11/10 for this lovely guesthouse. By far the best place we stayed at. Wonderful friendly hosts, superb breakfast, clean and comfortable, nice extra little touches for a homely feel.

Very beautiful and comfortable guesthouse just 10 minutes by car from Akureyri. The house is absolutely gorgeous and the hosts are very kind and helpful. The breakfast was excellent! A perfect place to relax and meet other people !

Everything! Wonderful host and amazing breakfast.

Wonderful place, we felt there like home. Hosts gave us cool tips about the region, we even went for a horse ride by recomendation! It's not just a guesthouse, we were treated like a family. Furthermore, the whole house is tastefully decorated (huge treat for my wife), it's much better and cosier than any other hotel in the world. Hopefully we will be back there soon!

Unbelievably nice guesthouse. We've booked 3 rooms and effectively had a portion of the house to ourselves, including the bathroom. The hosts are lovely people, the terrace with a hot tub is a perfect place to relax and the breakfast is one of the best I've had.

Nice location 10 minutes away from Akureyri. Kind and helpful host. Lovely cozy room. Tasty breakfast.

If I have to pick anything... Shared bathroom is not great, but not a big deal.

Home sweet home. Large and gorgeous. Everything is special. Relaxing corners. Wonderful geothermal water tub outside. Great breakfast on a friendly table! Comfortable rooms with divine linens. Best of all warm care of the hosts.

Warning: 2 bathrooms to share with the occupants of 4 rooms. It wasn't a problem, but if you mind of a private toilet it is not for you.

The hosts were both fantastic, friendly, and helpful with local information. I am an early riser and had breakfast each morning (amazing breakfast) with on my own with great conversation one on one. They also filled the hot tub just for me one evening.

I love this property, every little thing inside the house it’s in the perfect place situated, the hosts are lovely, breakfast delicious !

The people, simply. Our hosts were so kind and accommodating. Probably the most impressive/tasty breakfast we had in Iceland. This was my fiancée's first time staying in a B&B, so she was pretty apprehensive at first, but by the time she left her perspective had completely changed. The hosts are the best in Iceland without a doubt. Thank you, both!

Super friendly hosts. They warmly welcomed us and took their time to socialise with the guests. As both hosts being locals, they could tell us a lot about the living in Iceland. In the morning we enjoyed a delicious breakfast with local products and even homemade bread. The room and the gigantic bathroom were spotless.

This is the most beautiful guesthouse I ever visited! Everything was so truly comfortable and thoughtfully decorated! I didn‘t know there is such a place on Earth! The breakfast was the best we had during our trip through Iceland!

Enchanted home with all the amenities of robe, toiletries, and decor. Inviting hosts for evening snack and an elegant brunch better than any restaurant with the chef’s special touches. So close a drive to Akureyri yet away from the city in a lovely sea area. Don’t miss the fun Christmas House nearby as recommended by the hostess. The Guesthouse is the best way to have a chance to meet locals for a chat. Thank you for your hospitality!

Of course a private bath is preferred but mine was adjacent so no real bother.

Best place we stayed in Iceland. beautiful house that makes you feel like home. nicest breakfast served by nicest owners. great facilities and usage of hot-tub was a plus. would definitely go back!

Hrefna has nailed hospitality. We had a wonderful stay and I can't thank our hosts enough. We feel so lucky to have met this fantastic couple and to have shared some time in their house where we felt at home and genuinely welcomed. The breakfasts are the best we have had anywhere, and surpass even a chic hotel in the capital by far. Dietary requirements? Just ask. Hrefna adapted her signature breakfast dish as soon as she found out my husband was limiting his sugar intake because I hadn't said before arrival. But the choice is vast and varied -and beautifully presented - so most people should be more than happy. The rooms are comfortable and spotlessly clean. The shared bathroom was never a problem - and always clean. The hot-tub was a plus - when they persuaded us to use it for our well-being. It was so relaxing and the view amazing. You can feel the love that Hrefna puts into her business, and her desire to engage and exchange with her guests. But if you prefer to be left alone she adapts to everybody's wishes. An art that not many have mastered. Ásar Guesthouse is exceptional and very worthy if its 10.

Close to Akureyri, quiet setting surrounded by nature, tastefully decorated house. Owners Hrefna and Árni make guests feel like home. Was offered the option to join them for home cooked dinner, which was as exceptional as the breakfast. Thoroughly enjoyed our conversations over dinner and breakfast.

The property was beautiful. It was in a lovely location and the building itself was gorgeous inside and out. The hosts were two of the most lovely people I have ever met, and welcomed us into their home and made us feel like family. We all ate together (but it was made clear that we could have eaten alone if we preferred) and were served delicious food. We spent hours swapping stories and chatting (again, our choice. Our room was totally private and we could have just retired there for the night if we were tired). There was also a hot tub out back that the hosts filled it for us and even brought out drinks while we were in it. The house was spotlessly clean as well, which added to our comfort. The showers had great water pressure and were lovely and hot (powered by geothermal water!) A fantastic place to stay that we will recommend to everyone.

That it is not closer not closer to our own home!

Fantastic stay. Best guesthouse of my trip in iceland! Don't miss the dinner! The food is delicious and almost everything is homemade. The hosts are great, open to talk and tell u about iceland. The hot tub with the view was great. This was the only guesthouse where I could discuss for hours with Icelanders. I will come back for sure!

the house was beautifully decorated, very clean. The owners were beyond nice and welcoming. we’ve had the best (easter) breakfast. not only they provided the food but stay throughout the whole breakfast and engaged conversation between guests. I would definitely be back when around!

I had a wonderful stay. Super clean, comfortable, and luxurious, with a delicious breakfast. Hrefna and Arni are great hosts.

The hosts were amazing and welcoming, the atmosphere was warm and lovely. Everything was tidy and stylish. All the facilities were high quality including the shampoo and especially the breakfast. On top of all this, we were lucky to watch the northern lights while bathing in the hot tub !
