We loved the town and the location of the villa as well as the very responsive and friendly staff. We really loved the views from the villa as well and how close it was to the beach, restaurants, markets. An incredible experience.

The roads going up the villa are very bumpy/rugged so you will definitely need a 4x4, if coming by car. We also experienced insect/ant issues upon arrival but I guess it’s expected given its an open concept home.

We loved the open plan indoor/outdoor living. Having bug screens was a blessing though as the villa is set amongst the trees. It’s a beautiful villa, ideal for a short stay. Our absolute highlight was when a troupe of around 20 monkeys made their way through the trees at the back of the villa one morning.

We had a problem with the shower in one of the bedrooms but a maintenance man was sent out as soon as we flagged the issue. Unfortunately he was unable to resolve the issue as it was the weekend - but we were able to use the third bathroom so disaster averted. Be aware of the note regarding the need for a 4x4. The road up to the villa is steep and littered with deep potholes. In the dry it is just about manageable in a normal car but probably not a good idea in the wet!

Thank you our host Julie for making our holiday stay at Villa Makai fabulous! She was the nicest person giving all the recommendations about the city and welcomed us in such a sweet way. The Villa is beautiful, we enjoyed the pool, while listening to the sounds of the magical Costa Rican wildlife. Enjoyed the barbecue and slept in our rooms, that were comfortable and cute. Recommending this villa to everyone, because it really is beyond the expectations:)

We loved every minute of our stay at Villa Makia in Santa Teresa. The sunsets, the people, the ocean, the food- it was all lovely. The villa was perfect for our family of four. We loved the open air 1st floor, the privacy, and the view. Julie and Martin were great hosts Every activity, restaurant suggestion, and service they recommended was fantastic. Lolo and Geo were great surf instructors! We rented ATV’s to get around which was so fun. It’s a great laid back town. Pura Vida!
