I have become a regular at this place. The staff is wonderful, ever so helpful. Great location. Beautiful property.
The lighting in the rooms is much better- I usually stay here the night before exam/ lecturer.
The house itself is warm but I felt a bit cold in my room. The wall heater is not so effective in my view.
I get the energy management issue but for a person who drinks a lot of tea/coffee it does get too much to have to leave the comfort of my room to go get hot water

The hostess Zanele was a lovely lady who made us feel at home the moment we got there. She was so warm and friendly. The breakfast was also delicious and fresh!

The space was just beautiful. Behind the gate, it felt like I had entered another world. The lounge space was so homely and tastefully decorated, it was warm and welcoming. The fireplace and heater added a special touch in one of the coldest weeks. The smell of baking really made it feel like a home away from home. The room was well equipped and was spacious. It was at the back giving me privacy but not isolated. I have found my go to place in Johannesburg.
Understandably due to load shedding, the electric blankets and wall heaters had to be off. I was very cold on some of the nights.

The rooms are clean and cozy, bathrooms very nice as well. It's a small property, fewer than ten rooms and you feel like you're in a home...well, you are, but it's been renovated. Each room has access to an outdoor patio and there is a shared lobby/living room space as well with books and a small bar. Great breakfast and a lovely staff in a nice part of town, w/in 10 min walk to Rosebank mall and local shops.

The guesthouse is neat and really beautiful.
The location is very convenient. And the neighborhood is peaceful and clean.
The staff (im bad with names, i think i interacted mostly with Zanele) were so friendly and made me feel home, I mentioned that Joburg was cold and on the next day a heater was placed in the room- there was already an air conditioner in the room. I thought that was really thoughtful.
I loved the breakfast as well. No complains..

The parking is a bit tricky but it's manageable.

Room was very clean with comfy bed and good linen, doors open onto patio and garden, easy to come and go from guesthouse and honesty bar lovely option. Zanele and co were super friendly, and breakfast was delicious, exactly as ordered. Will definitely return to The Ashford.

The rooms are comfortable and quiet. They are well appointed as well. My room opened up onto the most beautiful wrap around patio which had a little table and chairs for us to sit outside and enjoy the fresh air and good company. There is also an honesty bar which I love and was very convenient when I needed water at midnight.
South Africa and load shedding mean a lack of light and on a very balmy summer evening, this also meant that there was no air conditioner in the room. Lucky load shedding only lasts a couple of hours and then everything was good again.

excellent stay in the safe part of Johannesburg, it has an old vintage style of architecture. staff are friendly and it felt like staying at a country club. breakfast was delicious and fruits were tasty.
