Once you've taken note of the correct description (see below), you will have an wonderful stay at Secularis Capital! The apartment could not be in a better location: in the safe embassy district of the city, and only a few minutes' walk from the lovely Prainha ("little beach") where you can relax, swim, or enjoy an evening meal at the beach restaurant. Directly opposite the apartment is a hotel where Secularis Capital guests can enjoy a discounted price at the excellent buffet breakfast. There is also a taxi rank just outside where you can hail a cab to take you to the minibus station only a few minutes' drive away. From here, you can travel by minibus to anywhere on the island. The apartment is basic, but it is clean and has everything you need. Both the owner, Carlos, and the housekeeper, Ana, are extremely accommodating. They will assist with any queries and provide anything extra you need. Their English is limited, so do remember to pack a phrasebook if you do not speak Portuguese. Carlos even arranged both exchange of currency, and a tour by car of the local area on arrival, at no extra charge. As for the other guests, I found they were very respectful when it came to sharing the kitchen and bathroom. You will get to meet some very interesting people, and everyone shares their travel tips! I doubt you'd find better value for money, and the location is perfect, so I recommend Secularis Capital - especially if this is your first visit to Cape Verde.

**Description needs correcting!** As others have noted, the description is wrong. It's advertised as a two-bedroom apartment (exclusive use), but it's actually one bedroom in a shared three-bedroom apartment. I was not the only guest who was surprised on my arrival to find I was sharing with others - two people said the same to me. To add to the confusion, there are three duplicate listings on booking.com ('Secularis Capital', 'Secularis Capital 1', and 'Secularis Capital 2'). In practice there are three apartments in the building (ground floor = owner's, middle floor = holiday apartment, top floor = currently long-term let). It should also be noted that the breakfast and pool are actually courtesy of the hotel opposite (although very good - and owner Carlos has negotiated a discount for the breakfast, so it's recommended!) I did find the mattress very hard, as some others have also noted. They are the same in all the rooms - I checked in between lettings. However, other guests I spoke to during my stay, from other European countries, were very happy and said they liked a firm mattress - so I guess it's a matter of personal preference and what you're used to in your home country. Also, if you are not used to sleeping in a hot climate, you may struggle with the lack of air conditioning: the temperature in Praia does not drop much at night. However, efficient fans are provided in each bedroom. The Wi-Fi needs an extra booster - currently there are only boosters on the top and bottom floors, not on the middle floor where the holiday apartment is, so the signal is very weak.

Prai is not for tourists. used it as a stop before Tarrafal. the hotel opposite Peatana Tropico saved the stay. had breakfast lunch dinner there and used pool and bar

communal areas we thought were private. owner arranged an expensive lift from airport, but then he did us a good deal for 90 min journey to tarrafal

I booked the complete flat but I found another guest inside . Internet is not working in the entire flat but only in the lunch room

The owner and woman who work there are very kind. The spot is good. Between the old city and the beach.

The woman does not speak English, the owner a little bit. The beds were really hard and uncomfortable. Booking says you'll get your own bathroom but you have to share it with two other rooms. You have to hold the shower head. There is no wifi in the room, only in the common living room.

The apartment is very clean, airy and spacious with a lovely view of Farol, the Lighthouse. Very nice amenities as well. Attention to detail A plus. Excellent property that I highly recommend.
