Great hotel right in the middle of the village. All staff were very friendly and welcoming. Great restaurant with fireplace.

Although there is clearly the intent to revive this hotel which would be great for Toumintoul, there is still a long way to go. The lady at the reception must be complimented for her professionalism and effort - she was the one and only check in- check out receptionist, the 'fix-all person" (for a wi-fi glitch), the night receptionist and the next morning breakfast single waiter and the cook (?). The room was very simple, as was the bathroom with some DYI level work to upgrade the decor. That said, very clean with comfortable beds. Quite challenging was the fact that the windows could not be open at all in a room without any air conditioning (only electrical heating); not sure the reasons for the bolted windows stated as the hotel 'insurance policy" completely justify the lack of alternative where guests need to open the corridor doors if they want to have some fresh air to come in. The very unremarkable breakfast was not helped by the absence of the cook or other professional staff...

Needs investment to justify existence and with the next door competition. The staffing issues and the bolted windows without any other means of air supply were a clear example where more effort is required.

The room was spacious and the bed was good. The breakfast was good.

The kitchen was closed because the cook was ill. We were notified upon arrival, and it would have been good if we were nitified in advance. Fortunately, the Richmond hotel had a table available. The couple that run that were so friendly. We had a good meal there and one of the best whiskies I have ever had.

The manager was very welcoming and kind. The staff were very friendly, kind and helpful too. The hotel room overlooked the village green and as we had superb weather, it was lovely to sit out in the sun and listen to the birds and peace and quiet of the village. The bar had a great selection of beverages and local whiskey. We were a small group travelling by touring motorcycles and we were well looked after. The surrounding roads and scenery was stunning especially the Spittal of Glenshee. A great place to stay if you want a quiet location, central to the Cairngorms and peaceful nights sleep.

The room was clean and spacious, but I would have liked a double bed rather than two singles (fell out of the single a couple of times!). There was a couple of lounge chairs in the dining area, but it would have been nice to have a dedicated lounge area to relax and talk away from the restaurant. But no significant items that I didn't like.

Very nice Personal They gave me great recomandation and help to see the local sights, some special areas to visit which I didn't see in any guide and even borrowed me a bike to be able to see further away parts. Very lovely place which nice breakfast and dinner

Unique hospitality and very warm welcome. The rooms were spick and span. Rich breakfast. Nice location in a breathtaking landscape, ideal for hiking.

I thought the hotel had a very unique character and the staff were helpful and friendly.

Not sure if because hotel was quiet during my stay, but would have like to have seen bar open after 10pm. Perhaps I was meant to ask, but overall seemed an intrusion to be in the bar area, that was what I felt, but this is only my opinion and was the only negative aspect of the hotel, overall. Maybe the hotel may consider also a purpose-built reception area as the table did make one consider what lay ahead.

A lovely warm welcome at this cosy hotel. I was up to run The Dramathon. Staff were so friendly, accomodating and helpful, provided me with a packed lunch and even left bath salts in my bathroom on my return from the run. Cosy log fire in the dining room. Meals delicious.
