A propos de ce maisonrental
Eagles rest at the Kilcher Family Homestead in Alaska The Last Frontier Kachemak Bay

We absolutely loved this beautiful cabin. The location is breathtaking and the views are incredible. You will love the craftsmanship of the cabin, the welcoming feeling and the opportunity to experience living on the homestead. It was very close to Homer & the Homer Spit. The vrbo communication was great. It was such a positive experience staying here and I highly recommend it. Thank you.

The place was great. Tom was very helpful and nice.

There were 8 of us staying on the property and we had plenty of room, beautiful views, and moose in the yard. It is a short ride to town, but nothing too far. The place was clean and shown as advertised.
I wish we had more time at the property to do some exploring, but our travel plans changed due to weather and didn't get the chance. We did get to sit on the deck with the sun shining and enjoyed the view.

Beautiful home on a beautiful property.
The views are fabulous, we saw a Moose everyday. Comfortable beds, a very nice kitchen, all in all a perfect place to stay!

We had a friend up from the lower 48 and wanted to give him the Alaskan experience, this property did not disappoint! We had a beautiful view of the mountains, glaciers and the ocean. The property was just what we were looking for

Beautiful house, and setting make you feel you are on top of the world. Stairs in the house take a little negotiating with Suitcases but just need to take it quietly. The farm and the history are outstanding and wildlife everywhere.
Highly recommended. Thanks Catkin.

The cabin was beautiful. It has $1 million dollar views of Kachemak Bay! We were there for a super moon and it was fabulous!
Catkin and her husband Tom were super hosts - very responsive to text messages and phone calls. They stopped by a couple of times to check on us.
The walk back up from the beach is no joke! Be prepared! But it's worth it.

This property is just breathtaking, comfy beds, great kitchen for cooking, covered deck area was lovely for morning coffee. Catkin is an amazing host and is very accessible and accommodating! The history of this family and homestead is amazing! It’s close enough to town and The Spit but feels like you in in the middle of nowhere!

This property was fantastic.
Beds were cozy and the house had everything we needed for our 4 day stay in Homer.
The host Catkin checked in multiple times in person or by phone/text to make sure all was going well and even gave my 85 year old mother a ride on her 4 wheeler around the area.
We had daily wildlife visits from porcupine, moose, and sandhill cranes. The walk down to the beach is longer than you might expect but worth it.
The view across the bay to Kachemak Bay State Park is amazing.

This property includes a beautiful log cabin perfectly situated high on a hillside with a spectacular view of the wilderness area across Kachemak Bay. The scene is simply stunning. It’s hard to take your eyes off of it. The cabin is beautifully built, well furnished, clean, and very, very comfortable. Cabin highlights for us: (1) After each full day of outdoor activity in the greater Homer area, we gathered for dinner, relaxation, and conversation in the open-concept main floor, which boasts a large, well equipped, functional kitchen, large dinner table and chairs, super-comfy sofas, lounge seat and ottoman, and big windows to enjoy the spectacular view. We didn’t use the wood stove, which would be cozy on cool nights. (2) A great sleep in comfortable beds and linens. The spacious master bedroom with a king bed includes a massive, full-wall window facing Kachemak Bay. (3) Charging up with coffee and tea each morning before breakfast outside on the covered deck while gazing across Kachemak Bay. Catkin, our host, was wonderful. Communication with her was easy and prompt and she was sensitive to our needs for an enjoyable stay. Indeed - we had a great 4-day stay!

Another Idyllic Stay
This is our 3rd time renting from this owner. We stayed in the bigger home (Eagle’s Rest) this time and as always you cannot beat the views and the coziness. The owner is friendly, communicative and we feel so fortunate that she shares her homes in this way for all to enjoy. Once again we did not want to leave. Can’t recommend enough!!

Breath taking views
Great for our family of 6. There are 3 levels so the grandparents got to sleep up in the gorgeous master and kids downstairs in the bunk room. Plenty of space to gather. Our favorite part was the walk down to the beach.

Breathtaking Views - A True Alaskan Home
What an amazing place! We were so happy with this house, the owner, the location, THE MATTRESSES!!! When I think of an Alaskan home, this is what I think of. We had relaxing down time and when we wanted, we were a quick car ride to Homer. The owner was so kind and welcoming. She had great suggestions - take her up on the hike to the beach (it’s a good one!)

Perfection
This was our second visit to this homestead , different property. I didn't think it could get any better, but I was wrong. Our host and her family are not only kind and generous, but outstanding human beings that made this visit something we will treasure forever! We will come back over and over.
Amazing property.
Amazing family history.
Amazing people.
We consider Catkin and Tom friends and their son, Tony, is an accomplished chef that prepared a delicious meal and is a sweet soul.

Short Stay
Just wanted to leave a short review about the property so renters are not shocked.
Pros: beautiful land and view, manager is very nice and kind - however Is at the house constantly, even came into the house while we were gone to retrieve something she “forgot”
Cons: just so every renter is aware this property is over a mile from the ocean (even though listed as ocean front) you have to drive to the trail to walk a mile to the beach, and you are charged $15 dollars each to hike to the beach (and it’s a hike)
The house is nice, but old. It has multiple bunk beds in small rooms, master is nice, however other rooms are cramped.
At checkout you are expected to strip all beds, take your own trash somewhere on top of a cleaning fee and a “manager charge” which I wasn’t aware of until the day after we left.
Also, AFTER we checked in and had the property rented for months the manager notified us that the entire property would be closed one of the days we had rented… probably should inform renters of this and not charge full price. This was disappointing- so we left a day early so we could enjoy Alaska elsewhere

Beautiful views
We absolutely loved the property and had an amazing time. The scenery was truly special. However... we did not get the privacy we paid for. We wanted a secluded cabin for our honeymoon, but the property owners were around our cabin way too much for that private slice of heaven we paid for. All-in-all, it was a great experience, but particularly because it was our honeymoon and the price isn’t on the lower end, more privacy would have been appreciated.
