Seaside House With Shore Frontage And Beautiful Views

We love this property and will come back every year, if we can!! The house has everything you need and lots of room. The beachfront is ideal for treasure-hunting and fun for all! Thanks to Heather for sharing her family home.

Our stay in this beautiful home was wonderful! The house was very clean and had an amazing view. The beach was only a few short steps away, and it was fun to watch the boats out on the water.
Jonesport is a quiet, friendly town with beautiful views and several places to hike. We would love to stay here again!

We love downeast Maine and wanted to be able to easily access the area from Schoodic to Lubec. This cottage was the perfect location between the two and in the heart of blueberry country. It had everything we needed to make our stay very enjoyable. We loved the big picture window in the kitchen where we watched the birds every morning. With restaurants in the immediate area limited, the kitchen was perfect for cooking-in with modern appliances and cooking supplies. Would definitely stay here again.

After the death of a close family member Jonesport and McCollum House was just what I needed to regroup. Jonesport isn’t a bustling community, but the sound of lobster boats in the early morning, and just sitting on the deck overlooking the Reach was healing. The home is clean, well equipped and the hosts very accommodating. If you’d like to decompress Jonesport is the perfect place.

You’ll awake to the soft sound of lobster boats leaving the Reach and from there it’s up to you. If you’re into hustle and bustle head over to Bar Harbor or if you prefer quieter pursuits try a shoreline hike, or harvesting mussels on Great Wass for dinner. The hosts are attentive and welcoming and the home is well appointed if cooking is your thing. There’s nothing like being in “The Real Maine East of Ellsworth.”

Off the beaten path, away from all of the "hubbub". This place is a beautiful two story home in a small, quiet town. We really enjoyed the view of the ocean from our bedroom and kitchen window! I am so happy to have chosen this place for our stay in Maine. It was not far from town and if you drive a little futher, you will reach the busy, tourist area of Bar Harbor. Great Wass Island was not a let down at all and I would love to go back!

Very clean.
Nice view from the kitchen and deck. A nice, well-equipped kitchen for those who like to cook.
Good chairs for people who like to read.
Great for people -- such as I -- who like to swim in cold water.
The area -- Washington County, Maine -- is a joy for its scenery and clean air. Lots of places within 40 minutes to go for beautiful walks.
What was a plus for me that might not be ideal for others? Not many restaurants close by. Plan on cooking at home, at least for a few meals.

The McCollum House is a beautiful home in a fabulous location. The hosts were responsive to all queries and the home is well appointed. It really is a home away from home. The location is very quiet and the early morning sound of the lobster boats is a delightful way to awake. We enjoyed our stay and plan to return soon.

Very warm and inviting house that was family-friendly (and super clean!). It is a very relaxing spot and a great jumping off point for exploring Downeast Maine. Thank you, Heather, for all the information you provided in the binder - very informative!

We loved our stay here. The house is very well equipped, clean and very well adapted for a stay with kids with the large kids room. The view from the master bedroom on the sea and boats is great. We rented a kayak for a few days (delivered at the house) and went discovering some islands. We went every day to sandy river beach 5 min away where kids played in the sand and zven swam in the sea. The neighbours were all very nice and welcoming and the Jonesport is a nice place. Really recommend it.

Our family of 5 (2 10's, 1 13) found this the perfect mix of entertainment and relaxation. My parents also joined us for a few nights. The set up is conducive to older kids with an amazing bunk room located downstairs and 2 main bedrooms upstairs. The bunk room has its own 3/4 bathroom and the 2 upstairs share a bath (not en-suite).
There is plenty of parking and the setting is very peaceful and the feeling has more privacy than it may appear. The rooms and sheets and beds were all super comfortable and we took advantage of the washing machine and dryer but also hung-dry our clothes on the line. The Master overlooks the bay and the breeze off the water is so nice! Some windows have been updated, while some may be original. The only small wrinkle was not all windows had screens in the other bedroom, which would have been nice. As long as the wind is coming off the water the house stays cool and the climate is very comfortable.
We found the living room more comfortable than I expected from the photos, with plenty of room for us to enjoy a family game and watch a little TV. We spent the most time in the kitchen-dining room with its large picture window looking over the water, with windows that opened well to allow the breeze. The kitchen is stocked with just about everything you could want and more! It’s spacious and well laid out and everything works tip-top! There’s also a large 4-burner grill, a small charcoal grill, and a portable fire pit with all the accoutrement for s’mores, roasting hot dogs, etc! There is plenty of well dried wood available, too!
Great wifi/internet, plenty of outlets and extension cords. There is also an Xbox, a Playstation, DVD players, a TON of movies, games (both digital and not) and even some toys our kids enjoyed discovering. The detached barn/garage has corn hole, can jam, bocce, croquet, fishing gear, and more! I would not recommend biking around town; it’s a small road. But you can walk the town, and over the bridge on sidewalks. They are currently (August 2020) doing construction on the bridge, so a bit noisy. It will be nice when done!
There’s not a lot in the town to do/see; it’s more about relaxing. You can walk to the lobster port about 100 yards away and buy a lobster, but nobody is making you a lobster roll unless you’re up to the task yourself! : ) A short drive north in Machias is a Hannafords and Helen’s Restaurant for some of the best pies, fish chowder and fish & chips! More stops south on Rte 1. A+

Heather and Braden have a very well laid-out, well-thought-out home. I would love to have their house on the shore in Maine! Very well stocked with everything you could possibly want for a weekend, a week or a month at the beach. It was very clean, instructions were very clear, with lots of things to do. Super friendly neighbors, just can't go wrong, we'll be back, same time next year, hopefully. Thanks for being an accessible host!

We absolutely loved our stay in Jonesport at the historic McCollum house! My family of four plus my parents had plenty of room and enjoyed every morning in that beautiful kitchen! The house is updated well while keeping the history of the house intact... it felt just like visiting family! The kids LOVED the bunk room, plenty of space and the game systems and toys (both inside and outside) kept them entertained and happy on the days we stayed on-site to relax and rest. The house is in the perfect location to take advantage of Canada one day and Acadia the next - couldn't ask for better!Working with Heather (and meeting her father who was staying a short walk away) has been easy and pleasant. I would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a lovely Maine experience! <3
