Sorry, I didn't want to choose stars for all of the rating points since we didn't experience them, but was required to. I'm afraid I found the vrbo communication system sorely lacking. I never received anything from vrbo about my requested stay for 2 nights in the days after I submitted it, other than a receipt for travel insurance. My husband and I set off for the destination erroneously thinking we had a reservation. As he drove, I checked for further info and found we didn't have one. I tried a number of things to reach out, one of which was to submit another reservation request hoping it would trigger some kind of response. I was only able to request a stay the following night and when we arrived at the destination, we took a room at a hotel: for two nights since the rate was much lower. I tried chatting with vrbo that night to ask that they block or cancel the new reservation. They could not. They did give me two phone numbers from the host. As it was late, I asked if either was a cell, could I text. They said to go ahead. I texted both numbers to ask the host to please not approve the reservation request for the following night. Sometime the next day, I checked the vrbo app (which I had finally discovered), only to find that the reservation had been approved and accepted. I later tried to call the host who did not respond. I would still like to speak with him to see if we can resolve this, even though it is 10 days later.

We only stayed here one night for a quick weekend trip, but this is a great little place. Communication with the owner prior to the trip was great. The location on the island is unbeatable, easily walkable to almost everywhere. The cottage is well kept, clean, neat and organized, not much larger than your average hotel room, but has all the amenities any reasonable person/family needs. Pets being allowed was a gigantic plus for us, as we travel with our chihuahua as much as possible. Check in and out were extremely easy and painless. We enjoyed it very much, even if for such a short stay. Our only complaint is that we couldn't stay longer this trip. We'll hopefully remedy that next time! It was a great experience start to finish!

Really enjoyed our stay in this comfortable little cottage. It had everything we needed during our time on the Island. We brought our dog along who seemed to feel right at home. Highly recommended!

The good: The location was wonderful, within walking distance to everything and within biking distance to the beach. The main bed was very comfortable and the house had all the needed amenities. Things to be aware of: -Owner was non-responsive. We hadn't heard from them by the day of our trip so we messaged them, asking how to get in. We asked for a message or a phone call. 6 hours later, we were there and still hadn't heard back. Luckily the door was unlocked and we were able to get in. We didn't hear back for three days (a half hour before we checked out). Owner said they tried to contact us but we had no missed calls or messages that came through late. -The place smelled musty/moldy, especially the bathroom.I've washed all clothing and bedding twice now and the smell is almost gone. -The shower is tiny. They tell you that, but if you're short (I'm 5'1), the water will be spraying you in the face the entire time with no way to escape it. If you're a larger person, you'll have trouble too. -There's a creepy hole cut out of the bathroom ceiling. -The pull out bed, like most pull out beds, is lumpy, creaky, and uncomfortable. Just something to be aware of. The bedding (in the wardrobe) had black specks all over it and didn't appear clean so we didn't feel comfortable using it -Floor felt grimy, like it hadn't actually been washed in a long time. I wiped it and the rags came back filthy. Overall we had a good trip, but wouldn't stay here again.

This is small but worked for two adults. Bed for two and pull-out couch.

This place is a cozy one room cottage that is situated behind the main house. It offers the simplicity of one bed, one sofa, one bathroom (with shower stall) and a small kitchenette with a dining table. It's located conveniently just off Maddox and Main, which is literally as soon as you get off the bridge to Chincoteague Island. It's perfect for those who only need a small space and don't want to share a large B&B style house with other guests. And the biggest bonus is the coffee and pastry shop ("Amarin") directly next door. That place has amazing croissants, pastries and coffee. Being able to walk next door to get breakfast there every day is priceless. I was considering giving 4 out of 5 stars for one reason: on our last day of our 3-day stay the water was shut off. I called the owner and he sincerely apologized and explained that there was a plumbing problem at the main house which resulted in the water to both the main house and cottage being shut off temporarily for repairs. Now some people will cry and claim they've suffered immeasurable mental anguish and want to be compensated millions of dollars for their pain and suffering, and then leave a one star review. But the reality is stuff like this happens. It's even happened in our own house, so we get it. The owner Rodney addressed the issue and within 15 minutes of my call to him we had water again. I'd say that's excellent customer service and deserves 5 stars. We would stay here again.

Great location! Walking distance to the main areas on the island. Small but had all the necessities and the host was helpful.

We love the convenience of the location and having the cottage to ourselves. There is a grassy lot for walking your dogs and it’s close to coffee and ice cream. Friendly host!

Great location! We were able to walk to several restaurants and shops. I was initially worried about road noise, because of proximity to the main road, but it was wonderfully quiet and very private! Was myself my husband and our 2 dogs staying, I don't know how comfortable more than 2 people would be, but for us the size wa perfect. The only complaint we have is the floor was not clean, wasn't a big issue we just wore our flip flops. I would definitely stay again if we visit again without the kids!

House was cozy as expected. Shower was small as mentioned in other reviews, not a big deal for us but something to be aware of. Could use a deep cleaning and cob webs swept up. Had everything we needed. Location was perfect for walking to everything. Was grest for us because we had a dog so no complaints. Recommended stay for a good price.

We had a great vaca!!!

Overall the place was fine for me and my little dog in a quiet, convenient location. A couple might find it too small and spare - especially the bathroom. If you are taller than 5’5” or a larger person, the shower will be a problem. I couldn’t bend over far enough and had to squat to wash below my knees. That said, it is very reasonably priced and the bed was comfortable so it fulfilled what I needed for my visit.

My husband and I stayed here for a night to celebrate our wedding anniversary. It is in walking distance of many great places. We really appreciated the stocked kitchen and that everything was ready to go for our stay. The property was exactly as described. The house is off of the road and behind houses, but it is easy to walk to the main strip of shops and restaurants. I really enjoyed the coffee shop next door! Absolutely a must! I was worried that the coffee shop would cause excess noise in the morning, but the house blocked out sound, which was awesome. I did take away a star because the website and the binder at the property had a different checkout time than what the property owner messaged me. I messaged to clarify the time and have yet to hear back. We left at the earlier time to be on the safe side. It definitely didn’t ruin our trip or the property for us, but it would have been nice to hear back.

After spending 4 nights here I only have positive things to say! There were 3 of us total and space was not an issue. The location of the house is also amazing and hard to beat with most things in walking distance, including a cafe/bakery next door which was very convenient in the mornings! Overall, great location and many amenities included, will definitely be coming back again.

Contacted host at end of stay. No reply to e-mail. 1 ceiling light is inoperable and there is mold growing on the ceiling around it. There is additional water damage/mold on the ceiling. Light next to kitchenette sink is inoperable and switch is broken. Cobwebs on walls and ceilings. Ants everywhere. Duct tape covering floor vents coming loose. No smoke/CO2 detector. No fire extinguisher. Window blinds are dirty and have hair stuck to them. Bathroom exhaust fan is dirty. The linoleum floor in the bathroom is cracked and has mold growing from under it, especially around shower base. Whole place smells musty and moldy. Some of the towels and washcloths are discolored, stained and threadbare. There was not even a spare roll of toilet paper.

This was just what the two of us needed for a short getaway. Cozy and comfortable. Cottage was clean and had all basic necessities in good, clean working order. Property was centrally located making it easy to get around. As an extra bonus, it backed up to an amazing coffee shop.

It met my expectations. Was cold, but it was COLD, so can't blame anyone for that. Suggest you review check-in times for consistency; different places posted 2, 3, and 4 pm. Which is it?? Thank you.

Perfect location to visit Chincoteague. Very cozy and comfortable. Had all we needed for a weekend stay. So glad we could include our dog with us!

Overall our stay was good and we were happy to be able to bring our pup and have a grassy space! The pictures are exactly as the actual cottage is outside and inside. It was VERY musty inside even though there was an air filter running, it helped a little to circulate the air inside. It seems the mustiness was coming from the shower(possible water damage?) which isnt healthy, mold growth etc is concerning overall. Having the small appliances, few cook ware and flatware were helpful and much appreciated, as were the extra linens and towels which could be replaced(referring to the musty smells lingering in the fabrics). The location of the cottage was great a bakery and food truck are next door which is nice and convenient! Getting to main street shops and restaurants and the downtown park was a quick direct 10/15 min walk. The owner of the cottage was very nice and gracious enough to share his phone number if we had any issues. Being in Chincoteague was a surprising adventure for us! Thank you!

My husband and I enjoy the cottage. It was small but cozy. We had everything we needed there. We would rent it again. It was also next to 2 coffee shops one next door and one across the street.

A cute little cottage located right along Main Street. Easy walking distant to Dollar General, the ice cream shops and the coffee shops. Very clean. Owner is easy to communicate with and accommodating.

The photos accurately the space. This little cottage is behind a larger house, so you won't see it from the road. Bed was super comfy and the AC worked well. The place was clean and perfect for our stay. The living/sleeping space is "shabby-chic" and uses the small space well. The bathroom is very humble but clean & has good hot water. It's a great location -- You can walk to the "main drag" for restaurants/ice cream/etc.

Everything was as stated in the listing. Rodney was very communicative. Great location. Loved being able to use the outdoor space.
