I had my daughter, son in Law and grandchildren also staying in another room and although they too enjoyed stay .. the grandchildren were disappointed that the electronic games were taken away the day after they arrived but were told it was only for school holidays (they were on school holidays from nsw and did not understand ). maybe the time should be extended to all school holidays (at least in Australia) not just school holidays in Victoria.

The counter staff were wonderful and very kindly let me check in quite early. The room was lovely with a beautiful view of the river. The bedding was especially comfortable and the room was well cleaned.

A misleading sign pointing to ‘Crowne Plaza Acess’ sent me through a dirty and noisy building site. When I mentioned this to the concierge, it was quite clear they couldn’t give a damn. Two other times I asked a concierge for help or directions, their attitude was unimpressive. It seemed they were more interested in looking important than helping the paying guests.

We booked a standard room - 2 double beds. When we arrived we were told that we got an upgrade to a king size bed. We asked to keep the standard room (2 brothers forced to share one bed was not what we booked), but couldn’t be accommodated.

The price gouging for the room given there was a major event in Melbourne was expected, however room that standardly sells for around $250 per night we were charged over $800 a night plus $140 for valet parking (we didn’t use the car at all while there). I guess they can do this when the demand is there but I think it’s a bit over the top. For the price we got a small twin room with stains all over the carpet. They called this an upgrade as I booked on booking.com for a twin room and was then advised they can not garuntee twin beds and I would need to spend an extra $200 to ensure we have two beds. I traveled with my elderly mother and my teenager, I thought this whole process was poor. The cafe in the hotel was also not great service, they need to do a bit better knowing the hotel is at capacity. We had food missing and had to send food back ie: avocado toast with no avocado. This was the same for many people there.

Room was clean. A little dusty on the shelf’s above the fridge but nothing major. The bed was super comfy and the location was perfect for what we needed

I didn’t like the fact when I booked it was for a high floor yet we were only on level 1. I was disappointed in this as we were having a mother daughter get away and it would have been nice as this is what I was expecting
