpful and we found the whole experience very relaxing.

We just came back from a 2-week stay at this villa. And we enjoyed it a lot. Great villa, very Canarian and build with true craftmanship and eye for details. It's a renovated finca and it is situated on the slope of a hill. The road leading from the main road to the finca is a dirt road and although it may look a bit wild at first sight, it's perfectly do-able with any car. The owner, Desmond, is a gentleman and speaks fluent english and spanish (maybe even more languages). Every time we needed to get in contact with him, he responded swiftly and correctly. We enjoyed communicating with him and also with his gardener and housekeeper. The house itself is grand.... Nicely decorated with tasteful elements and nice furniture, you feel right at home when you enter. Plenty of room, beautifully built in closets in the bedrooms, great bathrooms (what a water pressure and temperature!) and a very useful and cosey kitchen and dining room. And then the garden: 5000 square meters, beuatifully and frequently maintained by the very professional gardener Gabriel, an outdoor BBQ-kichten (we bbq'ed on our first day and found the BBQ-equipment to be very good) and a very nice (heated) pool... During our first week we stayed in the house with 4 persons, but after our guests left, we still enjoyed the house with the two of us. The property is totally walled (and the walls are covered with green plants), so we also felt very secure. We enjoyed the birds that frequented the grounds and were not bothered by any rodents or insects, neither in or outside the house. Overall, it was a very pleasant stay in a great surrounding (Orotava valley). We had been in this area before, but were again impressed with the hospitality, kindness and good humour of the people living there. But then again, who wouldn't become a better person living on this side of Tenerife! We certainly hope to come back!

Desmond, I fell in love with your garden. The most beautiful landscaped and well tended garden. Thank you for allowing us to share what was your much loved family home. The property and gardens offer complete privacy and relaxation. You could not ask for more. If you like walking its the perfect location for the National Park and eating breakfast whilst watching Mount Teide appear through the clouds. It was a real pleasure to meet you Desmond. Thank you.

The road leading the last 300 meters to the property is rough and a bit off putting but completely worth the while once you enter the property. A large charming home and grounds set away from the sounds of traffic. Beautifully landscaped property with all the comforts of home. Great communication with Desmond.

As seasoned travellers, you become more aware of what you like and don’t like when staying away. And there was absolutely nothing we disliked about the villa and plenty that we did like. It was perfect for us; a veritable ‘home from home’! The location was fantastic, right in the middle of the beautiful and green Oratava valley with wonderful views of the sea in one direction and of Mount Teide from the other. Puerto de la Cruz is only a 10 minute drive away and offers some fantastic restaurants (do try Talle Seve Dias and Mil Sabores there and the more local eateries such as Titos and Mirador in the monastery). There is easy access to the motorways so you can easily travel to other areas: there is so much to see and do here. The villa itself was far more spacious than the photos portray and had every convenience. It was completely private, not overlooked at all. It was clean and well cared for as you would expect from a quality rental, but it was more than that: it still felt like someone’s home and was cared for as such. The sofas, the pictures, the antiques, the well equipped kitchen, the powerful showers, the airiness of the rooms. The garden was something else and we took away some ideas we’d like to try at home. And Desmond was wonderful; unobtrusive but immediately there with a helpful response to any questions. We loved staying in the north of Tenerife: it is so green and lush and sub-tropical. The scenery is magnificent and drives to Mascar or up Mount Teide can be quite emotional. So would we return to this part of the world? Yes. And would we come back to Villa Jardin Botanica? A super villa for those wanting peace and quiet as well as privacy.The pool is also nice and warm.Desmond is a nice guy who is vey helpful with information about the area.

The villa is wonderful, sparkling clean, good position, but you need a car. There is two restaurants walking distance, the mall Al camp, supermarket Dino and Billa are about 3km. The water in swimming pool was 27deg. The garden is amazing. There is everything you need and you can think about. Everything is tasty, beautiful and we liked it

A wonderful villa and great service from Desmond. The villa is well equipped, spacious and comfortable. The Gardens are the best I have ever seen in a holiday let and the aviary is a wonderful bonus. Location is good, being walking distance from good basic restaurant, or 5mins from town and more exotic offerings. Also 5mins from Lidl or (preferred) HiperDino supermarkets, as well as the Al Campo shopping centre. We had great weather (23degrees in early Feb) although not sure if Desmond can take full credit for that. Can not fault our week. Many thanks

My family and I enjoyed a wonderful holiday in this remarkable property. Desmond met us on our arrival in La Oratava and guided us to the villa, and gave us a comprehensive welcome tour of the house. Immediately we realised that the villa was unlike any other we have stayed in. It is immaculately presented in superb condition, with big rooms, a sizeable and well stocked kitchen and a large lounge. But this is complemented by a fine collection of paintings and antique furniture that gives the house so much character and charm. And then there's the gardens, which are just wonderful. The gardens surround the house on all sides and are not just large in scale and beautifully sculpted, but are filled with a stunning collection of plants, trees an flowers from around the world - this truly was our own private botanical garden. The heated swimming pool and views of the volcano in the distance were the icing on the cake for us. All in all we were delighted with our stay and would wholeheartedly recommend the villa. We came for some sun and peace by the pool, and had a wonderful stay. The house is 100 years old and charming, with good modern bathrooms. The grounds are lovely, with tropical plants and resident canaries. We particularly enjoyed the barbeque area above the pool for breakfast in the sun, and evening meals. The owner was off island on our arrival, but made sure we were met and guided to the house, which otherwise might have been difficult to find in the dark. He also provides a good guide to the island, including restaurants and supermarkets a short drive away. In the third week of October, daytime temperatures were between 21 and 25, tending to cloud over in the afternoons. We had one wet day, perfect to go to the Siam Waterpark, much enjoyed by our 3 teenagers.

This is a characterful comfortable house with amazing grounds and pool. We stayed here in September and felt completely at home it is very private yet amenities and the towns of Oratava and Peurto De La Cruz are only a five to ten minute drive away. Desmond is a delightful host and respected our privacy. Excellent information provided. Would highly recommend.

This amazing house and gardens is hard to beat, this is our tenth time renting in north tenerife and this is far and away the most amazing property we have stayed in. The gardens are a botanical heaven, Desmond, the owner is a gentleman and the views and comforts are incredible. We will definitely be coming back. M Swords

Everything the brochure said and more!. The villa is lovely and spacious and the gardens are beautiful. The bird song and Kestrals, nesting in the palm trees outside the front door, are worth the stay. Ok the Motorway and shopping complex are not far away but other than some slight road noise they do not intrude. The pool is amazing and the water so warm. Desmond could not be more helpful and it was a pleasure to meet him. We look forward to returning in the future.

Have just returned from an amazing week in this beautiful villa and can't thank Desmond the owner enough he couldnt have been more helpful. Its everything the description says and more we only went out 2 days as we had everything we need right there, the pool was wonderful, as was the BBQ area, the garden was really pretty and the villa itself was lovely. Normally pictures make things look bigger than they are but these certainly dont exaggerate there was so much space everywhere. Would love to return one day.

The house is beautifully situated at the northern end of the island (which is the lush, not desert, end) and far away from the noisy tourist end. The house is exactly as shown in the pictures. With four bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms, it was extremely comfortable for our family gathering. The pool is very pretty and we loved waking up to the sound of canaries singing in the aviary. The house is close to many important sites and there are interesting restaurants close by. We always book houses with Homeaway when we travel - this is one of the best stays we have had. Thank you Desmond for being so attentive when we first arrived and being available to answer questions whenever we called.

This is a lovely property only 5 mins from the town. It has everything you need and more for a relaxing and private stay. The owners are non intrusive, very helpful and will accomodate your every need. Would certainly consider rebooking for a future holiday!

What a stunning villa we couldn't have been happier here! Stunning exterior, interior, garden, pool & views. Made our sons first abroad holiday a truely memorable one. The grounds are beautiful & well maintained with lots to explore. The BBQ area is gorgoues, very well equipped with lots of seating & outside lights which made it perfect to just sit & relax in the evenings. Truly idyllic - quite the best villa we have ever stayed in. The garden & pool are spectacular and extremely well maintained and the villa itself is more like borrowing a beautiful home for the week rather than a rental.
