Avis
My first impression upon arrival at Legacy 802 was that the front door belonged to Ma and Pa Kettle's house (if you are a boomer like me you will get that reference). It was in very bad shape and either needs a good cleaning & repainting or needs to be replaced. Inside, we found 5 bedrooms (4 ensuite), a spacious kitchen that was stocked with plenty of plates, baking dishes, cutlery (although few more forks would be nice) and glassware.
As we settled in the condo, we found 2 broken bar stools set off to the side of the kitchen. 2 barstools remained--but only one was the right size for the island/pensinsula--the other was too tall. Plus, the dining table had only 6 chairs.
Simple math tells you that when there is a 5-bedroom condo, your party would most likely consist of 7-8 adults, 3-4 kids.
Where is everyone going to sit for meals?? You need at least 5-7 barstools for as large as the island/peninsula is and for how many people the condo accommodates.
Our solution was to bring in patio chairs for our Thanksgiving dinner.
Over the next few days of our stay, we noticed several things were not working as expected from a condo that is probably in the million-dollar range:
(1) The closet doors were off the tracks in 2 of the guest bedrooms
(2) The bathroom attached to the bedroom closest to the front door (with the window facing into the breezeway/exterior hallway), has a leaking tank seal. Every time you flushed the toilet, a little amount of water seeped out towards the toilet seat.
(3) The same bathroom from item #2 needs a blackout curtain. The only window faces the hallway and has 24/7 fluorescent light shining in.
(4) Another bedroom had an unusable lamp--the harp was broken and the lampshade could not be made to stand upright (it was the only bedside lamp in the room).
(5) The 'bunkroom' guest room needs a side table with a lamp to hold your eyeglasses, phone, iPad, etc.
(6) Kitchen needs a pair of scissors
(7) overall, the decor is OK--but some of the furniture is pretty worn with scratches and scuffs; paint touch-ups are needed throughout the unit
(8) The only cutting board is made of glass, is very old and makes a lot of noise. Please update to a plastic or butcher block version--I never felt safe using the glass one.
On the positive side:
The side-by-side refrigerator looked relatively new, made a lot of ice, and held a LOT of groceries.
Great hot water in the kitchen and good water pressure in the showers.
We appreciated the containers of anti-bacterial liquid soap that were provided.
Lastly, a personal pet peeve of mine:
Please install a 3-way lightbulb when a lamp accommodates one.
It is so nice to have a low, medium, and high setting lightbulb when watching TV, knitting and/or reading. Not a single lamp had a 3-day bulb throughout the condo and there were 2 lamps in the livingroom, 2 in the MBR and (I think) 2 more in the guest bedrooms.
Would I stay here again? Not unless we need another 5-bedrooms all on one floor (condo vs a house) and the condo is updated.
