A propos de ce maisonrental
Caribou Meadows by Historic Kilcher Family Homestead in Alaska The Last Frontier

We really enjoyed our stay at Caribou Meadows. The home was roomy, with all the amenities for comfort. We especially enjoyed learning the Kilcher family history as early settlers of the region. We only wished we could have stayed longer in this great, peaceful setting.

LOVE this property! I would highly recommend this VRBO, it was incredibly relaxing, serene, and peaceful. We had a minor hiccup at check in and the property owner was incredibly responsive and helpful to rectify the situation. Looking forward to visiting again!

We spent 3 days at this beautiful, quiet property. We had everything we needed and a lot of outdoor space with a great view to enjoy. If we had to do it again, we would have made a day out of going down to the beach on the property. We used the fire pit every evening and had a moose and her calf join us the final evening and morning.

This house was great for my family about 15-20 minutes from Homer and had a rustic feel but with all the amenities. The host was very responsive and we would love to stay here again.

This is a must stay property. A moose walked across the yard to in any particular hurry. Also a porcupine graced us with their presence. Peaceful, tranquil and utterly impressive. Come and stay. You will not regret it.

We couldn't have been happier with our stay at Caribou Meadows. The home was spacious, comfortable, well equipped, extremely private and quiet, and really felt like being in Alaska. Moose wandered through our yard on multiple mornings and evenings and Sand Hill Cranes visited us daily. It was the perfect place for our family while we spent time in Homer and the surrounding area. Would highly recommend to friends and family! Hope to come back again someday.

A beautiful place to stay outside of Homer. We saw moose walk across the lawn on two occasions which was so fun!

We really enjoyed our stay at Caribou Meadows. This is a great spot if you're looking for something a little more remote yet still an easy drive into town and the spit. All the basics were provided making it "move in ready" and felt just like home. Great views with a nice hike down to the beach. Catkin was very responsive and quick to address any questions during our stay.

We had a great stay. The property was farther from the Homer Spit than we would have prefered but that was not a huge issue. We enjoyed the privacy and the wildlife.

Beautiful property, quiet and tranquil. Loved the location and the historical significance of the property.

Beautiful home in tranquil location with stunning views. Nicely appointed with comfy beds. Greatly enjoyed the family of moose strolling through the backyard in the mornings! Hard to find though. At the end of the dirt road is a sign saying "Private road keep out" on a gate. No exactly welcoming. We had to call the owner who explained how to enter the premises. The other annoying thing is that we were expected to take our garbage to the local dump to dispose of. Not to mention we were asked to to start a load of laundry of towels and sheets. I get there are house rules, but why am I paying a fortune for cleaning when I did half the work?

Beautiful property secluded , quiet , lovely accommodation and many little extras included . Nice walking areas with wildlife ( moose ). Had a small problem finding the site but host found us and got us oriented . Need a sign and number or arrow on the main road.

The property is just as described. Clean and beautiful, but no frills. We enjoyed the mana moose and babies playing in the yard each evening. The walk to the beach was a little more difficult than we planned on with small children, but had we been more prepared it would have been fine. Bring water and bear spray, just in case. The walk is about 1.5 miles down (and back up) after you park.

Amazing property
The property was nicer than described. Catkin was an excellent host and was always available when we had any questions. The wildlife viewing on the property was spectacular. We saw a moose with a calf and another bull moose. There were sandhill cranes and the views are beyond compare. We will definitely stay at this property again.

Perfect Place
Our stay at Caribou Meadows was perfect. The house was a perfect location, a few miles outside of Homer, with a beautiful view of the mountains. The number of rooms and beds was perfect for our family of 7. The kitchen is fully stocked with all that you will need. It was nice to be able to cook a few home cooked meals after eating out so much. We would definitely stay there again. Catkin was a wonderful host and very responsive to our needs.

Great time at Caribou Meadows
This is truly a unique and beautiful Alaska property. We loved hanging out in the backyard in the endless sun and eating breakfast at the great kitchen table watching for wildlife. We had 7 adults so one couple took the futon in the sitting area upstairs. Not ideal but we made it work! Catkin was extremely helpful and responsive to our needs. Would definitely stay here again!

Nice place to stay in beautiful location. Bedrooms are upstairs, but main bath is down stairs. Everyone staying there must be able to handle stairs.

Best Vacation Ever
Words escape me. We came to Alaska to visit our son who is serving in the Army at Fort Richardson. The property’s as just perfect for our family of five and my in laws. The view from the deck was breathtaking and we loved hiking the Kilcher Homestead trail down to the beach. The home was well equipped and cozy. Catkin made us feel welcome and was responsive to all our questions and needs. I’m still sad we had to come back home. I would stay at this property a million times over.

My husband and I loved our 4 night stay at Caribou Meadows! We had just spent a week in Denali and Seward; this was a quiet, breathtaking view in which we could relax, my husband is writing a book and this was a lovely place to do that also. Loved the Mountain View, cozy house, Comfy beds, well stocked kitchen, great walk to the ocean beach for walking, cool historical homestead. Catkin and Tom were very hospitable. If our kids would’ve been able to stay with us, there was plenty of space inside and outside for them to play and get exercise too!Would definitely recommend.

Realizing a dream!!
We have always wanted to visit Alaska!!! We wanted to experience real life plus the beauty of the land and the wildlife. We were also fans of the TV show Alaska the Last Frontier. When we realized we could make that trip and stay on the Kilcher Homestead it was a win win all the way around. The Caribou Meadow Cabin was spacious and comfortable for our group. It was very well equipped and yet rustic and inviting. The view from the deck is incredible!! We had friends staying in Eagles Rest nearby and enjoyed seeing the sweeping view from their deck. We took advantage of the fishing, kayaking and hiking tours offered In Homer and shopping and dining on Homer Spit! We continued our Alaska adventure all the way up to Denali!! Staying at Caribou Meadows was the beginning of a once in a lifetime vacation we will never forget!!
Thank you for the opportunity.
Dianne and Stan Kirn
