Location and breakfast were excellent.

It was an amazing experience to stay at Straven Guesthouse. I felt at home, the bed was very comfortable and the room was beautiful and warm. Breakfast was a whole variety of delicious dishes, home made and beautiful. The sea front is only a few steps away and I enjoyed walking along the sea promenade to the cafés - and walking along the sea shore. I felt looked after and cared for by Sinead and Chris. Thank you so much !!

Such a gem of a place run by such lovely, friendly people. Very comfortable room, huge bed, homemade toiletries, lots of environmentally-friendly considerations. Great advice for first-time Edinburgh visitors. Lovely breakfast. We had deluxe room, which was on the pricey side but still good value compared to city centre prices. 30 seconds from a gorgeous beach, 30 min bus ride to city centre, and easy street parking. Many restaurants and cafes within 15 min walk.

Chris and Sinead were incredible hosts and made us feel at home from check-in. The breakfast each morning was something we looked forward to each day. It was restaurant quality (wife asked for a recipe) and the soft background music (personal note here) was spot on. Our room was spacious and the bed was very comfortable. The property is located near a bus stop, so getting around isn’t an issue. Lastly, it’s a 2 minute (max) skip down to the beach. It’s one block away.

Excellent varied breakfast. Good choices with interesting options and home cooked. Location excellent. Near to the city on a bus route and within sight of the sea.

Chris and Sinead were so welcoming. They were very knowledgeable when asked questions about the area. The breakfast was lovely too.

We booked the accommodation as a gift for our parents' silver wedding anniversary. They were very excited. Chris and Sinead were great hosts, the rooms are big and clean and the breakfast was great! The two also helped a lot with the loss of luggage. Big praise!

We loved this guest house. A beautifully furnished house with gorgeous decor. The bed was so comfortable and large you couldn't fail to have a good nights sleep. The ethos of the owner is organic which includes the shower gel. Sinead is an amazing host and nothing is too much trouble. Breakfast was amazing so much choice. A guest lounge upstairs is gorgeous and very comfortable. I cannot praise this guest house highly enough. I can't wait to go back.

Tranquil location,beautiful beach at the end of the road and Edinburgh city within easy reach, al our needs were well catered for.

Breakfast was 1class could not fault it, superb breakfast.

The hosts were super lovely and so welcoming. It was mine and my partner's first time in Edinburgh and they told us so many great hints and tips to make our trip better (and ensure we wouldn't get lost!). The location of the guest house is fantastic, right by the seafront and only a 3.5mile walk into the city centre. The breakfasts were incredible, and the hosts took the time to check for any dietary requirements and bought my partner oat milk before we arrived.

Only thing I'd note is there's no toilet brush in the bathrooms, but it's a very minor thing, and isn't an issue for everyone.

This was our second stay at The Straven Guesthouse and just like the first stay, we thoroughly enjoyed it. The hosts are super friendly and the house is clean, warm and comfortable. The breakfast choices are yummy!
