Great location, right in the centre of Bergen. Fabulous lounge. Quiet rooms.

We stayed 4 nights in 2 rooms. In the first room, we had to get the receptionist to come to our room to clear the sink at 1130pm! It had obviously not been cleaned properly as the water would not drain due to being clogged with disgusting hair. How the cleaner could have failed to notice this is beyond me. He eventually cleared it by use of a spike by which time it was 00:30. Unfortunately, the breakfast suffered from that usual hotel problem with buffets - everything was cold. How fried eggs can come out of the kitchen already cold is ridiculous. Terrible coffee out of an urn, in fact, undrinkable, so we had to order real coffee. As I said we were there 4 nights in 2 rooms and neither was cleaned properly, with coffee not replaced and night clothes flung in a heap. Our toothbrushes etc were just shoved to one side in a heap. Don't bother with the restaurant, as my wife had a steak that had obviously been broiled first.

The room was quiet and charming. The restaurant and bar areas were very pleasant and the food, drinks and free breakfast of a high standard.

This hotel has the most beautiful dining rooms you could ever see, it is world class. The staff everywhere in the hotel is fantastic. Norman and Jack, the two managers of the restaurants their staff was the best part of my 10 days stay. The food was wonderful and the best selection of wine and Champagne anywhere in Norway. The location is in the center of everything. However, the downside was the rooms. This was in the past a 5-star hotel. I had a two-room suite. All I can say is, it was shabby COLD and nothing worth the cost charged. I was so cold the first night I couldn't sleep, "and they were SORRY", but still charged me the full rate. I tried to change hotels, but nothing was available. The next day they brought in 2 electric space heaters that kept blowing the circuit and left the room with any power. It was a pain in the butt to keep turning it on and off. The bedroom had no clock, no instructions on how to use the phone, not enough light to read in bed, no safety handles to get on and out of the bathtub. The furniture was very old and SHABBY. The only reason I would consider staying there again is their staff, they were the best, helpful in every way and showed you they were happy to work there and made you feel they were interested in doing anything they could to make you welcome.

Fascinating period building and absolutely clean and classy Great patron experience especially Isabelle at the front office is a true patron engager Restaurant and Bar is an architectural marvel, truly one of a kind Gourmet food and interesting mixology inspirations and wide array of wines GM Yngve Hansen is one of the finest GMs i have come across in Europe, a true patron focused GM Great service at the restaurant Superb Location The rating in Booking.com for the first time does not show the true picture of this hotel

The breakfast spread can be modified and changed every third day to bring in new experience for folks who stay for 3 or more days

Very good hotel: clean, quiet, excellent location close to Bryggen and Old Bergen, wonderful breakfast, friendly staff. It's worth what yo pay for.
