Spent a week here with friends and families. First impression as we entered the house was wow! Loads of space for us all, log burner lit in the evenings, the lawn and grounds were lovely with occasional call of peacocks. Just needed another week or so to further explore Devon.

We recently stayed here for a week with friends and our children. It was a lovely place to stay! We played games in the garden and explored the grounds on the sunny days and on wet days it was lovely to relax and enjoy the huge living room and fire. The kids loved how big the house was for playing all kinds of games, and my husband managed to spend time drawing in the dining room as he loved the desk by the window. It was also a really good base for all the places we visited. Thanks for letting us stay in such a lovely place, I don't think there was a thing that wasn't thought of to make it enjoyable . We had a great time!

Lovely property and perfect for a holiday with several generations of the family. Everything was provided (towels, linen, plenty of cooking pots, crockery etc). Amazing gardens and grounds in a very peaceful location. Everyone agreed that we should like to return for another stay in the future.

We were completely blown away by the size and period detail of this property. Nine of us (of various ages, big and small) enjoyed a week in this wonderful house. Brilliantly equipped for self-catering, with comfy beds and nice linen/towels, we couldn’t have asked for more. Communication with the owner was outstanding and the generous welcome hamper a very thoughtful touch. We loved waking to the birdsong, and hearing the peacocks at night. Truly special. We hope to return. Thank you.

Spacious yet cosy period property - the perfect venue for our family get together - plenty of space for everyone, everything and more provided to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. Amazing garden perfect for family outdoor games and beautiful woodland walks - we were so lucky the bluebells were in full bloom!
Heather is an amazing host - she thought of everything and answered all our queries promptly - have to give her 11 out of 10 for communictaion and friendliness!! It was a special occasion for us and Heather made it even more special.
We hope to be back one day.

We arrived at this lovely house and immediately felt at home. Nine of us in all, various ages. Heather had been in touch with us before we arrived and was also available by text during our stay. Heather sent a gift for the younger children and also left a hamper with some lovely produce and a bottle of champagne.
We made use of the log fire in the sitting room the first day as it was raining. It was really easy to light.
One son and his partner cooked for all of us, during our stay, and they found the Kitchen fully equipped for their needs.
The BBQ also was put to good use. Buckfastleigh and Ashburton have very good shops selling fresh local produce.
The garden is large and safe, plenty of room for playing Badminton, (not very well), but with enthusiasm.
Bedrooms were large and we all slept well in the comfortable beds.
There is an impressive library throughout the house. Everything from the Richard Feynman Lectures to the classics, travel books and books for the children.
Out and about: We used the outdoor pools at Ashburton and Buckfastleigh, Horse Riding on Dartmoor for some of our party. Car rides to Paignton Zoo and Beach.Visit to Greenway, Totnes and much more.
We would like to have spent more time in the house and gardens. Heather's personal touches shows how much she cares and wants you to enjoy her home.
All in all a wonderful stay in a beautiful house.

From the moment we arrived we felt comfortable and at home. The house is so well equipped with lovely furnishings and exquisite stained glass windows and the whole ambience is warm and welcoming. Our border terrier loved the vast grounds, where peacocks roam freely and we enjoyed playing boules and croquet on the lawn. The weather was beautiful and we enjoyed barbecues with our friends. The local pub does excellent meals and the pubs in Buckfastleigh are a short drive away. We took the train from Buckfastleigh to Totnes and were lucky to see a huge otter in the River Dart by the station. We have already recommended this property to several friends and know that they will not be disappointed.

We had a great week in this property. The house itself is wonderful, beautiful architecture with lovely furniture. It is well equipped with maps, walking guides etc. The kitchen is set out well and has all you need to cook meals if you choose to do so. The gardens are lovely and the house is in a beautiful part of Devon with easy access to walks on the moors. Heather could not have been more helpful in ensuring that all our needs are met.
Overall highly recommended.

We spent New Year in Heather’s wonderful property. From the moment we arrived we all felt at home, from welcoming hamper to log filled baskets. Heather had taken care of our every need and totally unexpected, sent presents for my four grandchildren as she was in France at the time - totally overwhelmed. Book this property you will not be disappointed.

10 of us stayed for the Christmas period in this beautiful house, I was worried at first that we would all fit it due to the fact of us being two families but I should not have as we fitted quite comfortably. The sitting room with its cosy sofas and log burning stove and beautiful Christmas tree with sparkling lights meant we could all snuggle in for the evening watching “It’s a Wonderful Life” perfect!
We visited the Abbey at Buckfast which was breathtakingly beautiful, we went on long walks with the dogs, visited the local pub, met the alpacas, and stroked a few sheep, in the garden of a morning the family of peacocks would visit. I could not have wished for a better Christmas, the house was amazing and we laughed so much, sitting around the dining room table sharing our day with people we hold dear .......How lucky are we! Thank you to Heather for making our stay so comfortable and letting us book your wonderful home. Would definitely recommend!

I have to start by saying that Heather (Owner) is the most friendly, helpful and accommodating host you could wish to have. Going the extra mile is an understatement. Heather acts as a one woman concierge service. We were staying at the house due to our daughters wedding in Ashburton. Heather took it upon herself to provide phone numbers of taxi firms and contacted one in particular to see if they had an 8 seater minibus etc. She could not have done more for us if we were family. The house is amazing, full of character. Everything works. Shower nice and hot. The drawing room is large and cozy. So relaxing in this room. Difficult to stay awake when the wood burner is being used. Did not sit out in garden as wedding preparations took up all our time. The garden is very large, well kept and very peaceful. I have no doubts at all in recommending this house.

On arrival at Hewson Court, we were speechless. The house is magnificent, the gardens spectacular and the location perfect. Before we even arrived Heather had impressed us with her communication and correspondence. Her attention to detail is extremely impressive, making the stay even more perfect. We had the best week ever, exploring the local area and wider delights of Devon. We did not want to leave, we will certainly be back.

We had a wonderful family vacation here - the host Heather was a delight to deal with and she made the whole experience that much easier - from the welcome hamper and champagne right through to the ability to check in early - definitely recommend

We had a fabulous week in this beautiful house. There were 9 adults and 3 children and there was plenty of space in the house with everyone's needs catered for. The house was so well equipped that it was like staying in someone's home with lots of little extra touches. The children's own toys were hardly unpacked as they liked the variety available there. Having all of that space in the garden meant that hours could be spent out there. It was just a shame we couldn't make more use of it due to a few days of rain but we easily found plenty to do in the area. The house appears to have been recently decorated in keeping with all the period features which make it special. We wouldn't hesitate to stay again or recommend it to others.
