We were upgraded upon arrival, due to bad weather, there had been a black out until 20 minutes before our check in. We got accommodations in a different area where light was restored. Amenities were convenient and plenty to do. Staff was very pleasant and accommodating .

Very comfortable, but we had a scare the second night we were there. We were out enjoying the amenities and when we returned to the villa, there was a utility closet in the living room and that door was open, it was closed when we left and there was also a crawl space door in there that was now also open. We texted and called the front desk, we finally got thru on our cell phone the villa phone was not working. Security came and we requested an accommodations change as we did not feel safe as that crawl space remained open. It was a race against time as the front desk was closing at 11 PM and we had to go and exchange keys to go to a different unit. The security and staff were very helpful and relocated us to a different part of the Resort to a villa with no crawlspace. Considering it was two women and two children it was inconvenient but necessary to move at that time of night.

The villa was nice and comfortable. The beds and pillows are very nice. Water pressure was excellent.

Checked in at 5 didn't get into the villa until 7, was given the wrong number, drove around for an hr. Went back to the front desk 3 times. Found the villa only to not be able to get in because the keys weren't programmed and the lock battery needed changing. My elderly mother went on herself because we couldn't get in. Security brought me another key, I handed him the 8 keys that didn't work and he threw them on the ground at my feet and drove off. The while day was a waste. Saturday morning got up to fix breakfast and The eye on the stove didn't work. Could only use the back eyes to cook. After already being frustrated that didn't help. All in all I paid almost $800 for 1 day, Sunday is really not a day because u have to check out at 10am

The one bedroom suite was beautiful. It was clean and comfortable. I was surprised how big the rooms were. And the kitchen had everything we needed for our stay.

The exterior needed work. The bushes were overgrown, they needed to be trimmed. And the porch was covered with leaves that had been there a while.

"Poconos Villas" is a third-party rental of a time share unit in the Shawnee resort owned by Windham. I wish this would have been made clearer when we reserved through booking.com. We figured it out eventually through matching unit pictures over various sites and confirmed it when they sent the final directions for check-in. It felt a little disingenuous to hide this information. We were travelling as a group of three families, 15 people (adults and college student age children). Our friends arrived first. After trying to check-in before we arrived, they were sent to the concierge desk where they were pounced on and overwhelmed by three Windham timeshare marketers who pressured them into signing up for a timeshare talk (and leaving a credit card deposit confirming they would attend the talk!). Neither of our friends were familiar with the timeshare marketing dance and they thought they needed to go to the talk to get a wristband to use the pool facilities. The Shawnee Resort staff were professional and courteous, the Windham timeshare staff were pushy and rude. We rented three, 2-bedroom units and our request to have them next to each other, was accommodated. Check-in was delayed an hour and a half, as we waited for rooms to be cleaned. Rooms were adequate, furniture was dated, and couches were old and very uncomfortable, bathrooms were basic and functional, kitchens were equipped with basics, countertops were updated to granite. Landline phone didn't work in our unit and our dishwasher didn't drain fully. Staff was very quick to respond to our request for repairs and to provide additional supplies. Our units were located near the river. We needed to drive to indoor pool/jacuzzi and other recreational resort services. Parking was tight. Pool rec. area was completely empty in the early morning 8 am- 10 am which was really nice but VERY crowded from noon until close.

Be more forthcoming with advertising. Skip the Windham timeshare "experience" or at least warn guests about what to expect and how to avoid. This definitely left us not feeling great about our experience. Rooms were dated, it would be nice to update the units. Furniture was the same as when we stayed at Shawnee 15 years ago!
