Driving the long road to piney, we could feel the mysticism of the forest overcoming us. As we rounded the last corner, the palace of pleasure revealed itself, atop the salted water cliffs. The end

My stay at Piney Home with my chihuahua was wonderful. Arriving the first day, the salt pond beyond the cottage nearly brought me to tears. How lucky that I got a whole week to gaze out at the fog, birds, seaweed and tidal flats fir a whole week. Lovely to be so close to the Schoodic peninsula. Wonderful tidepooling and swimming at the Blue Hill Falls bridge area. Well stocked house, simple but well curated. Thank you!

Having vacationed in Maine numerous times I can attest that this property and host are an exceptional place with great owners. Location and scenery are quintessential Maine and it’s located perfectly between mid-coast and down east attractions, but you hate to leave because the view out every window is stunning and the setting is quiet and secluded.

I'm moving to Maine!
Our stay at "Piney Home" made my husband and I want to move to Blue Hill, Maine. The cabin surpassed our expectations; the online pictures really don't do it justice. The cabin was adorable, cozy, and clean. We were worried we might be chilly, but the heating unit in the bedroom worked perfectly! We honestly didn't want to ever leave.

Restful Retreat
We were looking for a quiet place to rest and Piney House exceeded our expectations. The cabin is situated away from other houses so you truly feel alone. They have outfitted the cabin beautifully blending rustic charm and comfort. They really added little touches such as the heating unit in the bedroom for the one chilly day, extra blankets and throws, overhead fans, and even some binoculars. When we were ready to venture out, it was only 10-15 minute drive to delicious restaurants and groceries - Brooklin Inn is a must and the Co-op is great! We loved our stay and hope to visit again! Thank you!

Most relaxing vacation ever
If you want to get away from the noise in the world, this is the place to be. Fairly remote cabin, clean and convenient. Needed staples were available such as pots, pans and utensils. Shower is small but had good pressure and good hot water. Fresh flowers on the counter when we arrived. Eggs, coffee beans and cream all ready to prepare for our first morning. We saw deer, eagles, loons and more. The water can be seen from one side of the cabin and woods all around us. Couldn't ask for a better site.

Magic on the Salt Pond
This was our second summer at Piney Home and it was just as delightful this time around as it was the first. We had sunsets on the dock with our desert, dodged deer who wanted to cross our path, slept in well and late, and kayaked through our mornings. Thanks for making such a special place available. It's such a thoughtfully appointed, cozy spot to enjoy in the summer.

A little piece of heaven
My son and I had an amazing week in Blue Hill at Piney Home. It was quiet, peaceful, and the evening sunsets were stunning. The property was extremely well appointed with kayaks and a canoe and our kind and thoughtful hosts made sure that the fridge was even partially stocked with basic supplies--milk and eggs--as well as coffee and granola so that when we arrived, we were nicely set up. I loved the daily swims and the outdoor shower, all the sweet touches.

Lovely, private, cottage in pristine setting
Piney Home was exactly as advertised — a sweet, little well-appointed cottage tucked into the pines along the edge of a lovely salt water pond. It was private and quiet, nicely maintained, and had all that we needed to make it a comfortable home away from home. The owners provided lots of little extras that we hadn’t anticipated, but that can help get a stay off to an easy start (eggs and milk in the fridge, bags of coffee and granola, spices and cooking oils, among others). The cottage is charming and tidy inside and out. The kitchen was well-stocked with dishes, cookware, and utensils. The only thing we missed a little bit was not having a small microwave. But, there were many other nice touches in the cottage and out (binoculars, flashlights, hammock, kayaks, a floating dock). The owners were accessible and welcoming and, even though we didn’t actually meet, we knew they were available to help with anything we might need. We enjoyed our week at Piney Home very much and highly recommend it!

Perfect getaway
This cabin was definitely the highlight on our trip thru the NE. It‘s secluded in the woods directly on the shore which provides amazing sunsets. The cabin itself is so warm and comfortable with all the necessities you need. It’s just the perfect getaway!

So Charming!
What a wonderful cabin! Perfectly stocked with everything we could need and you couldn’t get any closer to the water. Spent every evening watching the sunset by the fireside. So close to Blue Hill for all of your shopping needs. Really can’t wait to return!

Quintessential Maine cabin! Cute, rustic and secluded.
We loved paddle boarding and kayaking on the Salt Pond, quick swims and venturing out for day hikes and then awesome dinners in Blue Hill. The Co-op has great fresh greens and vegetables and can you ever get enough lobster? This is the perfect rustic and romantic getaway!

It is a struggle to find just the right words to say how much we enjoyed this beautiful cabin!!
Wish we could have known ahead of time just how delightful a stay this would be - IF we had known, we'd have tried to come for two weeks instead of just one. If total peace and quiet is NOT what you want; if being soooo very private and "away from it all" is NOT what you want - then don't come here. But.... IF those are the things you treasure in a Maine vacation getaway - then THIS is your ideal destination. Tom & Nancy are a very gracious host & hostess - and have prepared a cozy, well-equipped refuge from what's "normal" for so many of us. Everything we needed for meal prep and day-to-day vacation living was provided. Our evening campfires were pure joy. Where we live, we're used to "noise" - even at night. Here there is none. None! Our 1st night, it was almost unsettling for it to be so quiet. But 8/10 of a mile in on a dirt road in the Maine woods on a lovely salt water pond - that's how it is. During the day "the local entertainment" is the calling of a loon or two and the screeching of a pair of osprey circling overhead. The cottage is conveniently situated to allow short, delightful day-trips / side-trips to other nearby coastal communities in addition to Blue Hill itself - Deer Isle, Stonington, Castine, etc. And the L. L. Bean outlet store in Ellsworth is less than 30 minutes away! For us, the location was especially convenient since we brought a grand daughter with us to attend a class the very same week at the Wooden Boat school only 10 miles away.

Quaint lovely getaway
We really enjoyed our 5 days at Piney home. It was wonderful to look out at the pond. We only got to kayak 1 morning, but it was very nice. The cottage had everything we needed.

Serenely beautiful
This is a fantastic tiny cabin in a secluded area. If you want to get away from the hectic life stay here. It is still close enough to drive into blue hill for supplies and shopping. Surrounding points of interest are easy dives too. We drove up to Lubec and into Canada and back in one day; stopping at some historic and scenic places and also enjoying local food. If you love chocolate you must stop by Monica’s in Lubec. Thomas and Nancy are great hosts by providing a clean and well stocked cabin. Maine experienced an extreme heat wave while we were there and we had to learn the hard way the cabin windows slide open to the side to vent the heat of afternoon sun - as soon as the sun goes down it cools off quickly though. My favorites of staying were the views, seclusion and painting opportunities. My husbands favorites were the outdoor shower (which he used 2-3x a day) and the comfy chair in corner to read and relax in. This cabin is for those who don’t mind a few bugs, don’t mind living in a tiny space and are able to navigate the sloping terrain and dock stairs (which are newly built and solid). I would recommend this rental. We enjoyed our stay. Thank you Thomas and Nancy for sharing this piece of paradise.

Serene, beautiful
The serenity of the cabin, its beauty and charm are simply divine. Sitting high on the rocks overlooking the salt pond is a sight forever etched in our minds. Sunsets every evening were stunning.
Tom and Nancy's thoughtfulness and generosity in providing a well-stocked cabin made us feel at home. The hummingbirds visited every morning. Two deer walked through the woods soon after we arrived.
We traveled to Acadia and drove to the harbors and to the beautiful small towns on Deer Isle. Visiting Castine, pottery shopping at Rackliffe, breakfast at Harbor House, meeting Flo are all treasured memories and then returning to the beautiful cabin to sit by the fire and watch those sunsets.
Thank you so very much for sharing your beloved cabin. We now have a blueprint for our dream cabin in the Pennsylvania mountains. Maine is forever etched on our hearts.

Idyllic waterfront location in a comfortable charming rustic cabin
The location and the accommodation are ideal. Situated on a very private elevated wooded lot on the Salt Pond, there is a birdseye view of nature (birds of all sorts including a huge one that might have been a falcon, deer, and even a diving seal, otter, or other similar creature). The evidence of man is evident but not at all offensive. The neighboring residences are barely apparent, there is minimal road noise, and the silence of the pond was broken by boat motors maybe three times in our last week of September. For the most part it is calm. The most prominent sign of human activity are dozens of small buoys for oystering. Very serene. The Salt Pond is no pond by landlocked midwestern standards. It is a huge (by my standards) inlet of the Atlantic which ebbs and flows with the tides creating an ever changing landscape like view of the rock formations situated off the shoreline. This is a very special place.
The piney home is a very comfortable rustic cabin which is appropriately equipped for its mission. The kitchen is fully equiped except for dishwasher, disposal, and microwave. The cabin is on well water which is clean and fresh, and the plumbing is functional and pleasant. The bathroom is a bit tight however, especially the shower. The furniture is comfortable and inviting, including the bed. The cabin is decorated in a tasteful way that you would expect for the setting without being overly thematic. I am out on a limb here but suffice it to say that it is comfortable, functional, eclectic, appropriate for the setting and the intended use, and it evokes feelings of authenticity without resorting to cliched themes.
Finally the hospitality at Piney Home is outstanding. All aspects of our stay were well thought out and prepared for by the hosts such that we had no need to contact them. There is a well written pamphlet on how things work, where they are, and what to do. The tone is consistent with the concept that the guest is trusted to respect the property therefore the guest is respected from the outset. No condescending list of house rules, exceptions, and limitations. Going beyond that, we found the cabin to be stocked with loads of fabulous consumables (aside from spares of all of the standard household items-thank you), there were artisan chocolates, coffee, beverages, butter, a dozen brown eggs that were not produced in a factory, etc. Thank you very much for an experience of a lifetime!
