It is a classic British lodging. Iconic. Lovely. Kind, professional staff. Big breakfast — and good! Clean.

A bit loud outside my small upper window (w/ no view) — still, it was fine. No lift, but I didn’t need it anyway.

Breakfast was excellent. Had both a breakfast bar with cold selections and then a lovely cooked breakfast as well. Room was a little tight with the twin bed configuration but we wanted an en suite room so that made up for it. We picked this location as it was only a short walk to our cousin's house so it was perfect. Free parking is an absolute plus

Duvets. Prefer a light blanket but i know duvets are popular in UK

very pleasant. easy walking distance to the centre of York. Helen and the team were extremely organised, friendly and polite. Room was exactly as described, clean and very quiet.

Breakfast was divine, location was so convenient (and not super touristy), the staff were so accommodating. Couldn’t have asked for a cozier stay.

The lack of conversation from the owners. Self check in was good for us, but during breakfast when we saw the owners they didn't ask us if our room was okay or is everything okay. It would have been nice if they'd introduced themselves because two ladies served at breakfast, an older one who was abit 'straight to the point' and didn't say good morning and the other just asked what we'd like for breakfast. Other guest houses we've stayed in always ask if we've had a good day or what are you doing today? The atmosphere at breakfast was a bit weird too! Didn't feel very welcome to be honest.

There's nothing to dislike

I liked the organization, I was messaged just before our visit explaining everything. Was easy to find and we knew excatly what we had to do. The breakfast was prompt and had the option of two different time slots. Was really yummy and plenty to eat.

Love the charm of this B&B. It feels cosy and doesn't give you the chain hotel vibe. Breakfast was lovely and the landlady is extremely helpful. The location is amazing if you want to walk into York. Another huge plus was the free parking on the street.

There is not much we didn't like apart from our mattresses being very tired and uncomfortable. I believe even a memory foam topper would make a big difference.

the property was a good distance from the city centre, we were able to check in during the evening independently which we loved! The host was lovely and I thought the breakfast orders was very easy and was beautiful both mornings. was very clean and loved the little touches. Room 5 was great very big and the bed was so comfy and en-suite which we didn’t realise,

There wasn’t really anything only suggestion would be the tv in the room didn’t have the best signal and was tiny but it didn’t affect our stay and wasn’t an issue
