Our stay at "The Haunted Hotel" during Mardi Gras week was nothing short of incredible! From the moment we arrived, the exceptional staff made us feel right at home. Their welcoming and helpful demeanor truly enhanced our experience, and Christina, in particular, stood out as super helpful. She went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed, from providing insightful tips for activities and restaurants to being readily available whenever we had a question or request.
The location of the hotel couldn't have been better. Nestled between the vibrant Bourbon Street and the lively Frenchman Street, it struck the perfect balance, allowing us easy access to the best bars and attractions without being overwhelmed by the crowds. We stayed in room B5 in the lower courtyard, which was not only comfortable but also conveniently located for enjoying the courtyard during the hot weather.
The hotel's ambiance perfectly complemented the spirit of New Orleans. Embracing the history of the New Orleans Axeman, the atmosphere was both intriguing and welcoming. Despite being in the midst of Mardi Gras festivities, the street itself remained quiet and safe, providing a peaceful retreat when needed.
Our room exceeded our expectations in terms of comfort and amenities. The spacious bathroom with twin sinks was a nice touch, and the bed was incredibly comfortable. We appreciated the fridge for keeping our drinks cold, the coffee machine for our morning pick-me-up, and the large TV for unwinding after a day of exploring.
The highlight for us was the expansive courtyard, which offered a cool respite from the New Orleans heat. It would undoubtedly be the perfect spot for pre-drinks with a larger group.
Thanks so much!

We honestly couldn't find anything to fault during our stay - everything was fantastic! If we were to suggest one improvement, it would be to consider adding some additional coat hooks around the room. During our week-long stay, there was a particularly rainy day, and having extra hooks would have been convenient for hanging wet clothes separately from our dry wardrobe items.

The staff are absolutely amazing. Due to a booking issue, we thought that we were out of luck in regards to needing two beds. The staff went above and beyond. We were first pleasantly surprised at their response time and friendly, welcoming personalities. These ladies were always smiling! Then, they stepped up in preparing the room for an extra bed. The booking issue was the booking sites fault and not theirs, but they still took it on and fixed it! The entire time we felt as though they genuinely cared about not only our time at the hotel but also throughout the whole city. The rooms were clean and beds were comfy. Location, location, location. We were in walking distance of everything within the French quarter. As three young people looking to wobble back to our room, it was very easy to make it back safely. We will be back!

If you're looking to stay in a place with a relaxed haunted vibe right in the French Quarter, this might be for you. The microwave, fridge and coffeemaker in the room were handy too. Otherwise I found this a very underwhelming stay, not worth the price. The rooms were old, the floor was slanted and it all felt rather fragile. You could hear other guests coming and going in the evening. The main AC unit was in the courtyard not far from my room and it is so loud, turning on every 10-15 minutes and then whirring, I had to wear earphones or earplugs - didn't make for a quiet night in. There were air fresheners with a weirdly sweet smell throughout the corridors which was bothersome. There are not enough lights nor plugs in the room, especially if you have an adaptor. There was no one at my arrival to greet me and I couldn't communicate easily with the host pre arrival. There is no housekeeping. Although the coffeemaker and the complimentary coffee were nice. I think this is closer to a two star place, not three starts.

I like the concept
A lot unfortunately. First, there was no instructions sent on how to get into the hotel. You must call for a code for a lockbox. Secondly, there were two bags of trash in my room seemingly forgotten by the maid. Third, there was no one present to check me in or out. Fourthly, the bed was high in the air and rock hard. I was ok but my mom really suffered and she was the reason we were there. We did capture an orb and had caught EVPs

The room was in a great location, quiet and clean.
I booked a double bed for myself, sister and cousin. We were given a single bed.

The hotel is very clean and in a great location. It was also very quiet.
Another guest "checked us in." There was no one in the office and we didn't see anyone when we left. We booked a two room bed but was given a one room bed.

The staff were AMAZING and extremely helpful. They were warm and welcoming! I loved the fact that it was completely decorated for Halloween and I was central to everything. The courtyard was lovely to hangout throughout our visit.

This is freaking New Orleans!!!! Everything about my stay seemed like a genuine New Orleans experience. From the first walk through a little side alley, until you get to the expansive inner garden, it was really magical.
Our host, Herb, was an excellent tour guide for the property, and even took us up to the “Axeman’s “ room and showed us around there. He was very cool, and I give this place a few extra stars on his hospitality alone.
As far as the rooms, they were clean and very nice. It’s an old building, with old building drawbacks, but for my money, if I am going to stay in downtown New Orleans this is the hotel I will be staying at from now on. I’ve stayed at the Holiday Inn Downtown, and this was literally $100 cheaper, and way more classy. This place makes you feel like people checking in, and not a commodity.
it’s old, but that is understandable for the price. Overall, I have no complaints about this property.

Location couldn’t be better, we had the front room with a spectacular balcony. Beds were comfy, good hot water in shower, good A/C. Nice fully equipped guest kitchen stocked with beer, bread (toast), k-cup coffee maker, condiments. clothes washing facilities, comfortable interior patio. Friendly helpful staff.
I wish our room had a chair. This place is funky and that’s it’s charm!! Don’t expect room cleaning.

No fuss. No trumpets. Clean. Accessible. Available when required.
The first day I had a tough job getting in /getting through. No bell in the gate, and it was closed. Perchance someone was inside sweeping the passage and I called out.

We liked the location, a block and a half from Bourbon Street. We loved the ambiance and the managers. There is a courtyard and all the guests mingle with the locals… it is like being part of a family. So much fun!
