We loved out stay on the Southern Comfort. Great location close to downtown. Very good restaurant in the marina with a fun dive bar attached. The boat was very nice and spacious. Captain Dave was very responsive to all of my questions. Overall wonderful experience

Our daughter has a really small wedding - seven people total!!! Renting this yacht was perfect for our needs. Easy in and to go places we needed to go. The wedding actually took place on the top deck right before sunset and was lovely. The furniture in the lounge area was very comfortable and there was room for all of us. If you rent this boat remember it is an older boat. The owner is working to repair that are worn or have been abused by other renters but they posed no problems. We loved staying on such a classic boat.

We did a girls getaway on Dave’s yacht. Our stay was absolutely perfect. Dave is a great host and was very attentive to all our needs. The yacht was clean and well-stocked. Easy to rent, perfect location and a great property manager!

Unique experience adding to the overall charm of Charleston. Boat is really spacious and well appointed. Dave was a fantastic host - very responsive.

We spent two nights on the yacht at the end of our Savannah/Charleston trip. We enjoyed the unique experience of staying on a yacht and found the Southern Comfort to be a clean, well-organized VRBO. We did not cook much, but the kitchen was larger and better appointed than we had anticipated. Instructions from Matthew were clear and helped us settle in to our brief experience of living on a boat. Our only difficulties were bunks too short for adult men and air conditioning that was difficult to keep at a comfortable temperature. We also found the cost of vehicle parking at the marina to be somewhat high. All in all, a fun end to our trip!

Stayed here for a long weekend and the Cooper River Bridge Run. A unique and fun alternative to the usual rental.

Our time here was wonderful and relaxing. Communication with Dave and his shipmate Matt at the marina was perfect. Do yourself a favor and try a unique experience like this!

We wanted a unique vacation getaway and we got it! Staying on the Southern Comfort was amazing. We loved the boat! The boat was very roomy and spacious. Captain Dave was great and very helpful. Loved the city of Charleston and will definitely be back to stay.

We loved Southern Comfort - the skybridge is a great place to relax, with beautiful views of City Marina. Easy walk to King/Meeting Street bars & restaurants. Very comfortable and safe. We enjoyed it very much. Highly recommend.

Absolutely love this older Hatteras, classic and beautiful! Captain Dave was awesome and very accommodating. We will be back!

For the most part the accommodations were satisfactory. It’s a nice boat with plenty of room. Be prepared though as the property manager/captain is often nearby, which is good or bad depending on your preference. There are lots of rules and the rule book Does have a sarcastic tone. They should probably revise this. It’s quite unprofessional. We also had an issue with the electricity and A/C going out on the bottom half of the boat. We did use the hair dryer so perhaps that was why. The manager/captain responded quickly though to fix the problem. Overall would recommend, but be very sure to read all the details before booking.

My wife and I greatly enjoyed our stay on the classic Hatteras yacht Southern Comfort.. It was part of my 75th birthday present and was totally enjoyable. Captain Dave was very helpful with acclimating us to the yacht. We will be staying on Southern Comfort again next year as we make our journey from Florida to Cape Cod. Harold

What a fun and unique experience! This yacht is very spacious and has everything you need (the only thing missing was coffee) to make great memories. What a relaxing time sitting on the top deck enjoying the views. We had a great time!

The yacht was perfect for our weekend stay. It was in the marina where we docked our boat. We fished all day and the location was good for us. Yacht was very nice. Had everything we needed. Had plenty of hot water. Captain Dave was great. Would highly recommend.

We had an amazing time on Comfort. My only regret is not booking longer. The marina was nice and the stores nearby were easy to get to and friendly. I would recommend to any that appreciate a little different vacation and something above regular rentals.

Not clean. The boat was worn in areas that should have been kept up. The owner Captain Dave had not provided full disclosure of what he was expecting prior to booking. When we arrived we were instructed, by him, to " read the White Book" located on the boat. This book was filled with mean spirited ways to undermine and humiliate guests. AND, we are boaters and know how to act, what to do, when to 'flush', etc. If you are thinking about this boat for a fun get away, as Capt. Dave would say in the White Book, " Don't Even Think About It".

Family and friends in town for a college graduation. The boat provided a great way for us to be together.

This was an experience staying on a yacht. Owner, Captain Dave was very responsive and hilarious. The yacht has everything you need, plenty of room and you can’t beat the view of the harbor whether coffee in the morning or wine at night. It is close to downtown but not close enough to walk there. You feel quite fancy staying on a yacht. It was a wonderful, unique experience. A few FYIs though….you cannot bring a large cooler onboard and if you have a larger than carryon suitcase, you can’t take it to your stateroom. It won’t fit down the hallways. Other than that, it was a blast!

Great place to stay right downtown and on the water.

What a great way to experience Charleston! Sunrise and sunset on the Ashley River, well-appointed amenities, slip location next to the channel with the boats coming in and out. Captain Dave was able to let us check in a little early so we could meet friends in the city. We'll be back next year.

A two day stay for my wife’s 30th birthday party did not disappoint. What an amazing experience. The boat was huge and had everything you needed. Lots of rules but I completely understand with the amount of labor to keep these boats up and running. Beautiful location with privacy and amazing views. The boat is older so expect some wear and tear but it won’t ruin the trip .

Well worn in places but it didn't matter. Being on a Yacht in the harbor was a special experience. Enjoy your favorite cocktail at night on the top deck and feel like you're on top of the world.

We reserved this property over two months prior to our arrival date. Our initial and final deposits we accepted and charged to my credit card. When I checked our reservation the day before our arrival, check-in procedures were posted to my reservation. However, when we arrived, I called the owner per the check-in procedures and he claimed he did not know we had a reservation and that another group were already renting the boat. The owner called VRBO and within 30 minutes I received an email that our deposits would be refunded. Which is great, HOWEVER, we had boated 5 hours down the cooper river to Charleston and had no place to stay and no vehicle other than our boat. I also received and email that we were own our own to find lodging, it was after 6 pm at this point. There were four couples in our group and all the hotels near the marina were significantly higher than the rental. I expressed all these issues to the rental owner. He said he would call a friend, with a hotel in Charleston, about getting us rooms at a discount rate. The friend never called back so we ended up getting the closest hotel to the marina as it was getting late and we had no vehicles. The owner then told us he would reach out to his friend about the second night since we were paying an astronomical amount for the rooms. He did not offer to pay for the ubers or give us a ride to the hotel. Unfortunately, once he was able to get away from us, we never heard from him again. He did not even call me the next day to see if we had a place to stay the second night. Mark that down as one weekend ruined with no offer of compensation. There are additional details I am restricted for providing on this review. Bottomline, I do not recommend this rental.
