It's basically a hotel/B&B with a reception that is 10+ minutes walk away at Arundel. So if you would like to leave luggage before check in or after check out you will have to drag it between the two hotels. If it's your lucky day, there may be reception staff between 3-10pm only. I specifically asked the day before where I would check in and was told at the Ashley. I arrived at 2pm to find there was no one at Ashley, and had to either wait on the street for more than an hour for someone to open reception at 3pm or drag my heavy luggage to Arundel. I asked to be re-assigned to Arundel, and was accommodated there. Arundel is quite nice. So I didn't actually stay at Ashley and have no idea about quality or cleanliness of the rooms. But I can't imagine how it's possible to run a hotel without reception staff. Most importantly, you won't be able to leave luggage there as there is no one at reception to let you in most hours of the day!!

was clean but really scruffy. reception not always manned and when contacting their sister hotel the Ashburton with a problem they were really unhelpful . phone in room didnt work. some lightbulbs also not working

The full English breakfast was very poor : pre cooked and heated! When mentioned to a member of staff they insisted that it was freshly cooked. On the last day it was freshly cooked and very good!

thought the staff were lovely especially Nicola on reception. nice loacation. clean. great with the parking. beds comfortable. good shower. x

the cooked breakfast couldn’t have been a bit nicer. but the continental was good.

Spacious room with comfortable chairs. Spacious bathroom with good shower. Excellent food. Walking distance to the centre of Cambridge.

Bathroom, although clean, had cobwebs higher up on the walls. Toilet was difficult to flush and seat (underneath) was stained.

Location - Unfortunately I was switched to the Arundel Hotel - Not an issue - Good breakfast

The location is great. Breakfast is very good.

With the hear wave it is too hot in the room. A fan can help to sleep without sweating too much.

The hotel was fine for a night.

It was clean enough for as the decor was so dated there were old stains in places - woodwork, capret etc.

The decor out dated (something out of Dallas/Dynasty)& the building needs updating ie paint, put in new windows, cobwebs in the porch to name but a few, the cooked breakfast was horrible. egg was dry, sausage tasteless & who likes smoked bacon, this should only be used in a burger or added to flavour a meal. It was like a scene out of faulty towers (70’s comedy). For £110 we expected much better

Room exceptionally comfortable with two armchairs and two bedside lights and good lighting overall.

We had stopped at this hotel a couple of times before, so we knew the car park was good and the rooms and breakfasts would be good. It is only a short walk into the city centre either by one of the parks or direct along the road and over one of the bridges.

I could not find any fault with it.

Ashley House is closed, and has been for some time, pending extensive building work. You should not be accepting booking for it or use photographs of it After some difficulty, as the information you gave use did not include the house number of the Malvern Hotel, we located this and found that our booking had been transferred there. No complaints about the Malvern Hotel, but if we had known that we were booked in there it would have saved a lot of hassle.

I booked into the Ashley Hotel but I was transferred to Arundel House Hotel so this isn't a review for Ashley and I can't comment on that hotel. The Arundel met all my expectations. The location was perfect for visiting the city. Car park is easily accessible. Bed was comfortable. Hot water in the bathroom was plentiful.

With experience of professional cleaning I noticed that the rooms weren't as clean as they should be. This really should be improved. There were crumbs on the bedroom table. The dressing table mirror was smeary and the bathroom had layers of dust in places. The bathrooms need to be upgraded but they were perfectly adequate. There was a strange noise in the walls on Sunday evening. Water pipes? A creature in the wall?

Room was a good size, well laid out and the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice and the location is close to the city where we needed to be.
