From the moment our excellent guide, Neytha, met us at our Iquitos hotel up to bringing us right back our experience was outstanding. The location was incredible and Neytha's expert individually guided trips from the lodge were wonderful. His care and consideration for our limitations as over 60's was very reassuring. The food and facilities at the lodge, bearing in mind we were 3 hours from Iquitos in remote jungle, could not be faulted.
Nothing.

Best Vacation Ever! I love to travel abroad and this has been my best experience! It is all inclusive. 3 great meals a day, a personal guide every day of your stay who completes up to 3 activities a day with you (after breakfast, after lunch and night exploration). Transportation to the lodge and to back to the airport are provided. It is over an hour drive to the boat and then over an hour boat ride to the lodge. Very scenic! The lodge itself is great for those that don't mind simple lodging. Keep in mind you are in the Amazon, don't expect the Hilton. lol. The bungolows remind me of the screened shelters you find in the State Parks. Showers are cold and there is no AC (a fan is provided). You will grow to love those cold showers after a long humid hike in the rainforest! Everyone was super nice and friendly. Our guide was very knowledgeable and eager to show us everything. He even assisted on the Naked and Afraid XL Amazon TV episode and showed us where the contestants stayed!
We spotted a variety of monkeys and birds. We caught piranha's and the chef even cooked them for us! The sounds of the Amazon at night both while hiking and while boating were amazing. We even saw pink dolphins! I would highly recommend this place for the outdoor/nature enthusiast!
Make sure to bring plenty of cash for tipping and make sure you have all your essentials! Once you are there, there is nothing out there (no stores/atms etc). I am glad I brought extra clothes and plenty of long pants/sleeves. The insects were crazy even with bug spray. Also, WIFI is spotty at best. We never had cell service for phone calls the entire stay (we are on AT&T), on day 3 I finally got about 30 minutes of wifi by some miracle. My dad and brother had a hard time since they are always in constant communication with their business clients. If you need WIFI and are one of those that must work during a vacation the WIFI might be an issue for you.

It’s right in the middle of the amazon forest but it’s clean and cozy. Not even a single mosquito in the room. We had 2 private guides bringing us around the forest in a small boat and by foot. We’ll never forget this experience!

This is a unique and one of a kind experience. The lodge and staff are excellent. We thought our guide Willy was the best!

This was the ultimate Amazon experience. The staff is family owned and takes great care in everything from the food to tending to your room. First off, the food is AMAZING. Our tour guide, Alfredo, met us at the airport to pick us up and made sure we were checked in upon our departure. He took us on incredible tours throughout the Amazon including the forests and the the river. He has local connections to villages that we were able to stop along our tours and meet the indigenous people of various tribes. He knows the wildlife extremely well and was therefore able to give us an optimum experience when it came to spotting wildlife. If you are wanting to go to the Amazon and don't know where to start....or you've been before and want a different experience, please look no further. Grand Amazon Lodge treats you like family. The service in impeccable and you will be catered to what you desire to experience from your Amazon Adventure. Seriously.....look no further. My husband and I had never been to the Amazon and went into the completely blindly. We chose this resort and it was the best decision we could have made for our trip into Iquitos and into the Amazon and back. THANK YOU GRAND AMAZON LODGE AND TOURS!!

After making our booking, we got a reassuringly friendly message from Lodge staff about our various preferences for our trip. Our guide Johnny was waiting for us at the airport and remained our very own private guide for the entire trip. Johnny was the perfect guide to explore the Amazon. His knowledge of the flora and fauna was truly impressive and was always conveyed with a lighthearted but respectful attitude. Thank you so much Johnny for sharing the Amazon with us! The accommodation was very comfortable, with very securely installed mosquito nets all around each of the lodges buildings.
