Beautiful home right on a picturesque working harbor. Bob and Rachel are fantastic hosts who make every stay perfect. We’ve been renting from them for years now and absolutely love it!

We absolutely love the house and the location. This is two years in a row for us and we plan to come back next year.

We spent a week of relaxation and connection at this rental. It was a perfect place for us to explore the area but also just relax together. We enjoyed watching the lobster boats come and go and walking to the ice cream shop down the street. It is a quiet area but not too far from being able to sightsee different sights around the area. We took spent a couple of days just hanging out at the rental but also took day trips to Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, Maine Maritime Museum in Bath and Pemaquid Lighthouse. We would stay here again if we came to this area.

Rachel and Bob have designed this home with the perfect mix of vintage antiques and clean, modern coastal fabrics and furnishings. It’s charming, and beautiful and clean. Nothing is worn out. The private dock is amazing and we spent every morning and evening watching the boats and various birds come and go.
The area is perfect for exploring mid-coast Maine. Plenty of less touristy spots that allow you to feel like a local. There’s a great co-op for groceries and nearby towns offer well curated home goods, books and dining options.
We can’t wait to come back neshow a lot of care for their property and it shows.

Bob and Rachel are great hosts—warm and responsive—and the house is lovely and in a picture perfect location.

The south Bristol community is exceptional, the locals, the lobster Co op next door and the great eateries in town .
We enjoyed our two week stay; lovely hosts and close to Portland, Bar Harbor, Booth Bay and Wiscasset .
There are no shortage of activities, even if it rains the whole time.
We did not have children however; if you are traveling with children bring back up entertainment for rainy days .

From the moment you connect with the Rachel and Bob, it is clear their goal is to create a wonderful experience for their guests. The location of this home is perfect for anyone seeking a quiet ocean front escape, yet a short drive provides access to shops, restaurants, hiking trails, and the beach. The home itself is impeccably kept. This is not your "typical" vacation rental, as we felt as though we were staying in the warm, welcoming, and well cared for home of a friend or loved one. From the cozy couch and reading chairs to the soft and supple linens, every detail has been considered. When we entered the home, we were struck by how clean it was. Not a single piece of dust or dirt could be found. This level of cleanliness is such a rare find in the busyness of summer rentals by the shore, and the attention to this detail was so very much appreciated.
Rachel and Bob are superb communicators and we felt confident that if we needed anything during our stay, they would not have hesitated to help.
We look forward to many future stays at the Manning's home!

Beautiful mid-coast getaway
Well-appointed property with conscientious hosts and excellent views. Easy water access and a great location for kayak trips to Witch Island, Christmas Cove and other nearby spots. Our group ranged in age from 5-75 and we all thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Perfect spot
We had a great time at Rachel & Bob’s cottage. The property was beautifully renovated and is nicely decorated with a mix of antiques and comfy modern pieces. The kitchen is stocked with high quality items - good pans, sharp chef knives, all the items you need (and plenty of them)! They thought of all the details that make a rental feel like a home (nice linens, extra throw pillows and blankets, good blinds, comfy beds). The location is fantastic as well! There’s a great yard with a view and lovely dock. It’s next door to the public landing, but noise was not an issue at all even with the windows open & it’s an easy walk to the coop, osiers, etc. Great property in a great place!

Perfect Vacation
Staying at this fabulous waterfront cottage in South Bristol was perfect. The home was so lovely and stocked with high quality items- even the knives were sharp! Bob and Rachel were wonderful hosts- they met us at the door and answered every question we had. They even discarded the lobster shells for us! The location was perfect- between Freeport (and shopping) and Acadia National Park (for sightseeing). Being on the cove was perfect for relaxing. It was the best vacation ever! Thank you, Bob and Rachel for sharing your wonderful home with us. We will be back!

Owners were lovely to work with! We stayed on the heels of a power outage. They set up and monitored a generator to keep us powered and comfy. We would definitely recommend and plan to rebook.

We had the pleasure of staying at the Manning’s lovely home in South Bristol Harbor for almost a week in early October. They met us with the key and gave us many tips that we took advantage of as to neighboring towns, restaurants, things to go see, etc. (We Loved the Little Village Bistro, Bob.) It was the perfect home base to visit many spots along the Maine Coast. We went to Wiscasset, Damariscotta, Kennebunkport, Boothbay, Bath, Rockland, Camden, Ogunquit and Portland and they were all enchanting. It was wonderful to come back to one place each night and relax and plan the next day’s events. The house was so comfortable and we loved the decor. The rooms were spacious and perfect for us. We would love to use their lovely home again if we come back to Maine. If you are in the area, don’t miss going to Jan Kilburn’s art studio. Her watercolors are absolutely beautiful and we had a wonderful visit with her and her husband. We all bought a lovely piece that she is shipping to us. Maine is such a beautiful state, and we could not have had a better experience. We highly recommend the Manning’s VRBO to anyone visiting the area. They were so easy to work with and were wonderful with communication. You won’t be disappointed! Melissa, Susan, and Suzanne

Maine was amazing!
Property was wonderful as was the property owners who went out of their way to help us with the area. Only one thing could they could improve on is there was not a garage door opener to use when leaving each day.

Perfect cottage
This is the second year we stayed in this comfy cottage. The hosts thought of everything. It is very clean and we love the view through the windows as well as a large and well equipped kitchen. Decor is tasteful. They even provide coffee, butter, jam, milk and eggs. Location is ideal for visiting Boothbay area for activities such as whale watching and close to several lighthouses. Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park are just 2-3 hours drive. The cottage is quiet even though the South Bristol Fisherman’s Co-Op is next door. They have the best prices and freshest lobsters, and they will steam the lobsters for you.

An exquisite waterfront home in picturesque South Bristol
If you're looking for the quintessential seaside escape, this is it. Beautifully furnished with water views from three of the four bedrooms, this is the Maine experience everyone dreams of.
From the moment you arrive, you know this is the place. Scrupulously clean and full of fine accents (high quality appliances, wool blankets, nautical highlights and a chef's kitchen to die for (with direct views of the harbor and a slopping moss green lawn reaching to the water), you will want to settle in and stay all summer.
Every detail has been attended to. Fresh eggs, milk, cream and bottled water in the fridge! Coffee and tea on the kitchen buffet. Aromatherapy soaps and cleaners throughout. Immaculate floors and window treatments. Spotless bathrooms with shampoo, conditioner and body wash.
The guest book contains all the info on local restaurants, the adjacent lobster pound, sailing, kayaking and more. And the wifi is strong and reliable.
In the mornings and evenings, the grounds are a dreamscape for photographers. The light and colors guarantee perfect photo memories.
Nearby is Osiers grocery, where you'll want to order a "lobster bomb" for lunch or dinner. And pick up a quart of vanilla ice cream to accompany your blueberry pie. Travel across the bridge to Rutherford Island by foot, bike or car to explore the calm and beauty of this super-friendly neighborhood. At the southern tip is Christmas Cove, a picturesque Maine hamlet that will delight your senses.
Travel north to the town of Darmaiscotta to explore local shops and restaurants. Cupacity is our go-to coffee stop and they serve the best organic lunches (avacado toast with edible flower petals is our fav).
Bob and Rachel are the loveliest of hosts and respond immediately to any inquiry of need.
Oh and don't forget to rent a kayak from Maine Kayaks! They'll deliver to the house and even place them on the private dock.
This is a superb vacation rental! Not to be missed!

Fabulous Location!!
The owners, Rachel and Bob, met us to open up and share information regarding the home and property. Everything PLUS that we needed was provided. The Mannings were wonderful, fun people and their rental property was lovely. Our family of five loved being in this home--such a nice break from the regular routine. The view of a lobster working harbor was something that we enjoyed immensely. A kayak was rented for five days--delivered to and picked up from the property. The surrounding towns all had something to enjoy. The side roads we explored all led to great surprises. This is a place we would definitely enjoy returning to and have already recommended it to others.

Perfect little getaway
Our stay was perfect! Loved the home, all the little details and decorations, the yard and view were incredible! Location was great for all the things we wanted to do! We did find out that the kayaks can be delivered to the cabin but only for multiple day use. I loved the sheets, the kitchen, sitting room, that there was NO TV! We had everything we needed at our fingertips to enjoy nature, good food and each other. Everyone of us enjoyed and I look forward to coming back :)

Perfect Family Accommodation with an amazing view!
We stayed here for the long weekend and it was the perfect home away from home! The cottage was very clean, comfortable and had all the things needed to make our stay enjoyable. The kitchen was well equipped and it was lovely to receive a welcome pack of essential breakfast items especially since we arrived very late. We appreciate that this cottage had no television which made our stay much more memorable. They were plenty of books and games to keep us occupied including our thee year old. Thanks Bob and Rachel, see you soon!

Well appointed cottage
The cottage is clean, well furnished and decorated. Nice view of the bay and lobster boats. Christopher was present when we arrived and went over in detail about the cottage and local areas. Conveniently located next to fisherman’s co-op. Close to several lighthouses and Boothbay Harbor.

Loved South Bristol!
Charming small fishing town and the cottage was awesome! Directly next door to the lobster coop so lobster dinners were a must. Home was lovely - enjoyed our evenings on the dock watching the boats go by. It had everything we needed and was a great place to decompress after lots of day trips! Osiers in S Bristol was great for breakfast and their lobster roll was great. Pemaquid Lighthouse and beach were awesome! Laverna Preserve was a great local hiking trail with great views. Thank you for sharing your lovely home. If we can get to Maine again this is our first choice. We had a great time

Perfect Vacation House
Rachel and her son Christopher were incredibly gracious to host us in their lovely house! We arrived a bit out of sorts after a reservation we had previously made with another agency was cancelled last minute--so we were thrilled to see this new listing available for our stay. Rachel was incredibly quick to reply to all of our messages (I must admit if you have AT&T cell service, most of the areas we travelled in and around did not have great cell service-which is nice but challenging when trying to schedule a last minute booking!) We arrived at the house to meet Christopher, who gave us a wonderful tour of the house and left us with some wonderful local treats (oh, the strawberries-thank you!). The house was perfect for our family. Three of our children were with us (all under age 7--and the house was perfect for them--even better no TV!) So they explored outside a lot, and played in the spacious backyard with the best view. My husband and I both enjoyed running around the area and on Rutherford Island. This house and location are truly wonderful and offered our family the downtime we needed. The location is ideal, you are not in a touristy, crowded area at all, yet it is an easy trip to Damariscotta and Pemaquid Beach as well as some other great spots. We all simply enjoyed being at the house, whether in it, reading, relaxing, eating lobster and taking in the splendid views or outside watching the lobstermen and enjoying the Maine weather. The house has every amenity you could think of, great space inside for meals with family and great outdoor space. All of the beds were incredibly comfortable with fresh linens. The house was very clean and the owners could not have been more helpful. We hope to go back!

Awesome cottage! Awesome view!
If you could close your eyes and build your very own Bay front Maine cottage...this is it. We got off to a great start with our warm welcome from Christopher. He shared the info for the house and area..like the fresh lobsters right next door! We did a surf and turf dinner and let me tell you, this kitchen is stocked with everything you could want and things we didn't even know we needed. We also we're provided with starters of everything kitchen and bathroom. We even had fresh brown eggs and milk, not to mention delicious bread and jam. The confirmation of the bedrooms worked great for us. The house back of the house looks out onto the bay and across to the island where we enjoyed a great meal one night. The view looks like a classic Maine postcard. We had fun on the private dock and tried our luck at some fishing. We also drove to Booth Bay harbor and enjoyed a whale watching tour and some nice shopping. We had fun at the railroad village too. My 11year daughter wants me to say that the couch is really comfy..lol. I just cannot say enough about this home and area. A non-touristy area yet close to everything. The most beautiful light house and Rocky ocean front park is just 20 minutes away. We've traveled all over Maine and I fell in love with this area. I left feeling like there was still so much I wanted to do. We will definitely be back! Thanks for sharing this beautiful cottage with us where truly every detail was attended to and appreciated. Even though the house was recently renovated, it still felt classically Maine and homey. Thanks again, the hinchliffe.
