A propos de ce maisonrental
Maine Coast House with Spectacular Ocean Views and Beach for Swimming

First the positives: it’s a beautiful home, great views, excellent location. We enjoyed the use of the house and decks! Close to many enjoyable hikes, and attractions.
Negatives: the grill on the deck did not work! Thank goodness we love cooking inside and the weather was cool enough for us to cook indoors.. A larger family who wanted to save money and grill their food would’ve been Out of luck!
The photos of the property
suggest extensive privacy, however
this house is located in an enclave of homes that have been owned by the same families for generations. While the families are nice, you are definitely the outsider. The homes are pretty close to each other where we were, and there was pretty much constant human traffic in front of the deck. So if you are looking for a little seclusion, this place is not for you during the summer months.
As a “pet friendly” place, We brought our 2 dogs, who are not off leash dogs in an unknown open space. While they are certainly not dangerous dogs, they do not take too kindly to the constant visitation of the unleashed dogs that belonged to the owners of the house below ours, and they were certainly a part of our life whether we wanted them to be or not! They had no problem coming up onto the deck, the back yard, and outside the basement door. Since they’ve probably been at this house before with family, I assume they thought it was ok to roam here. Had I been aware of the unleashed open field policy of the dogs who live there for the summer, I wouldn’t have chosen the property for sure. Or, I would’ve opted to kennel my dogs for our vacation. I felt as if I had to look out and clear the way before I took my dogs for walks, before sitting on the deck, and pretty much any time we were at the house. Very stressful.
Maybe we just rented at a really busy week, I’ll definitely take the responsibility of vacationing on a busy, family filled week, but the unleashed/random visiting dog thing is not ok to me. We definitely saw the dogs urinating and defecating on the lawn which we were responsible for cleaning up. Not cool.
In closing, it’s really a beautiful home. If you plan on coming during a busy summer week, leave the dogs at home if your dogs don’t like random visiting dogs who live in the enclave for the summer or long periods of time. ! I wish we would have known that.

Our family loves this house & location so much--we came back again this year. Maggie (host) makes everything so easy, including check in/out and quickly responding to questions &/or requests. It's difficult for me to write a glowing review b/c I want to keep this place all to myself! But I have to be honest--it's wonderful.

My husband and I had a great time. It was easy getting in touch with Maggie, and we had everything we needed. The only down side is that I didn't realize some things close up late September/mid October, so we didn't get to do some things I wanted. We don't usually vacation this late in the year, so lesson learned!

The property is just far enough out of town to be very quiet and peaceful. Each morning you can hear and see the lobster boats out in the bay at work. This property is situated in a great jumping off spot for exploring all the quaint fishing towns nearby. The house has all the normal amenities you will need but if you are wanting to watch tv, then make sure you bring a laptop to stream Netflix. The trail down to the beach is fairly straightforward and the waves are soothing to listen to as they crash on the rocks below. It was very thoughtful of Maggie to even leave my wife and I an anniversary card on the table upon checkin. If you are looking for that quiet spot to relax in the idyllic Maine setting, this is it!

The house was a perfect spot for our family to chill and enjoy the Maine coastline. The house is charming and simple, very comfortable for the 5 of us to stay in. We brought our dog to stay with us and she had tons of room to roam around outside. The nearby beach was a 3 minute walk and almost deserted. Maggie was a great host. Good communication before arrival and then super friendly and welcoming once we arrived We can't wait to find another chance to visit.

Great house, great location, loved it!
We stayed here for our 2nd anniversary and absolutely loved it! We brought our 2 dogs and our 5 month son and it was the best family vacation. The beach is a short walk, the sunrise views were amazing, it’s quiet, and all the people around us were so nice. Maggie was wonderful and the house manager was so nice (and even came by to check on us after a big storm came through). The only negative thing I can say is there is no AC, so be prepared and bring fans... it was hot the week we went!! But everything was clean and perfect!!

Lovely house, very clean. Had a wonderful three day stay.
If you are looking for a quiet, rural vacation with friendly neighbors, this is the place for you. Lobster co-op right up the street, you really get them right off the boat ! Lovely home, extremely clean, everything you need. Ocean views, little private beach a short walk.
We love to go antique shopping, so many places to choose from. Would we come back again ? Absolutely !

All the amenities of home along with the beautiful town of South Bristol
Great place to enjoy all that Maine is. What wonderful people and the town is right out of a story book. Quaint and picturesque as it can get. The freshest fish available right from the docks; cooked or take it home and prepare it yourself.

Comfortable, great location and well equipped.
We enjoyed our stay in this comfortable home. There were good views from the decks and it was a very short walk to the water. We enjoyed the fireplace in the evenings and the kitchen was well equipped for cooking. The king bed in the master was very comfortable!

Spectacular views of the water. It was magical sitting in bed watching the sun rise with my son.
The house was clean, cozy. Had everything we needed and more. This was our first experience with VRBO and will definitely use again. We look forward to coming back and enjoying all those decks.

This house is just lovely, well equipped and comfortable. The general area is beautiful and there's lots of touristy things to do somewhat nearby.

Refreshing sea air in the quietest neighborhood...
We love to come to ME off season and try a different area each year and thru VRBO we've always been happily satisfied...and this year, Maggie's place in S. Bristol was no exception. The house is immaculate; brand new, and everything we needed was there. No surprises! What a wonderful thing it is to borrow a family's home, land, and history for a few days get-away and then return to our own places with new memories. I enjoyed waking each morning to the sunrise over the water-the house is simply filled with light and the decks offer great views. Like her brother, Dave, said, "You're on Maine time now!" Something about the sea air @ Mac Farland's Cove makes you...happy to be there. My 87 yo mom enjoyed a schooner sail @ nearby Boothbay (East Wind) and even made it up the narrow stairs @ Pemaquid Lighthouse to the view of crashing waves, (her highlight). Mine was revisiting Popham Beach -an hour drive away, but worth it, and hiking to the island during low tide and finding sand dollars. Coming back to the Cove for grilling on the deck was home! (Nearby Osier's or Pemaquid Co-op were great for take -out or eat there seafood-and the Boothbay Harbor Co-op.) Much appreciated, Maggie!

Off the beaten path
After a drive through narrow roads to get there we found the house and it was lovely - not too far from Damarascotta, perfect views of the water in two directions, neighboring several other properties full of nice, helpful people. The three story house was well stocked, from the ping pong table in the basement to the fully outfitted kitchen to the balconies off each of the upstairs rooms. We loved every moment of our stay, climbing on the ocean rocks in low tide to the east of the house, playing on the beach to the west, curling up on the balconies with the books gathered from Damarascotta's excellent bookstores. It was an idea long weekend getaway.

Lovely Time!
We were there for a week (2 adults) and had a good time. The house is well-located along "Mid-Coast" Maine at the top of a hill, and has a view of water on two sides. It's a short walk to a small sandy beach. The house is comfortable, well-furnished from our point of view, and had laundry facilities and good kitchen appliances, dishes and tools. We truly enjoyed the decks for coffee each morning and planning our day!

Wonderfully Relaxing and Picturesque
My husband and I stayed at Maggie's home for the long weekend.
It was perfect! The view, the access to the bay to swim, open windows and sea breezes....just perfect.
Maggie's home is clean, very comfortable and the location is off the beaten path.
thank you and I do hope we have an opportunity to stay there again.

Great house with water view and accessible beach
The house is in a secluded location with nice water views from both sides of the house. There is a small sandy beach which is unusual in this part of Maine. We had excellent fresh lobster from the South Bristol Lobsterman's Coop and we also picked our own mussels from the water/rocks in front of the house! It is a short drive to Pemaquid Lighthouse and the Sea Gull restaurant next so did serve a great breakfast with an spectacular view. Maggie was able to arrange a boat ride and that was the highlight of the trip. Damariscotta is a cute town with many shops and restaurants which was a nice afternoon outing. Boothbay Harbor is about an hour drive and was another fun day with beautiful sights. Maggie was wonderful and very accommodating. She was assessable by phone, email and text.

Fantastic home away from home
My husband, two daughters (ages 1.5 and 3.5), and I stayed here for a week the end of August. It was perfect! I loved the layout of the home - very conducive to keeping an eye on little ones during the day and at night. The furnishings were all very comfortable and it was nice to have a full size kitchen and laundry on vacation. We ate most of our meals on the main deck which has a lovely view of both the Bay and Cove. We laid a simple baby gate across the stairs and the main deck became a great play space as well. The nearby (walking distance) Cove is magical and another wonderful spot to be with kids and adults. I highly recommend!!!
