Location

Noisy room - right on the street - couldn't have the window open because too noisy. Booked it because it said car parking available. However, carpark is public and is on river and you have to walk through a dark tunnel at night to access. Glad we didn't park there as there was loud music coming from the carpark during the evening and it is obviously a hangout for young people. Decided to park near the hotel and paid for parking.

Clean and comfortable bed good linen. Breakfast was nice and reasonable value.

The stairs are a death trap. Being relegated to the attic on one of the hottest days of the year in the smallest room possible because we had booked on booking.com. We were offered an upgrade to a family room for 5 people for €65 when the place was only half full. The room is tiny with high window - no air. The loo door only opens half way - stopped by the bed and neither the light 💡 or show have any natural light. The restaurant is closed - they “lost” the chef. My aunt (almost 80) couldn’t leave the room as she couldn’t cope with the stairs in the heat - it was a sauna! This hotel should be avoided in hot weather.

Friendly reception, good breakfast, nice view on the Loire from our room, free parking in walking distance and last but not least a good starting point for trips in the neighbourhood.

Saumur has a beautiful castle, unfortunately closed on the Monday we stayed in Saumur. For the rest Saumur as a place has little to offer as compared to Tours and Angers.

The staff were all very charming and made every effort to ensure we enjoyed our stay. The location is perfect for a visit to the city, near lots of restaurants, easy walking distance to the Chateaux, visitors information centre, town centre. The rooms are small but pristine. The restaurant attached to the hotel served excellent food. We can highly recommend this hotel. Excellent value, location, staff.

We could hear guests in the rooms above especially when they use their shower. That was really the only negative.

Breakfast was reasonable. It included mini croissants, freshly baked from frozen, a choice of yogurts, orange juice, etc., all cold. The location is good, but as we have we visit Saumur every year for the past 30 years we have tried other accommodation options, which offer better value, based on our experience of Rive Gauche.

Great location near centre of town

The family suite/apartment is in a separate building through a "garage entrance" in a backlane. The exterior is quite off-putting and came as a shock, but the internal conversion is quite spacious and comfortable.

Location excellent. Staff very helpful friendly and welcoming. Restaurant food really good and presentation excellent. The staff have a great working relationship they are an excellent team

I had stayed here a few years ago and was happy enough to return as I was passing through the area again. Nice riverside loaction, easy walk into the centre of Samur or up to the castle. Niclely presented rooms if perhaps a little on the small side. Reasonable breakfast offered. Helpful staff.

Needed a bit more space in the room - but an ingenious use of a difficult corner plot. Grateful for a helpful upgrade on request to reduce the climb up the stairs though.

Alexi was a very helpful host.

It is a small apartment but all equipment is available. We only stayed a single night for which the place was perfect, but I can imagine even for a longer stay have dinner at home will be comfortable. Also, having the bedrooms separate from each other created some privacy as well.

I really missed a (working) outlet in the bathroom…

Fresh decor in rooms, well furnished without being cramped. Lovely views of the Loire and very close to town for restaurants etc. Saumur is lovely. Excellent breakfast and friendly staff.

tight staircase, no lift - but manageable ..just a niggle if you are old like us!

We were traveling by bicycles and stayed 2 nights during an extreme heat wave. They gave us top floor room- stifling hot, no air conditioning. Thank goodness there was a fan.
