We loved this property! The house was in perfect condition and incredibly well supplied. A wonderful view of Jonesport harbor and the shipyard. A lovely spot for a peaceful vacation! Hope to return next summer.

Patricia & Sune were so kind and welcoming. We had lobster almost every night straight from the boat. Perfect location out of the way of crowds and traffic. Sandy River beach was a favorite and only a few mins away. The home had everything we needed and you could see and feel the pride and care taken in this home. I would come back every year if I could! We do hope to come back. I miss it already.

What a beautiful little cottage that had most everything we needed. It was so lovely to wake up and hear the lobster boats in the morning and then look out the window of the cottage and see such a gorgeous view. We were there to provide food for a film cast and crew nearby, so we were there to work, but also enjoyed our stay immensely. Patricia's cottage made the experience very memorable and we would love to return someday!

Our visit to the cottage was everything we wanted it to be. We were able to relax and reflect looking out at the lobster boats in the beautiful cove. I did work during my stay and the internet was flawless with no interruptions. The cottage was clean and comfortable with all the amenities we needed. The location was just over an hour to Bar Harbor and was a beautiful scenic drive to do some mountain hiking. Thank you!!

The property was located right on the water. It was a nice house with two bedroom upstairs, a living room, kitchen/dining area and a bathroom. Very nice. Weather was not great while we were there. But, you can't control the weather. We had lots of fun in spite of the weather. Overall, a great place!

Great! We’ve stayed here twice—great deck with view of the harbor, private point to walk on, and sit in the chars at the end. This is a ‘cook your meals’ place-there are a couple of takeout places, but no real sit down restaurants. But that’s fine with me. Very comfortable cottage, fully equipped.

Beautiful cottage with stunning views!
We stayed here for a week, using this location as a jumping off point to going Canada. It was lovely, peaceful and relaxing and I wish I could’ve stayed at the cottage longer. The location is lovely, the cottage was clean, well laid out and wonderful to rent. Would recommend and would definitely come back again!

Wonderful, peaceful
The cottage is lovely, great beds, beautiful view of harbor, private point of land, deck with adirondack chairs plus a table with umbrella and chairs . There are very limited places to eat out ir even get takeout, but kitchen is well equipped! If you need some real relaxation this is perfect. I read 3 books in one week on that deck!

Outstanding location and views!
One of the best rentals ever. Wonderful, friendly hosts Patricia and Sune, and most helpful when we had tire trouble with our rental car. The cottage was very comfortable with an ideal location overlooking Jonesport Harbor. Sun, breezes, fog made the scenery very dramatic with the seagulls and the shore birds
as extra entertainment. The cottage is well found, we needed nothing else - except perhaps having a washer/dryer on the premises. We were there 11 days and did not want to leave.
Would highly recommend Bluenose cottage. (Great hiking trails all around Beals Is. and a lovely beach there and east of Jonesport on 187 north. Not much else though...)

Perfect cottage in Jonesport, Maine
Absolute perfection. Just two of us, so appreciated the compact layout of this cozily styled cottage overlooking the harbour. The workmanship that went into this renovation is stellar, adding to the warm ambience. The owner clearly has very good taste, but also knows how to add touches that just make a difference from the typical holiday let experience. Terry cloth robes, plenty of towels, napkins, sheets, cleaning supplies, tea, coffee etc., The kitchen is very comfortable to work in, which is a plus because there really are no restaurants worth driving to within 20 miles( with the exception of The Early Bird pie cart ( great burgers and sandwiches ). But with great lobsters and mussels at hand, do you really need to go out?
Even though the cottage sits on a point overlooking the harbour, it’s very quiet, so it’s nice to see the bustle at a distance without the noise. Have to mention how private the cottage is, sitting on its own point, ringed by rugosa roses and wildflowers - we found it hard to leave to explore - so some days we didn’t: just sat on the deck with a book and watched the tide come in. Bliss!

Wonderful!!
We really enjoyed our time here. Bluenose is a lovely cottage with everything we needed! The setting of the cottage is absolutely beautiful. We enjoyed watching birds and the water. The location is good for exploring the Down East Maine coast. It was a great week in a peaceful place.

Perfect Quaint Spot
My second year at the Bluenose. I enjoy the area very much. Away from the traffic of Acadia and wonderful scenery.
Great Wass cannot be missed. Sunrise trail is great. Right at the house you can play in the tidal pools or pull some clams.
Thoroughly enjoy the spot.

Peaceful getaway
We were looking for a laid back getaway and this was perfect. Great location for hiking and relaxing. The cottage was wonderful to come back to after exploring the downeast area. Well appointed and clean with great hosts. We will definitely be returning!!

you won't be disappointed!
We usually stay in the Acadia area, but tried a different location this visit and it was fantastic! First of all the cabin is so cute and immaculately clean. Everything you need is there AND a wonderful view of the water to top it off- so relaxing. We explored Waas Preserve and Quaddy State Part, both were fantastic and not crowded like Acadia ,but with views just a wonderful. Hope we can make it back again!

Quiet and relaxing
We really enjoyed our stay at the cottage! Tons of hot water--no cold showers here! Bed was comfortable. Well equipped kitchen and amazingly sharp knives. Lovely place to wake up in as the cottage is bathed in sunlight in the mornings. Lots of comfy cushions for all the chairs. No mosquitoes at night so it was possible to sit out on the deck. Patricia was a great host, very welcoming and communication was great. Really loved watching the bay with the boats. Awesome location--you're super close to beautiful hikes on Great Wass, and under an hour's drive of many hikes to the south (Ingersoll, Petit Manon) and to the north (Cutler Public Lands, Rogue Bluffs, and Jasper Beach). Because the cottage is on a working harbor M-F during working hours we could hear an air hammer in the distance, but it wasn't intrusive or a problem. The cottage is set a few houses back from the main road so we weren't bothered by traffic noise. Seems especially well suited to families with kids, not as ideal for a romantic getaway as there isn't a couch and/or a set of chaises to snuggle up while reading or watching a movie together, although there are multiple upright chairs with comfy pillows and a small loveseat. Tons of wildlife right outside your window--easy to spend all day on the deck looking at the bay! Would definitely come back.

Wow, What a View!
We absolutely loved our stay at the bluenose cottage. It was comfortable for our family of four (Girls ages 7 and 9). We loved exploring on the rocks and collecting sea glass. Most importantly the view is breathtaking. We loved watching the lobster boats go in and out enjoying our coffee on the deck. Buy some lobsters at the pier and enjoy them on the deck! Life slows down in Jonesport and it’s fantastic.

The photos don't do it justice!
This place is just magical. Right on the water but with a grassy yard for our daughter to play in. Clean and comfortable, the deck is a perfect place to watch the tides come and go. Will definitely go back!

Beautiful little cabin!
We loved this gorgeous cabin. Impeccably clean and well appointed. The views from the deck were exactly as pictured. Relaxing and comfortable. Perfect spot to re-energize after a day exploring the area. Visited Acadia, Bangor, Machias, Lubec, NB and places in between! Don’t miss wild blueberry land! The baked goods are incredible! Can’t wait to return. We miss this sweet cabin already!

Lovely get-away on beautiful Maine coast
We had a lovely week in the Bluenose cottage in Jonesport. The cottage is beautifully put together and immaculately clean. It is tastefully decorated ( but nothing we were terrified our children would break), everything we needed was provided. Patricia and Sune were welcoming, hospitable and flexible with our needs.
The cottage is small -- one room upstairs with a double bed that has a door, and one room upstairs with twin beds that had a curtain rather than a door. This worked well for our family of four. The views of the harbor from the front room and the deck are lovely. Jonesport has a dramatic tide, so when it was in the cottage seemed close to the water, but when the tide is out the river that runs next to it seems like a stream and many more of the boulders are revealed. Our boys (8 and 6) spent many happy hours climbing on boulders and collecting sea glass. They've also mowed an area of grass next to the cottage and paths between bushes down to the water's edge. My boys insisted the paths were secret ones and enjoyed playing around the grassy areas too.
Jonesport is Downeast Maine without many tourist trappings. We loved that. There is a small grocery store and several small places to eat -- we recommend sitting at the picnic tables at Bay View on Beals. We did most of our food at the cottage. (Excellent grill for cooking out.) Machias is about half an hour away and has a larger grocery store, fast food and drug stores.
If you stay at Bluenose, you should check out Sandy River Beach (about five minutes away). You can hike around Bar Island at low tide. We also enjoyed Beals Island, which is connected to Jonesport with a bridge. We enjoyed the beach at Backfield and when on a short hike in the woods near there. For hikers with time -- the Great Wass Island Preserve has two hiking trails with spectacular views of the ocean.
For those looking for a less-touristy, but comfortable and relaxing vacation, I highly recommend the Bluenose Cottage!

True downeast experience
From the moment we pulled in the driveway we knew we had made a good decision in choosing the Bluenose cottage for our week in Maine. The view of the working harbor is quintessential Maine. Quiet, very quiet, the wind and birds make more sound than anything else.
Morning coffee on the porch was spent watching the bald eagles and gulls work the shorelines with the changing tides.
The cottage had everything we needed, dishes, cookware, and appliances. There is a grocery store and a quickstop less than 2 miles away.
Patricia and Sune were wonderful hosts, they run the shipyard next door where there is a laundromat if needed. They were also very helpful in making recommendations for kayak rental and a whale watching/puffin tour, as well as local artisans and places to see.
The Bluenose cottage provided a great home base from which to daytrip, Great Wass, Rouge Bluffs, Lubec and Campobello Island (passports required) to name a few.
Being downeast, do not expect the typical conveniences of modern society. Regular businesses close between 4-6pm, eateries close around 8pm. The nearest Wal-Mart is 50 miles away in Ellsworth. For a sit-down meal I would recommend a 30 minute drive to Machias; Helens is wonderful for seafood and pie, and the Bluebird Cafe is across the street serving regular diner fare.
If you are looking to get away and unplug the Bluenose is perfect. The only distractions are the amazing scenery the area offers. The quiet was deafening, and amazing, and a much needed hiatus from the hustle and bustle of normal life.

A Little cornor of Heaven fog and all
The Bluenose Cottage is indeed magical. Art abounds both man-made inside and devine-made outside. Clean natural board decor is perfectly in place. All is in perfect condition and exceedingly clean. All we needed for two carefree weeks was "eats". Bed linen, towels a plenty, cookware of all kinds and condiments of all sorts, common and exotic. The Noreens thought of everything.
We were looking for a relaxed time and we found it. Spent time looking around Down East with our daughter. but most appreciated were the sights off the front deck. Two weeks of morning Maine fog replaced with bright sun.
We are nearly Maine natives but really enjoyed this closer look at the area further Down East. Highly recommend the experience especially if you are looking for :Life in the Slow Lane".

Seven lovely days at Bluenose Cottage
We spent a week at Bluenose Cottage during the latter half of August 2018. We intended the stay to be a quiet one, and so spent nearly all our time on the property – most of that exploring the shoreline, reading, working, and having tea and coffee in the sunroom, and having meals on the deck looking out at the harbor. The cottage itself is very comfortable, neat, clean, and visually appealing inside and out. We are accustomed to preparing nearly all of our meals at home and the kitchen provided all of the tools we needed. It was a treat walking on the wood floors all day and to climb the little staircase every night for bed.
The temperature ranged from mid-50’s low at night to mid-70’s high during the day. There was almost always a light wind with mostly clear skies, though we had one full day of mist and fog.
We bought groceries and household supplies at the Hannaford Supermarket in Machias and wanted for nothing else, though we did have a lobster roll and Bayview Burger (both of which were great) at Bayview Takeout. The sights and sounds from the cottage are entertaining. The noise volume is low, but the variety is high. We were in the constant company of wildlife including small birds piddling in the yard, ducks, geese, and seagulls swimming in the creek or cove or passing overhead, and the occasional seal. You can hear and see the boats in the cove all day and may get lucky enough to watch a vessel launch at the nearby shipyard.
On the few days that we ventured outside of Jonesport to explore, we visited West Quoddy Head State Park, Bog Brook Cove Preserve (highly recommend visiting the beach there), and Great Wass Island Preserve. We also attended the Machias Wild Blueberry Festival where we browsed thousands of used books and bought delicious Maine maple syrup and maple creme (Gray Jay Mapleworks).
We want to thank our kind and lovely hosts for sharing this gem. This area of Maine is so appealing to us. We loved our stay and plan to return as soon as we can - Lily and Chris

Clean, well-maintained cottage in quiet town
I stayed for a week with my mother in this cottage. It was spotless and beautifully maintained. We enjoyed going to Bayside Takeout nearby and driving around the Great Wass Island Preserve for spectacular sunsets. We chose to visit Quoddy Lighthouse in Lubec rather than Acadia National Park, and this choice turned out wonderfully as there were no crowds in that direction and the landscape was spectacular. I have visited Deer Isle and Blue Hill in ME previously, and this area around Jonesport is more remote and less populated, for travelers who truly want to be away from it all. The hosts were very friendly and helpful. All in all a memorable week and rewarding vacation!

Loved it
We loved the week we spent at the Bluenose Cottage. The cottage is tiny and delightful. The only problem we had was the wi-fi was erratic. But, it was perfect, extremely clean, comfortable and quiet, and has a wonderful view of the working Jonesport harbor from the deck and sun porch. We loved to sit there, watching the boats come in and out, watching the fog coming and out, watching the sunset. We recommend this cottage.

Loved it
My husband and I absolutely loved the week we spent at the Bluenose Cottage. The cottage itself was perfect for the two of us. It is extremely clean, comfortable and quiet, and has a wonderful view of the working Jonesport harbor from the deck and sun porch. I loved to sit there, watching the boats come in and out. It is within walking distance of the library, historical society and the video store, where I would go for the morning paper. It is also near a wonderful sandy beach, just 2 miles past the cottage, and also close to great places to hike in the nearby nature preserves. We also enjoyed our more distant excursions on lovely country roads to places like Lubec, where we found lots of sea glass, but we were always happy to come back to Jonesport and our lovely cottage. The people we met in Jonesport were very friendly and Sune and Patricia were so pleasant and easy to deal with and were always available if we needed anything. We have rented many vacation places for a week, but the Bluenose Cottage was one of our favorites. We look forward to returning soon. We would highly recommend it.
