The location was great, the house was cozy and comfortable, and the host was friendly and helpful

The only awkward thing was that the bathroom was off of one bedroom so my daughter had to go through my room to use it. But I understand the space will be renovated soon so that may not be an issue in the future.

There was nothing we didn't like. 🙂 Our host was very friendly and helpful. The kitchen was stocked nicely and even had a Keurig with coffee provided. She also had beach chairs, towels and boogie boards available for us to use. The location was perfect for what we wanted to do. We enjoyed being able to walk or take a short drive to the beach. We also enjoyed a small farmers market set up a block away.

The house is in a great location and it is well equipped with everything a family needs.

The general building conditions are much worse than expected. Floor and windows are in great need of a renewal, everything is squeaking. The bath is only accessible via master bedroom, which was not very clear in the description (although the listing says "adjacent", so in retrospective we should have got it). At arrival, the main door, the kitchen sink and the bath sink did not work properly. The owner was kind and responsive, called the plumbers and got the door lock changed in a couple of days and we got a gift card for the annoyance, but clearly these were not new/unexpected damages, I would expect those things fixed before new guests arrive rather than after.

Amazing location, cute and rustic cottage, very well equipped: it had all we needed and more. Loved the kids toys and beach materials & towels we could use for free! Very friendly and helpful host.

I would have liked it a tad cleaner (less dusty).

We stayed as a family of five in this great self-contained accommodation. In an excellent location near the beach, shops and restaurants, everything we needed and wanted to do in Santa Monica was within walking or bike-riding distance. Melissa presented us with a clean house, well stocked with breakfast options and snacks (which the kids loved!) and was a super friendly and accommodating host. Would definitely stay again.

Upon arrival it was evident that the home was clean and well stocked with plenty of extra towels, pillows and blankets. Our family of four was comfortable and our boys appreciated the space that the living room and dinning room offered over a typical hotel suite. The washer/dryer allowed us make do with carry on luggage and the having a "real" kitchen allowed us the flexibility and value of preparing our own meals and snacks. Melissa was a wonderful host and checked in on us to make sure we were comfortable and offered suggestions on local attractions and the best places to eat. The location of the cottage is excellent, not just for accessing the waterfront Santa Monica/Venice area, but also for accessibility to the rest of LA. Being able to leave in the morning for an adventure and travel unimpeded by rush hour commuters travelling in the opposite direction was something we hadn't fully considered and a real benefit in hindsight. Free parking off the road is another hidden value and we always felt safe and secure.

Our family has grown up with cottages like this one and are used to older buildings with allot of character. Some may not enjoy the cottage "vibe". The photos are an accurate representation of the cottage and despite the age of the cottage, everything "worked" and was clean.

Wonderful location plus parking for 1 car, clean, lots of things provided (towels, cereal, welcome pack, board games etc). Lovely host gave us (great) recommendations on places to eat etc.

If anything beds are a little creaky!
