Pleasant stay at the backwaters of Kerala. Beautiful building, clean rooms and very welcoming and knowledgeable host.

The behavior of the owner is highly commendable. The property has a museum with amazing collections, the owner himself gave descriptions of the collections which were really fascinating. Mr. Mathew, the owner of the property was highly cooperative.

Nice typical keralan house. The owner was very helpful: book ayurveda massage and a bus ticket for me. He loves sharing stories about the house and Kerala. Bonus : You have a nice shop and museum inside the house.

The staff at the hotel were phenomenal and took the meaning of hospitality to another level. They helped us with arranging almost everything in our trip from boat rides to transport. I would definitely come back again and recommend Kumarakom Wood Castle to others.

Everything was perfect from cleanliness, staff, infrastructure, etc, perhaps the only thing was that Kumarakom is like a small town and the only major attractions are the backwaters and birdwatching so I suggest visiting neighbouring Allepey using the government ferry service which is extremely affordable. The staff at the hotel also guided us on how to to that.

Building has loads of character and is above a great curio shop. The family that runs it are friendly and do a great breakfast. On arrival we were given loads and of great tips on what to do nearby and there are 2 bikes you can use for free!

This place was really beautiful! Whoever built the house did so with love and care & made a lovely heritage-like place. The museum and artifacts added to the charm of the place. It was spotlessly clean and the ambience was like home! It was looked after by ladies and they served us excellent meals made with warmth and affection!

Very good, fresh excellent and daily slightly changing Breakfast. We had the local variety with Dosa, Idly, eggs in different ways, tea, coffee, fresh juices, fried Bananas, Pineapples, etc!!! Bicycles are available, so you can discover the neareby surroundings. Very friendly and helpful Staff!!!

Rooms are rather dark and not too spacey although quite nicely furnished.

Fantastic greeting by wonderful hosts. Beautiful clean room and shared seating and dining area. Great advice and guidance from the hosts, including organising transport to our next stay. Excellent food, including dinner on the first evening. Overall a great stay.

Beautiful clean and comfortable home stay. staff very friendly who went out of their way to make our stay comfortable. Breakfast was good with fresh fruits.

The hosts were very welcoming and helpful - they organised a boat tour and massage for us. The use of the bikes was great too. The breakfast was delicious. I highly recommend staying here when in Kumarakom.

Great place to stay at in Kumarakom. Staff are friendly and kind. Rooms were clean and well serviced. Breakfast was great and included freshly watermelon juice which was lovely. Very reasonable prices, and cleanliness better than some 5 star hotels we’ve stayed at! Highly recommend.

Great hospitality from the couple (Shaji & Liji), immaculate and spacious rooms, and tasty food; a Wooden apartment structure is a specialty of this property. Convenient location to Houseboat and Bird sanctuary. Also, good seafood restaurants near this place. The couple is so kind and supportive.
