The bed is really comfortable, and the bedroom and washroom in general with great design and are very functional. The house is pretty but the guests are the best part of it, all the staff are super nice and helpful.

The outside of the República Guest House does not give any hints about how wonderful it is. The staff is exceptional, welcoming and willing to help at any time. The rooms are convenient and clean and the small outdoor sitting area is very intimate and beautiful. Breakfasts are rich and wonderful.

Graça & João are one of the warmest hosts. The couple would try everything in their capacity to make guests feel like home. We had two pleasant days at RGH. Breakfast was abundant. Great coffee. Free street parking nearby about 3 to 5 minutes of walking distance.

The owner and staff try to be nice and welcoming and offer a nice breakfast. The place is not bad overall, just watch out if you see a room price higher that 120€ (which is the standard in non-inflated days).

We travelled to Coimbra for the Coldplay concert and were of course expecting an inflation of the prices. However we discovered that the room we booked was inflated over 200%. Also, on the booking description is not mentioned that the front door rooms are noisy due to students partying around. We have been offered earplugs to sleep which is something you would not expect if you pay such prices.

Grace and her family are the warmest, most welcoming hosts. Their place is immaculately clean and comfortable, from the cozy bedrooms to the breakfast room and garden. Breakfast was an abundant spread, homey and delicious. Location is about 5 minutes’ walk past the university, so close enough to the sights while a bit quieter. On my arrival, Grace took the time to sit me down with a slice of her homemade cake and help me plan out sightseeing, dinner, and transport onward. All her advice was spot on. Thank you, Grace!

The breakfast was fantastic! We dined outside on the patio and enjoyed wonderful homemade foods. Our host Joao recommended an awesome tapas restaurant and a nearby bar with Fado music. He even offered us a ride to dinner! We were only in Coimbra for a day, but our hosts gave us some great recommendations on what to do and treated us so well.

It seems most places in Portugal only provide twin beds. It would've been nice to share a queen bed and not have that "crack" between the two beds.

Everything. it was so friendly, we could drop our luggage off early, have a cup of tea and the most fantastic description of what to see and do in Coimbra, including the best restaurants. the location was great as well. breakfast was fantastic and to be given a lift back to the station was far more than we expected. if you come to this lovely place then stay here. you will not do better.

Very friendly and warm host. Found it was my husband’s birthday and brought in a special cake. Told us we coukd use the kitchen and whatever food we wanted for a late evening snack. Which we did. We had oranges. Tried to find cutlery… but it was locked away somewhere 😜
