Most staff were friendly, charming and helpful. The food was excellent. It was ideal for us, as we were attending a wedding locally.
Room was small - really a single rather than a double. We had requested a twin, but this had not been actioned (they offered to split the bed, but.this would have made the room even smaller!) furniture a little tatty and worn.
Wherever you stay, the shower should have a non-slip mat (we asked for one, which was forthcoming) . Showers should also be fitted with a grab handle for those not too steady on their feet. Our room was very hot! (Not the fault of the pub, I realise!)

Room was clean and well presented. Staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was really good.

Large room with very comfortable bed and lovely bedlinen. Breakfast was great with a good selection of options. Dinner was good although too large for our needs!
The only thing we would have liked was a lace blind for the bedroom window (like in the en-suite) as it overlooked the beer garden!

The room was bright and airy, it was a very comfortable bed with beautiful bed linen. Towels were big and fluffy. The shower pressure was great. Bathroom and bedroom both well equipped plenty of sockets. Good tea making facilities.
The staff were great and could not do enough to make you feel welcome. Our breakfast and evening meals were delicious, and good value for money. There were plenty of parking spaces available. And it's in a very nice village.

This was our second stay at the Black Dog and we will definitely be returning. The family suite is large and well equipped. All of the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The food both at dinner and breakfast was fabulous. Highly recommend. A great base for visiting Dorset’s coastline and attractions.

Location, ambience.
One of the staff complaining about the chef having to cook breakfast for two people, in front of us. We were the two people.

There was a warm welcome to this delightful inn. The food was excellent - do eat here too. The bedroom was large, clean and comfortable. Ample parking.
A tiny bit of noise from downstairs, but very minimal. Some of the bathroom fittings had seen better days but overall smart clean bathroom.

We liked the friendly atmosphere, the staff were all great. Every aspect of the Black Dog was all you could hope for, for a great holiday.

The room was clean and comfortable with excellent toilet and shower and complete with tea and coffee making facilities.
The full English breakfast was more than enough to start the day off. There was a good selection for alternative items if you didn't fancy a fry up.

The shower was COLD and stating that the room had an ensuite was wrongly listed. The staff made 3 excuses that stopped us leaving after the first morning's cold shower.

Fantastic hidden gem - great location, very friendly but professional and accommodating staff, clean throughout, food was awesome, comfortable and quiet room. Couldn’t fault it so we’ve booked to go back again.
There was nothing not to like - great job to all the staff!
