Enjoyed the simplicity of the place and loved seeing the chickens and goats! Owner was very friendly- would stay here again.

Let me start by saying I should have done more research on this place before I booked it. I didn’t realize the bathroom was separate, that it wasn’t actually in Homer, and that the cabin was in a greenhouse. Make sure you are comfortable with the type of property this is before booking. The cabin itself has nice decorative touches, and there are lovely animals on the property.
However there is a very noticeable musty/mildew smell in the cabin. Opening a window didn’t help at all. The smell meant I barely slept. The cabin was also not fully clean-the far side of the bed was filthy.
Unfortunately we had to make the decision to leave a day early without a refund. I texted the owner with a polite message letting them know we were leaving early and wondering if they were able to refund any part of our second night. I didn’t even receive a reply, so their customer service is also lacking.

We paid for 2 beds, only one was made and usable. The loft was full of flies and not able to be slept in. There's no indoor bathroom.

For those who like to remind a tv sitcom Green Acres and feel like a peace and love guy in the 70s that is perfect

Inside was nice and clean , fun to stay in a treehouse, but outside needs more cleaning , lots of flies.

The description says cabins but it was a mix of cabins, caravans and tents(?). We had a caravan which would have been OK if it had been in better shape. No isolation and windows that didn't close made it very cold in the night.

The view of the green hills out the large windows was amazing. Fun idea, a treehouse.

The description of the property was absolutely incorrect. It stated “inside room” that there was a shower. There was not. We had a “shared” shower. Also did not advise that there was not a bathroom in the room. There was junk all on the property that you had to carefully maneuver while walking to the community shower and our house. We were in town for a fishing trip and my husband was so sick I didn’t have time or energy to fight and find a new place to stay.

The property is Bohemian. My days of Youth Hostels are past. The rooster got us up way too early! I toured the entire facility including the tree house. It is a unique property!

Cottonwood cabins is a scenic 8 mile drive from town.Darren has created a very unique, personal, and and beautiful environment. The cabins are very personal and Bohemian. The rooster crows in the morning, the small fire fills the Alaska air with a time past. The property includes a working green house, fruit trees, roaming chickens, and rustic charming cabins. The views of the adjacent lands are ethereal. Darren adds to this unique charm with his welcoming attention. Only minutes to the Homer Spit, downtown, and shoreline hikes. Memorable and wonderful.

My friend and I traveled to Homer for a fishing trip and thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Cottonwood Cabins. Granted, its not your traditional BnB, but thats what give it its charm. From the chickens roaming around freely to the tree house common room complete with record player and fireplace, this place has no shortage of unique homey touches. We stayed in the A-frame which was very cozy. It had everything we needed, except of course a private bathroom, but we were happy to take the short walk to the outhouse or the other bathroom attached to the tree house. Kelly and Darin were excellent hosts. Kelly lent us a cribbage board and deck of cards and welcomed us around the campfire, sharing stories. Overall, once we accepted the uniqueness of the place, we really gained an appreciation for it. It was very relaxing and quiet, the perfect place for our little weekend getaway.

We had adventure right from the start exploring the garden and greenhouse where we found a personal welcome greeting at the door of our cottage. So quaint and unique. A very nice break from the traditional cookie cutter hotel lodging. We were aware of the outhouse and community bathroom a few yards from the cotrage but brought a " portable" toilet bucket which came in handy for us older folk in the middle of the night especially when the rain started. I would totally recommend this lodging adventure. Owners very personable and friendly. Beautiful gardens and plants. The treehouse accommodations look like fun options. A real memorable Alaskan adventure. Thank you Kelli and Darren

The cabin we had, the A-frame, was very rustic and basic. The real problem was that the restroom was at least 25 yards away and through a maze of plants, mud and plastic. We arrived about 11 p.m. and would not have found our cabin or the restroom if we had not encountered a teenaget walking in; he was very polite and helpful and showed us where those things were. On the other hand, in comparison to the outrageous prices of accommodations in this area, this was adequate for the money.

Fantastic little tree house. Amazing and sweet hosts! We really enjoyed staying here and highly recommend it for anyone visiting homer. Just a few minutes away from the hustle and bustle of the spit. It's charming and the the grounds are beautiful. It was a highlight of our vacation

The owners were friendly and accommodating. The room was advertised as a shared bath. The shared bath is 60 yards away in another building called the Tree House. The Tree House also contains the common area which is on the third floor and requires climbing a vertical ladder to get to. Wifi is only available at the Tree House. The room itself had no running water, only a water bottle with a spigot and a sink. The grounds are quite cluttered with nursery items as it is a working nursery. There are numerous chickens, dogs and cats on the property which also makes for interesting interaction. The cottage itself was aesthetically pleasing but could use a new mattress.

This was a great experience for myself and my daughter. Who gets the chance to stay in a treehouse.? We loved it! So unique.
