lovely spot away from the noise and bustle of town. super comfy bed and really delicious snacks. staff was incredibly helpful.

i wish it had a view of the jungle or mts, no music by the pool, so you hear every conversation (awkward)… would take this place up a notch if they just added speakers and hip chill background tunes…. nice for a couple night stay.

By far the best part of this hotel was the pool and patio. We really enjoyed hanging out there. The rest was just fine.

The location. While i don’t want to be right in the middle of everything, the short walk to the main part of town wasn’t super pleasant. It includes walking along the dusty shoulder of a busy highway, and then up and down a steep residential street. It’s not awful, but not great.

Beautiful rooms surrounding the pool, spa, and restaurant common areas. The hotel is about a quarter mile from downtown so you can escape to peace and quiet when you’ve had enough of the excitement of Sayulita. You can rent a golf cart from the hotel if walking up and down the hill is difficult for anyone in your party. We loved gathering the family together for breakfast at the restaurant before setting off for the day. The kitchen also cooked up a custom meal for us with fish we’d caught.

Amazing service, felt very safe staying there on a girls trip and very clean. It’s in a quieter part of town but not far at all from all the action in town and to the beaches.

No drawers and bad lighting in room.

It was beautiful and very quiet. The staff was extremely helpful, especially Nahu! Coffee from the little restaurant was delicious and convenient. Bed was very comfortable. Rooms were clean and spacious and the pool was very refreshing.

This isn’t a downside for us, but just wanted to note that it’s about a 10-15 min walk to the main part of town and walking back is uphill. But it was perfect for us since it was away from the noise, which we heard can be disruptive and we don’t mind walking.

oh my gosh, everything was amazing! the staff was SO NICE! Guera was our favorite part! the food was delicious and even though we ordered very close to closing time, there was never an issue and they were incredibly nice every single time. I will definitely be coming back!

The hotel is very modern and clean. It has a wonderful natural salt pool which was quiet and refreshing. We enjoyed that the hotel was a 10 min walk into town as we like to walk off our meals and it felt safe. The room was large and the bed was very comfortable and huge! The shower, air con and fan worked perfectly!

It was a shame the balconies couldn't be used as no furniture on them. Noise did travel when people were outside which was a problem on one of the nights. I did have to request to be quiet as it was around 3am and we had an early start that morning. The other nights it was perfectly OK and it was great that you couldn't hear other people in their rooms.

All of the food was excellent and they offered exactly the right selections for any part of the day. All made to order and pleasantly presented! Staff was fantastic and helpful with anything you needed or a quick ride into town (when I needed to transfer to a new hotel due to a prior booking). Really a pleasant surprise all the way around at Avela. It’s a simple yet elegant boutique hotel that does the important things (friendly staff/good food/great service/comfy beds/very clean/quality towels) properly. The walk to town is quick and enjoyed finding new little things along the way. If the things I’ve listed are what’s important to you, I wouldn’t hesitate to stay at Avela! Even if for half your time and try another place for the other half… I would absolutely return!
