Beautiful pub hotel with lovely little quirks but absolutely charming. Dinner was good but breakfast was even better. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the location was perfect.

The steak and ale pie was good but slightly on the salty side, and although it ended up being plenty of food, it looked like quite a small portion at first.

From start to finish was superb, the room was warm and welcoming, very clean and ample tea coffee ect, breakfast was the best we have ever had and we have travelled loads.

Stayed in a courtyard room 7. It was right on the river. Beautiful, clean room. Large tv, ironing board, tea/coffee making facilties. Very comfy bed. The breakfast was gorgeous, full english, fruit juice, toast, tea/coffee. There were lots of choices for other things on the menu, but we went for the above. Friendly staff from checking in, breakfast, and checking out.

All in all a very wellcome experience, the staff were well presented & very obligingly. After suffering a very recent bereavement I was in a very traumatic state.,& quite vulnerable. No problem.

Location great. Room drinks tray was a pleasant surprise (cappuccino/latte/hot choc/ nice flavours herbal tea & biscuits). Mugs not cups. Bathroom/shower was good. Stayed in an outside courtyard room and loved the sound of the running river nearby. Cosy bar area. Staff were pleasant.

The fact that early breakfast was not an option, as only start serving at 8am (so had to go without). Stop serving food in the evenings at 7.30pm (so only just made it in time after working all day!!) The mattress was terrible - need to spend some decent money and get something much better (one of my main complaints when staying away for work).

Service & food great. We returned for lunch after our walk also. Courtyard rooms very spacious and well equipped. Well located for walking & enjoying the independent businesses of Hebden Bridge.

Our room (Room 4) was superb, with triple-aspect windows, lots of space, a magnificent bathroom (with roll top bath and separate shower). Very comfortable bed too. Food (evening meal and breakfast) were both extremely good: a nice selection in the evening, a good and reasonably priced wine list, and a superb breakfast. Location was ideal for our purposes as everything we planned to visit was within a couple of minutes on foot. The car park is small but extremely useful. All the staff we encountered were really friendly and helpful – we could not have been made to feel more welcome.

There wasn't anything we didn't like. If there was one thing I'd change, it would be to configure the room lighting so that there was a stronger reading light – but honestly it was easy enough to move into the light (which was perfectly adequate).

Location brilliant. Breakfast hot and delicious - maintenance work in the pub underway at the time but it was managed well alongside staying guests. Staff really pleasant and helpful and relaxed. Tea and coffee provision in the room - good.

Black mould in bathroom (behind door) - shower not very powerful and tendency to get floor wet behind toilet whilst you were in it. Room felt like it needed a deep clean - eg: cobwebs on light fittings, greasy stain on vanity stool. Bed quite low with soft mattress - suits some people but not all. Parking requires a bit of skill with a larger car if it’s busy.

Right in the heart of Hebden Bridge with free parking, great outdoor seating, beautiful perfect rooms and excellent food. Would highly recommend a stay at the White Lion, I will certainly be back!
