LOTS OF ROOM AND PRIVACY

From day one I had trouble breathing in the house and my throat, lungs, and eyes burned to the level that I had to leave the property after only a couple of nights and find another place. My wife stayed and tried to remedy the situation, but she began experiencing the same symptoms so we contacted the host and notified her that we would like to move out due to the poor air quality. She stated that she would like to try and fix the situation, and to her credit she made reasonable attempts to do so. Unfortunately, they didn’t change things enough to be able to live in the house. We asked to move out – giving one month's notice – and for a refund for the remaining time (this was a four-month rental). That’s when the fun started. Most direct questions about the situation (aka, we’re not able to stay in the house, what can we do about a refund?) went unanswered. When she did respond, the host consistently avoided the matter and instead accused us of breaking house rules, “gaslighted” us, called us liars, threw out random psychobabble (we’re apparently good at “projecting”) and cited reports of wrongdoings from a family member living in the area that did random drive-byes. The host would also send vague and confusing emails. In one she’d tell us that we “could move out or not, but there will never be a refund,” only to send message a week later saying that we needed to move out by the end of the week and that we would get a refund after we moved out, then later emailing us that VRBO said that she did not have to give us a refund (VRBO consistently told us that this is NOT the case). This went on for the remainder of the rental term without a resolution/refund. On top of that, in March we saw the host’s sister creeping in the bushes, peeking through the fence into the backyard. We contacted the host to tell her to stop having her family members spy on us which she said were lies (the sister was on the phone with the host when we walked up). She also told us, “You must be guilty of something if you think people are spying on you.” She followed up with texts accusing us of everything from tearing a sign off and breaking a valve or turning it on/off – still unclear – to generally just being bad people. Next day we get a charge through VRBO to pay an extra utility fee. Couldn’t make this s**t up if I tried! So, we called the cops to see what could be done about an unstable, harassing landlord that has relatives doing recon. Good times!

The property is so beautiful! It’s large and very well maintained. You’re close to the park, downtown and campus. It’s an excellent location for walking or biking. We spent the month of July there so we could enjoy the pool (the photos don’t do it justice - it’s huge!) and spend time with friends and family in CA. The house has everything you will ever need and is great for gatherings. Cherise was so responsive, accommodating and friendly. It made it an even better experience. We look forward to staying there again!

We had an amazing experience staying at this property, the host, Cherise, went over and beyond to help us feel her hone was our home. I highly recommend this Vrbo for family gatherings and all the peace and tranquility it has to offer.

What an amazing place to stay, we really felt like we were miles away from the neighbors but in reality were 3mins from downtown Chico. The whole place really felt like home! We enjoyed the backyard with such a beautiful pool! We had fun playing games next to the fireplace! I love to cook and the kitchen was perfect with a bar connecting dining room so we could all still interact as I cooked❤️ Such a cozy wonderful place!!! Cherise is an amazing host!!! We felt so welcomed and right home! We all really had a beautiful time and enjoyed how peaceful and serene it is!! What a blessing to have stayed there!!! We are already planning sometime in the summer. Thank you so much for having us!!!🌸
