Excellent Location. Peaceful and Beautiful Surroundings. Kitchen fully stocked with everything we need. Parking was really good. The mainfloor large windows were stunning. The western decorations were interesting. OVERALL: we highly reocmmend.
Two problems: the dryer did not work but the owners responded and said they have ordered a replacement. We did our laundry and hung in on the large deck to dry.
The lighting for the main floor bedroom was poor. We could not get the overhead ceiling fan and lighting to work. One of the two lamps was ornamental, but did not work.

We were very impressed with the property! It had great views of the mountains and wonderful getaway! The space was very accommodating for my friends and I. We enjoyed the location as it was close to many of the activities we had planned- Deer Creek Reservoir and hiking trails.
Communication with Lynsey and Chris was touch and go. The dryer and hot tub was not working. But we had plenty of amenities that we enjoyed during our stay

We just returned from a family vacation for the memory books…a surprise xmas gift for our children. The house could not be in a more perfect location…walkable (even in snow and ice) down to the resort (just around the bend from the spa)…and we were even often able to talk some of the Sundance shuttle staff into rides back up (in addition to the occasional friendly local who just stopped and insisted we jump with our gear into their trucks for a drop off!). The views out the huge windows are stunning—we were so lucky to wake to a winter wonderland each day…the indoor hot tub a frequently used amenity after many hours playing in the snow—either on the slopes or right outside our door. The house is spacious and offers lots of places for people of all ages to spread out (do note that there is only one bed/bath on the main floor…everything else does require handling stairs. Not a problem for our group, but those with mobility issues might struggle). The outdoor fireplace?? The stuff of dreams. Plenty of indoor fireplaces to keep warm and maintain ambiance. They also came in handy when the entire canyon lost power because of the unprecedented snowstorm. No problem, as it was daytime (11ish in the morning) and we relished the adventure of stoking all the fires and cooking our meals in tin foil like early pioneers. As the hours wore on, we started to worry that we couldn’t find any flashlights or candles in the house. The owner, Chris, was instantly responsive and kept in touch with us and Rocky Mountain Power as the hours wore on. At 9pm, Chris and his friend showed up with a newly purchased generator, beer, fresh local bread, cheese, and flashlights. They spent about 2 hours with us, making sure the heat and refrigerator were working…that there was a place to recharge our phones/laptops…and that the driveway was completely cleared. He checked in several times afterwards, even after power was back on (we continued to lose it off and on for the next few days). THEN, I woke the morning before we were scheduled to leave feeling very ill. Positive for COVID. Chris immediately told us to “take as much time as we need” and allowed us to extend our stay for an additional 4 nights while I got well enough to travel. I can’t thank them enough for their hospitality and compassion. It was not our first time to Sundance, but we are pretty sure we’ve found our forever home away from home there, whenever we are lucky enough to snag it. Thank you Chris & fam!

The space was perfect for our family. Plenty of room for everyone. The hot tub and foos ball were both a favorite. It felt cold most of the time even with the fireplace going, and it there were a lot of dead flies around. Other than that it was very nice.

We had a great time at this property! We had two families (13 of us) staying there. It was the perfect size for us plus the perfect spot for the wedding we were attending. The loft area was just right for the 5 twenty-somethings in our party and the 4 couples each had a bedroom. We loved cooking together in the kitchen. We loved sitting out on the deck. Plus the hot tub was awesome! The hosts were great! It's a vacation our families will always remember.

I have rented this property in the past and love it’s proximity to the resort. The beautiful views from the living area and morning sunrise on the outdoor deck were spiritually uplifting. This trip was a thank you to special friends who have supported my annual yoga retreats to Sundance through the years.
4.7
Our group absolutely loved our stay here. We were incredibly close to a number of different hiking trails and took full advantage every morning. We spent our afternoons lounging and grilling on the deck with superb views of the mountains. Perfect rental for any group that wants to enjoy the Sundance area.

The location was easy to get to - and the scenery so incredibly beautiful! The property was designed to take full advantage of the spectacular mountain view and surrounding area. The accommodations were wonderful, very accommodating, and supported and enhanced a delightful family retreat.

Our stay was very magical. The views were incredible and it was perfect for a small weekend celebration with friends.

While we ultimately enjoyed a nice weekend, the problems we encountered left such a bad taste in our mouths that we will not be back. I hope to leave a balanced review that might help consumers better know what they might expect from this listing, and offer some constructive feedback to our hosts that might save them and future guests frustration, distress, and the panic of a host threatening to cancel our booking the night before.
We rented this property eight months in advance to celebrate a dear friend's 40th birthday. He's a fan of tub-soaking, and the crowning glory of this place, in addition to the stunning wall of cathedral windows in the great room showcasing gorgeous nature, was a sunken hot tub in its own spa room, with another glorious wall of windows. The listing's reviews were reassuring. As one of the hosts pointed out when problems began boiling over, this place is, indeed, a bit cheaper than most Sundance listings of its size. Another positive is its proximity to Sundance Resort; I think it might be as close as one can get without actually staying onsite. We enjoyed a lovely stroll on a lit mountain path to dinner at The Tree Room. Other positives: Beds and pillows were on par with higher-end vacation rentals we've experienced in the area. Also, plenty of good quality towels. Outside of these positives a sense of neglect pervaded. Much of the caulk in the second floor bathroom was missing/flaking, the grout was old and stained. Bathrooms themselves had an RV feel, and some, size - second floor toilet was so close to a poorly placed toilet paper holder that most adults would have to sit at an awkward angle. The switch on the lamp in the loft was broken. We had to borrow forks from neighbors. An insufficient number of wine glasses, despite having checked on this in advance. The dial on the griddle: missing. I'm glad we thought to bring pots and pans, as the coating on all of the nonstick pans was flaking off. The coffee filters were the wrong type for the coffee maker. The outdoor dining table depicted in the listing was missing. Most of the above were annoyances to which adapted, though with with impotent shrugs from our hosts. It was their bizarre and panic-inducing communications the night before our stay involving threats to cancel our reservation that sealed it for us. And VRBO allows hosts to cancel anytime, for any reason, with no recourse to renters. To their credit, they ultimately refunded $400 for our trouble.

Still the best of the best at Sundance

What can I say, this place was amazing. I would definitely rent from them again. The views outstanding, the cabin was perfect and the location is prime. Such a great rental for large families. We had a family reunion staying here while all meeting for a wedding. To notch service. The cleaning staff that cleans the property was amazing too. As one said to me, live your best VRBO life while staying here and our family did just that. We had a great vacation, thank you!

We had a great time! Everyone loved the house! The lower level was perfect for our 8 teenagers to hangout and the adults had plenty of room on the main level. All in all Sundance and Applewood couldn’t have been more accommodating or enjoyable!

We had a great time in a beautiful setting. The house had plenty of room for our extended family. The fireplace kept us warm in the mornings and evenings during our very cold, snowy stay, and the sun streamed in through the gorgeous big windows during the day. Our kids had a blast with the foosball table. The house was easy walking distance to the Sundance resort (though we drove rather than walk with skis in tow). We had a few initial hiccups with getting our check in information, but Lynsey was very responsive when I called her on the phone, and we got it sorted. The lit Christmas tree in the great room was a nice welcome when we arrived. Overall, we had a great visit.

It was a perfect weekend for our family. Beautiful scenery with snow covering everything. Plenty of room for everyone. Hot tub was a nice added bonus after a day playing in the snow.

The best indicator of Total Satisfaction is likely our annual and often twice annual return to this beautiful. terrifically furnished, spacious mountain home within an easy stroll to the Sundance Resort with its 5 Star Tree Room Restaurant, legendary Owl Bar, casual dining Foundry Grill, fast and delicious Sundance Deli, and full service Spa. There's ample parking and easy access on two levels, along with all the amenities one expects of a luxury mountain home. Scott

Great family experience. Cabin has something for everyone to do with different ages. Sceneries are amazing. Has all needs for comfortable stay. Owners were very nice, easy to reach. Overall a must, we look forward to booking again.

This cabin was the most perfect place to stay with multiple couples and kids. This was safe, comfortable, a truly beautiful location, and has fantastic hosts! I recommend this to everyone. And the indoor jacuzzi cannot be overhyped!

We had a lot of fun in this spacious and beautiful cabin! Just a few things would have helped with our stay: working washer and dryer, trash cans in each room, warmer blankets or space heaters in the bedrooms. Other than that, it was spacious and our family had a wonderful time together! The location is gorgeous!

When the cabin we had rented for our event became unavailable at the last minute (2 days before our event!) due to construction delays, we contacted Chris & Lynsey to see if we could rent their cabin. They responded quickly and helped us get everything set. The cabin is in a perfect location, and unlike many cabins at Sundance, it has a nice flat, wide driveway with great parking for several cars. Unfortunately for us, we were busy working all weekend and didn't get to enjoy the jacuzzi or game room, but we did love the great view out of the kitchen and living room window. Chris and Lynsey were quick to respond to all of our questions, and bent over backwards to help make our stay pleasant. Thanks so much for helping us out on such short notice - it's very much appreciated!

We loved our stay at the Applewood Cabin. We have never stayed at a cabin where the kitchen was so fully stocked! Thank you for making our family reunion so enjoyable. The owners were fabulous to work with and bent over backward to accommodate us during the reservation process.

This cabin was beautiful and perfectly situated to enjoy our time at Sundance as well as other areas in and around Utah. The large front windows gave us a amazing view of the mountains and surrounding areas. The kitchen had everything we needed to enjoy our meals in the cabin. There was ample space for everyone to relax and enjoy! Each room was nicely furnished with plenty of bedding and towels for our week long stay. The front decks were perfect for an afternoon snack after hitting the slopes.
This was one of our best vacations and we could not have asked for better accommodations than this cabin. I would highly recommend this location and hope to make it back sometime soon!
Thank you!

We had an excellent Christmas Holiday at the cabin. It's very large and spacious -- fits a big group well. Large windows provide a view of the ski slope. The owners were very accommodating and kind. There was a beautiful gift basket upon arrival. Thanks for a great stay.

When I asked my grandchildren what their favorite part of the cabin was they said, "we loved everything"! We took our children and grandchildren to this beautiful cabin the day after Christmas for a Family Gift. It had plenty of room for all of us with four levels. The views were amazing with bright blue skies and snow covered trees and mountains. The garage was stocked with plenty of sleds for all to enjoy on small hills around the cabin. Everyone loved the indoor hot tub and foosball table. The fireplaces kept us warm and cozy on our winter stay. The owners were wonderful to respond quickly with any concerns or questions. They also gave us a gift card to Sundance which we enjoyed walking to on a nearby path. We used the gift card for yummy treats and the extra went for those wanting to ride the Sundance zip line. We made wonderful memories with our family and would highly recommend this amazing cabin!

Chris was so great! We loved the house. Everything we had hoped for! Coming back next year!

The beautiful house named Applewood is an incredible fusion of creature comforts and majestic views of nature, nestled within walking distance of the timeless community of Sundance, offering all that enter an opportunity to explore nature, relax and rejuvenate.

I just had the opportunity to go on a girls retreat to this beautiful location. The accommodations were spacious, comfortable and lovely, a short walking distance to Sundance. There are many great amenities: large sunken indoor hot tub, game area with Foosball table, large open gathering area with fireplace and breathtaking views of the surrounding forest and mountains, plenty of comfortable sleeping spaces for larger groups, lots of seating for talking, playing games, watching a movie, or simply relaxing. The views from the decks were amazing; I was able to watch an incredible sunrise over the nearby mountains. The only possible drawback I could see was that there are quite a few stairs, which might pose a challenge to those with limited mobility, though the main floor does include the kitchen and eating area, the large gathering room, a restroom, and one of the bedrooms. Our group visited in autumn, before any snowfall, and I could see this being a great place to visit any time of the year. We had such an enjoyable time, I would most definitely recommend this location and would go back again!

We had an awesome weekend retreat. 12 of us stayed quite comfortably. The kitchen has everything you need to cook or you can eat out at Sundance Ski Resort, which is quite close. There is a nice hot tub on the lower level, and a foose ball table in the family room. The main area of the cabin is spacious with awesome views. I highly recommend this rental property!
