location was perfect, house has everything you would need, from meeting Annette to departing was brilliant, only thing that could make the stay would be wifi, we were so fortunate to have fantastic weather, but if the weather had been bad in the evening wifi would be great especially for the youngsters. all in all great place we will be bacck.

My self, my husband and 2 other couples along with our three 18 month old toddlers stayed in cottage 3 and it was perfect. Lots of space for the children to play, stair gates provided, and We had all the amenities we needed (kitchen equipment, towels etc). The location is the main attraction with it being so close to the beautiful PortSalon beach. We Would definitely return to to Ardglass Cottages in the future.

We had booked a 3 night short break away for my young family. I specifically picked Ardglass Cottages because the area in the photographs looks very secure behind the security gates and other reviewers spoke of being able to let their children out to the play area which was adjacent to the houses in the picture. Initial communication with Marlene/Annette was fantastic, they helped me sort out a booking error I made and all was great. Closer to our trip I saw a review of the property in German which stated disappointment at not staying in the houses pictured. This reviewer mentioned two houses beside the road. I then emailed the owners wanting to double check that we were in the houses as shown in the photo as my reason for booking was because I wanted the security gates and to be able to let my young daughter play on the swings while still being able to see her. I received no reply. I then phoned the numbers listed for Annette, Marlene and the two caretakers listed for the property. The only reply I got was from a lady called Elizabeth who said herself and her mother no longer look after the property. I still have not received a reply to my call or email from the owners. When we arrived the lady in the adjoining shop was a fantastic help. She gave me the key and the number of the new caretaker should we need anything. Our house (no.4) was not one in the picture as feared. It was a lovely house and close to the shop but the electric gates were broken so no security to let my daughter out at all. The swings were up steep steps to the other houses (in the online picture) so we couldn’t let her go there unaccompanied either. We had a lovely stay in Portsalon and I do not mean to sound overly negative. The houses are a great size but as people who have been renting holiday houses around Ireland for over 10 years with my wider family, there are a few improvements which could be made - there was no welcome information on the area, where to eat (would recommend Ripples in Kerrykeel and The Pier in Portsalon) etc and the workings of the house (it took a little search to figure out which switch turns on the dishwasher- it’s the one over beside the toaster). I didn’t care about WiFi but it certainly wouldn’t take much to run the cable from the TV upstairs to the dvd-only TV downstairs. Would be very handy for a big group. A lovely house, you won’t be disappointed but TLC needed to make it more homely. Contact details also need to be updated.

Accomadation was 1st class we loved every minute, wonderful weekend.

Fantastic area in Portsalon , the holiday let is beautiful, situated on a 10 min walk from the local golf course and the stores bar , friendly people make u feel so welcome , will definitely b back thanks Marlene

We were17 people and rented two villas. They were great and comfortable. Would do it again.

The property was well equipped and very clean. In a perfect location and secure for the grandchildren to play with the wee playpark. Convenient to the beach and a well stocked shop on site. A few wee improvements I feel could improve the property. The TVs are very dated and more like a portable tv. The tv in the sunroom doesn’t actually work which would have been handy for the kiddies while we cooked in the kitchen.I understand you don’t go on holiday to watch tv but I feel they are outdated. The CD player didn’t work. Only one shower and one one bath. 6 adults using one shower wasn’t ideal. Also a very small garden table with 4 chairs tho the property sleeps 8. Overall we had a brilliant holiday and the kids really enjoyed it. Portsalon is a lovely place with a beautiful beach.

Spent the bank holiday weekend with all the family (16 + baby) fantastic facilities with everything included and thought off in terms of the facilities. Even a gas BBQ ! Each house sleeps 8 comfortably with a camp bed for another person (9) and a travel cot. Secure with electric gates, so ideal for small kids to play and run around safely. Highly recommend it. Only down side ...it is 1km away from the beach, which is a short walk but with small kids, not ideal. ( busy enough road) But not the end of the world to drive down. Fabulous safe beach ... kids and adults had a ball !

Perfect for us as we are golfers, and the property is 10 minutes walk to the golf course and the beach. Very spacious. Just need to remember to put the immersion heater on.

Le wifi ne fonctionne pas du tout, c'est dommageable lorsqu'on recherche des informations... Sinon tout était parfait, propreté, maison immense et 3 salles de bains, 2 salons.....

We spent 1 week in this house. It's in a secure area of 3 houses with foot access to games for kids and a little shop. The house is comfortable. We had only problems with the Wifi which was not working and the 2nd toilet was not working as well. The house is a 15 min walk to the beach and a pub / restaurant.

Very spacious. There was 9 of us in 1 house and we never once felt cramped. The grounds the properties are on is fantastic loads of room for the kids to run about and never had to worry because of the electric gates. The house is brilliant but the only thing i would say would be the sofas in the conservatory could do with updating aswell as the play park but it wouldnt put us of going back again. The view from the house was amazing and so close to the beach. Overall a brilliant holiday :-)

Zunächst waren wir enttäuscht, dass das Haus nicht zu dem Ensemble gehört, wie es im Internet abgebildet ist, sondern direkt an einer viel befahrenen Straße mit Kreuzung lag. Das Haus war in einem ordentlichen bis gutem Zustand und sauber. Wir haben uns dort schließlich wohlgefühlt. Die Holzgartenmöbel (vor allem die Stühle und die Bank) sollten im Winter reingeholt werden, einige Latten waren durchgebrochen. Da wir vor etlichen Jahren für viele Jahre in Donegal gelebt haben, war eine Betreuung nicht notwendig. Als Golfer fanden wir die Nähe zum Portsalon Golf Club sehr angenehm, ebenso die geringe Entfernung zu Donegals herrlichen Stränden. Sehr empfehlenswert fanden wir Sarahs Restaurant am Portsalon Pier. Da wir Donegal lieben, nehmen wir einige Unzulänglichkeiten in Kauf.

These cottages were fantastic, great location and surroundings, the children loved the play park which is on the grounds also, so they were safe within the complex. Our party was 17 adults and 14 children and there was more than enough room for all of us, within the house and on the grounds also. Would definitely stay here again!!!! Brilliant weekend, with family :-)

Casa bellissima. Non mancava assolutamente nulla. Ampio prato con giostre per bambini. Supermercato e bar sotto casa. Pub e ristorante a pochi minuti a piedi. Veramente bella.

We stayed in one of the beautiful cottages over Easter. The houses are of a superior standard, offering loads of space for large families. We loved the way the houses are designed, large open kitchen leading into a bright sunroom. The perfect setup for the adults to enjoy a meal in peace while the children happily watched a movie! The whole house is beautifully decorated & offers you everything you need for a perfect stay. The children’s play area just outside your door is heaven for the kids, keeping them entertained for hours in such a safe setting. The cottages are perfect for large family gatherings or for a relaxing weekend away. The location of the cottages is second to none with literally everything on your doorstep. We were lucky enough to enjoy fantastic weather, days spent on the beach & Lazy afternoons down by the pier. All within a few minutes stroll from the Cottages. We will definitely be back!!"

Coming from France, this was my first time to Ireland. I picked the right spot for my initiation to enjoy the hospitality and unspoiled beauty of this marvelous country ! The cottage was gorgeous, charming and very clean, with all the comforts of home ! There is a lot to see in this area and we were lucky with the weather, it was mild and sunny most of the time. Portsalon is the perfect holiday spot with just enough of everything you need. Close by (a 10 min walk) is Sarah’s, a nice local restaurant and pub for a meal or a pint of Guinness. Next door is a seaside golf course which also serves food. However if you want to go further afield (10 min drive) there is a really nice fine dining resturant in Kerrykeel, called “Ripples” with a magnificent ocean view. Be sure to try the local speciality for dessert "Carrageen Seaweed Pudding”, so good ! They make it today just like they did 100+ years ago, they collect it right from the beach and cook it down to make this unique and yummy dessert. If you want to make dinner at home there is a small but very well stocked grocery store on the grounds. An important note: if you must have wifi 24/7 then you should make plans to bring (or rent from Hertz like we did) a wifi box. Internet can be spotty in this part of rural Ireland, but with the box from Hertz we were covered most of the time.

The property was amazing, really handy to the shop. Ideally situated for touring about and also close enough to walk to the beach and harbour. Would definitely recommend this property to anyone wanting to visit this beautiful area of Donegal.

This is the perfect place for a relaxing family time away from it all. We love Portsalon and the property was in a secure development so it felt very safe. There were 9 staying in the house but we had lots of space - we especially loved the conservatory and the upstairs lounge. We had everything we needed and had a magical time. We would love to go back and would recommend.

This is one of the most beautiful spots in Ireland. We have stayed about 4 times in these cottages. The location is fabulous - a short walk to the most magnificent beach with stunning views and perfect sand, waters and waves. A great base to explore Donegal which I think is the most beautiful county in Ireland. The houses are large with all mod cons and very comfortable for one or two families each. They are very secure and safe for small children and a great bonus is having an indoor games area for the odd time the rain comes… There is also a shop and restaurant right beside the property which is very handy for all provisions. All in all an unbeatable holiday in the west of Ireland.
