Chalet in the Portes du Soleil
Este tradicional Savoyard Chalet ofrece alojamiento independiente para hasta 8 personas con un alto nivel. Hay espacio en la sala de estar para descansar frente a la estufa de leña. Una cocina grande facilita el servicio de comidas y el diseño abierto significa que los cocineros no están excluidos de las bromas sociales. Chalet Dow es una excelente base de verano también.

ACCESO A LOS ASCENSORES: El ascensor más cercano es el ascensor de La Panthiaz en La Chapelle d'Abondance, a solo 700 metros del chalet. A lovely property spotlessly clean with everything you could ask for to make your stay go smoothly.

Its been 35 years since I skied in Chatel, its got bigger!!!
The chalet is located 5-6 miles from the main ski school area of Pre La Joux. It takes about 10 mins in the car. Parking is easy if you arrive early at Pre La Joux say 08:15am, time to relax have a coffee put the boots on and get the kids into Ski School.
There is an Inter Mache supermarket near the chalet, with cheap petrol and everything you will need. Be aware supermarkets didn't seem to open on Sunday and nothing after 7pm, so dont arrive late and expect to buy food.
Parking in Chatel is scarce, so we went the other way into La Chapple and found lovely restaurants.
So back to the Chalet, as the title says it was great. It was clean, and all the items that make a stay easier were present.
Would I recommend Chalet Dow...yes, the hosts Rebecca and Sam gave very helpful advice, which we took. (such as the ski rental at Vertical Horizons, James was very helpful).
Our family was very comfortable at Chalet Dow.

Everything we needed to enjoy a week away as a family, skiing area was a short drive away, the house had a great social space and a really relaxed feel. Communication with the host was friendly and helpful, highly recommend.

Perfectly situated between Chapelle d'Abondance and Chatel. Nice cosy chalet with a very extensive inventory. The double bed room in the cellar is perfect for a 2nd couple because it has its own privacy and bathroom. Very clean.

Great accommodation for family skiing week - more than enough room for 4 of us to spread out and everything we needed for cosy evenings and cooking. Beautiful mountain views, very picturesque. There is a ski bus service but you need 2 linked buses or a bit of a walk - we found the best option was to drive to le Linga or Pre la Joux (free parking) or for the Super Châtel lift in the centre just drive the few hundred metres to the sports centre bus stop and leave the car there all day. Nice & close to Intermarché for food and Chapelle-d’Abondance has plenty of restaurants as well as Châtel.

A perfect holiday. The chalet was amazing - comfortable, great location and fabulous views. It had everything we needed.
We had a great 2 weeks and it made up for missing the last 2 years due to Covid. Sam & Rebecca are super hosts. Thank you so much and looking forward to returning.

We stayed in Chalet Dow for a short ski break in early March. The chalet is beautifully situated, extremely cosy and well-equipped - the log fire, terrace and large kitchen were particularly welcome. The owners were very quick to respond to any questions, and have clearly put a great deal of effort into making Chalet Dow into a lovely family-style property.
We would thoroughly recommend Chalet Dow to anyone looking for a place to stay in Chatel.

The chalet was ideal for our party of seven; well laid out, clean, comfortable, warm and practical. Although we visited for the snow, it would be equally good for a summer holiday. The views of the mountains are spectacular!
In the main living room is a couple of leather sofas in front of the log fire with a large table in the kitchen area - perfect for family meals and games. Outside is a furnished veranda and patio.
The chalet is a mile or two from Chatel and, although there is a bus service nearby, it is probably easier to reach the town and slopes by car. Chatel itself was very lively in the evenings with many restaurants and bars. The Intermarche supermarket is within walking distance from the chalet.
We would thoroughly recommend a stay here!

La Chapelle d'Abondance - unspoilt village
Good time visitng daughter who came to La Chapelle in 2008 but never left. Beautiful village with good facilities, restuarnts and bars.
Excellent for trekking, walking, climbing, mountain biking etc. in the summer and skiing in the winter.
Chalet Dow is well located for families, clean and has all the necessities.

A fabulous stay, with wonderful snow conditions
Chalet Dow is warm and cosy, we never felt crowded even with a full house of 8. The living area was spacious with beautiful views across the valley and the mountains beyond. We had a fantastic family trip and the chalet provided all we needed. Everyone has vowed to return. Thank you for sharing your wonderful home in the Alps.

Fantastic choice of access into the Potes du Soleil ski area with 6 stations to leave from.
The layout of Chalet Dow ideal for convivial evenings but enough space to disappear to read if preferred. Equally, if kids are getting in the way, boot them upstairs to the bunk bedroom to play on the Xbox!

Warm accommodating chalet in La Chapelle dAabondance
Jan 7to20th 2017.
Lovely warm (log fire) chalet with excellent views of the valley and mountains. Chalet was adequately equipped for self catering with plenty of crockery and cutlery, although a few more pots/pans would be useful. Chalet furnishing was pleasant and comfortable especially when sitting in front of the log fire with a drink and relaxing. Bathrooms were good and hot water always available.
Really good time there as snow was fresh and plentiful.
We would definitely book here again.

Excellent chalet and helpful owners
This chalet fully lived up to expectation. We had not stayed in the Alps during the summer before and were not sure what to expect. The chalet was beautifully kept and clean. It was fully equipped as described on the website and is in a great position to explore chatel and its surroundings.
The owners were exceptionally helpful, there were unforeseen problems with the hot water and these were sorted and dealt with quickly.
The local area is easy to explore and we loved walking in the mountains. Would definitely return.

The property is ideally located with great views across the valley; easy access to amenities; and within reach of so many different activities (summer and winter sports). The chalet is clean, comfortable, warm and has everything you need for a great holiday. I would recommend this property to anyone.

Wonderful chalet with lots of space & conveniently located
Stayed for 13 days during August. Lovely chalet conveniently located for all local attractions. Easy access to Chatel and the mountains and within reach of Lac Leman and beaches like Excenevex. Highly recommended.

Excellent property a real home from home
We visited Chatel on a skiing holiday in late March and had a lovely time, thanks to Rebecca and the very homely surroundings of Chalet Dow. The whole process was very easy and so well organised. My thanks again to Rebecca and would certainly recommend this property and look forward to staying at Chalet Dow again.
