A propos de ce maisonrental
Beach Victorian Bluff!

We enjoyed our stay, and Scott was receptive and quick to respond to our queries. The home me is clean and the location is Beautiful. The area is peaceful and very quiet. Seeing the Milky Way and planets was a treat I haven’t had since I was as a child and light pollution wiped them from the sky. . One couldn’t ask for more

Wonderful view, enjoyed the lobster boats coming in and out on their daily work. I plan on coming again. This was a vacation that took a very long time for me to take. Being a business owner I needed the solitude. Thank you Jonesport for being that respite.

We throughly enjoyed our stay in Jonesport. The view from the house is lovely and the peace and quiet was just what we were looking for. We enjoyed cooking many meals but also enjoyed trips to Machias for a meal at Helen’s and to Chipman’s Wharf in Milbridge. Wonderful area with friendly locals. Highly recommend it!

Nice spot on the bay. Jonesport is a quiet town with beautiful coastline hiking nearby. Not lots of restaurant choices in the area, but we had a very good visit.

Very charming old house with a beautiful view! Interactions with the host were timely and helpful. A quiet, out of the way place that was a relaxing treat to stay at!

Scott's house was the perfect central location for my mother's & I visit. Lots of day trips! Bring your passport to go to Canada.
The lawn overlooking the harbor was a great place to watch boats, read & relax. We did a lot of beach walking. The beach is covered with shells of all kinds & glass so you definitely want shoes on. Just down the road is Sandy River Beach, again good for walking & that is where I went to read with toes in the sand.
We got clams from Hattie at Moody Seafood & mussels from Bobbie Jo at Moosabec Mussels. Bobbi Jo recommended Look Lobsters for lobsters but we had a family friend in the area that we got those from. We got blueberries from Wescogus Wild Blueberries. Plenty of spots to get fresh eggs from. Mannafords Market in town was a good place to get some simple staples. Of course we had to get some red-hot dogs! The Shop & Save in Columbia was the better store for veggies and produce.
The house was comfortable & clean. The kitchen was well stocked with pots & pans & doodads. There were coffee filters, we did bring our own & ground coffee. Plenty of towels & face clothes. There was detergent & dryer sheets for the washer/dryer.
I stayed in the room that Gene Autry stayed in. My mom was so excited about that. He wrote "Here Comes Santa Claus" & "Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer". Beautiful morning light through the windows. Breakfast was always in the viewing room. There is a TV but who needs one you are staying at the beach!

Perfect location for our photopgraphy excursions. The house was quaint and clean. It was easy to find and the location had a beautiful view out the back. The Pizza shop a short walk down the road was perfect and delicious too! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

One can't plan for bad weather, but this home was a welcome refuge from the storm. Watching the fog lift over Moosabec Reach was spectacular.

Jonesport is an older fishing port. The house is a renovated 1900 home, so floors squeak, only bathroom is located upstairs, but does have a great view of the port. Came in October so Port not busy and limited options for food and hikes.

Great place! Our host was very responsive and the house was very clean and had everything we needed. The views are amazing! Just sitting inside or outside and looking at the water is lovely, and it's a great location for exploring all the beauty of Downeast.

We loved the house on the bluff over looking the coming and goings of the lobster boats. We enjoyed both the inside fireplace and outside fire pit. Great place to recharge.

My husband and I stayed for a week and it was and it was difficult to leave, we both enjoyed just sitting by the fire pit watching the lobster boats go by and watched as they unload their catch just down the beach. We walked along the beach and found a few treasures to bring home, also just a short drive away you can buy lobster right off the boat you will never find any thing fresher than that!!!! It was very quiet and peaceful, I can't wait to have the chance to go back!

I came to Washington County to paint in a beautiful location and to walk beaches in the cooler air of Eastern Maine. I loved the old house, the quiet neighborhood, the fresh breezes here. Sandy River Beach was an easy 3 mile drive when I wanted a quick break, a clean sand beach that was great for walking. Townspeople are friendly and helpful. Although I didn’t explore the area because I pretty much had what I wanted at “home” there’s lots to check out for the more intrepid. I will return.

Peaceful family time by the ocean
We were delighted with this lovely old house and especially the view and the surrounding area. We enjoyed Sandy River Beach in perfect weather, and are some nice family meals in the dining room. My favourite thing was seeing the boats in the harbour from all the Oceanside windows. The town is quiet and full of history.

Great house, wonderful view...
The location of this house was great and made it easy to explore the surrounding areas. The house itself was clean and had everything we needed for the week. It is a very beautiful, interesting older home with a spectacular view out across the water and boats. We enjoyed walking on the beach and watching the sunsets from the backyard. The communication with the host was easy and helpful. We really loved our stay here and hope to be able to visit again soon.

Beautiful house in idyllic setting
Whether it’s misty or clear, waking up to see the lobster boats docked is the perfect start to any day on vacation. The stars are amazing at night without any “light pollution.” The house itself is beautiful and helps you slide right back in time. The kitchen has everything you’ll need. You can but lobsters down the road a Looks and cook them outside for a real down east treat. It was great having a washer and dryer…truly everything you need to get away and a location that can’t be beat!

What a view!!
Our stay was all we hoped it would be. The Victorian is welcoming with wide moldings, bright walls and wood floors. We walked Sandy River beach, Jasper Beach in Machias to collect so many beautiful ocean smoothed stones, the Nature Conservancy land on Great Waas, ate lots of lobster and crab, and relaxed. Scott was very prompt responding to questions and inquiries, What was there not to like??

Special place!
This is a sweet older wooden farmhouse facing the water in a small quiet lobstering community. It's clean, convenient, and cozy, has a really thoughtfully set up kitchen with all the things you would need, many comfy places to sit and chat, lots of charming details, and is near all kinds of amazing outdoor adventures, Maine historic sites, etc. There is only one somewhat old fashioned bathroom which may not suit some travelers, but for our group of 3 friends it was the perfect peaceful and comfortable setting for a magical few days of cooking, eating, hiking, talking and reconnecting. A truly special place!

Great View and Location for Exploring Maine
The backyard is massive and gives you a great view of the lobster boats coming and going. The majority of our time at the house, was spent outside watching the boats, eating meals, and walking the beach. Note that the firewood on the property is not for guest use, and you have to bring your own, which was difficult for us, since we were traveling by motorcycle. And the beach was picked pretty clean of dry wood, so we didn't get to have any evening fires. House itself is quirky and charming, and beds were comfortable. Kitchen is well equipped (our only suggestion would be a 12 cup coffee maker). The location of the house is ideal for day trips to Quoddy State Park, Lubec, Bangor, and Bar Harbor. Grocery store and pizza place are close also. The locals are very friendly and we highly recommend getting fresh lobster from the Beals Jonesport Co-op. Overall, we enjoyed our stay here.

Great Maine Getaway
Spacious Victorian home on the ocean. Very well equipped! There is a grocery store 10 minutes away. The house was perfect for family dinners. There was room for the grandkids to spread out. Owner left a chess game which my son in law took advantage of to teach the 7 and 9 to play.
The back yard was fantastic for outdoor games. Lots of ball playing.
The sea glass on the beach was amazing. We all had fun collecting!
The Sandy River beach, 8 minutes away is a must. When the tide is down you can walk to an island for a hike. The expansive beach was perfect for walking.
Roque Bluffs state park about 35 minutes was a great picnic spot.
If you are looking for a meal out and pie to die for the 30 minute drive to Machias is s must.
For the hikers in your family there Beal’s island. My daughter snd son in law loved.
And every day, the fire put was a perfect ending! Can’t wait to go back !

Owner Very Rude and Combative - Beware! Bathroom Sub-par.
I chose this house as it was close to my daughter's work. Initially the host was very friendly. I then had to contact VRBO the day before my stay as I hadn't gotten the arrival instructions and they were finally sent.
Upon arrival the house had a faint odor of smoke which I reported the next day, it was apparent after the house was closed up that the windows had been left open at our arrival for a reason. I also reported a cockroach in the spice cabinet, a weak microwave and a very, very rusted sub-par shower. As the area is so remote there are was no other options so we stuck it out. On our last day, I tried to use the dryer and found out it wasn't legally vented, a rock was over the hole in the floor! I immediately stopped using it. I reported this as well in a friendly manner and asked for the extra insurance money back as well as half of the VRBO fee due to my valid issues. My request was ignored over text so I followed up on VRBO. This is the rude reply I received. Had I gotten my hundred dollars or even a professional e-mail, I won't have bothered with a review but given the owner's tone, I felt other people should know. By the way as there was no dish rack, I did leave multiple clean dishes on the counter to dry and a coffee cup or two and a plate in the sink as I had run out of room.
From the "host":
It also could not be more obvious with the dryer vent on the floor to stick it out the window (REALLY???). I'll bet you got your laundry dry at the expense of additional dampness in my house. But, you could not wash the sink full of dirty dishes you left. (Got my full deposit back - no extra cleaning charges).
I suspect your complaints, including to VRBO a scam to get money back. You stayed the entire rental duration and I will not succumb to suspect behavior. Also pretty sure you are holding a bad review over my head. Well go right ahead as it will soon be buried in good reviews and I will respond accordingly anyway. I will also be pleased to review my experience with you as VRBO guest.

in the heart of jonesport
this house has been restored and most of the rooms are very nice and comfy. While the kitchen was quite functional an update on the stove would benefit. I would also figure out improving the bathroom - more the shower/bathtub arrangement. with 5 of us staying one bathroom was a minor inconvenience but the position of the shower made all reluctant. We were only there 2 nights so not a biggie, but if we were there a week that might have become an issue. Regardless, stunning views, cozy space and rooms. Would stay again

Fantastic stay
This was exactly what my wife and I were looking for - a place on the coast where we could get away from it all. The house has lots of personality, is in a great location, has all the amenities that you could want, and is just all around lovely. And the host is great to work with. We'll definitely be back!

Lovely home by the sea
A few friends and I came up to this lovely home to explore Acadia for the weekend. The house is incredibly charming and has an amazing location with a huge front lawn looking out on the bay (and not to mention a huge private beach!). We had magical sunrise moments and cozy gatherings by the wood burning stove. Everything was clean and well-stocked for cooking for large groups. We will always cherish the weekend we had here--hope to be back again some day!

We had a wonderful week in Jonesport, and this was a perfect home base for us. We were travelling with three "kids" (19 & 20), and this house gave us plenty of room for both family time and to spread out and have some privacy, too.We spent a lot of time down on the edge of the bluff, watching the boats come in and out of the harbor and soaking up the sun. There was nobody in the homes around us for most of the week, so we had lots of privacy. When we did go into town or down to the pier to get lobster, everyone was very friendly. With the lack of tourists/crowds, this was a perfect escape from COVID for the week! The fire pit was great at night, especially at sunset. We cooked most meals in and found the kitchen very well appointed. We spent lots of time on Sandy River Beach, and drove out to Lubec and West Quoddy Lighthouse--all beautiful (sunrise from Sandy River Beach is worth the early trip). The kids ventured down to Acadia for a day and reinforced that we made the right decision to get away from the crowds! There was some road noise in the back bedrooms, but not a big deal and not an issue anywhere else in the house.Thank you, Scott, for a great vacation--We hope to be back next summer!!
