Restaurant

On balance, the staff was reasonably friendly and we managed to stay for 5 nights. The breakfast was also decent, though only took advantage of it one day as we usually woke up after the breakfast had ended.

Whilst it's not on the expensive end of the spectrum, many things were far from being up to the mark. It started at check-in when I presented my card for payment and they said they're taking cash only. Since I hadn't taken any cash with me, we eventually had to resort to international bank transfer. There was usually a strong scent of smoke in the corridors which sometimes seeped into the room as well, so would recommend taking an air freshener. The food hygiene was also very disappointing. We ordered dinner from their kitchen, only to find a strand of hair halfway through eating! The staff did agree not to charge us for that bit but did still charge for drinks and soup. It also took 1 hour 20 minutes to arrive despite a commitment of 35-40 mins, so very difficult to justify the 5% service charge. Also seemed like hot water in the washroom is only available when requested rather than all the time. Lastly, our confirmation email clearly said check out from 08:00-13:00, but we got a call at 11:50 saying check out is by 12:00, so we had to rush our packing and no compensation was given for this. Not even any of the tea was complimentary, which we only found out at check out! First experience of a guest house so I'll probably try to spend a bit more next time to get a better overall experience.
