This Hotel booking arrangements were the worst I have ever experienced. After making the booking/payment on-line I swapped e-mails with the establishment and as foreshadowed arrived at 2pm to be told room not available till 3pm. On returning I provided my details and Driver's License as ID - only to be told they would not accept a booking from anyone living in Queensland - the basis of this rational was never clearly stated. The Hostel declined to refund my payment and declined to provide any assistance (other than name of one other hotel but not its address) to find another room at 3pm on Easter Monday - being a busy time. After a long walk I found another hotel, staying the night without incident. I consider the bahaviour totally unacceptable - if the prohibition on all Queenslander's is justified, it should be clearly stated as part of the reservation. As a holder of Genious status, I have never been subject to such treatment. I forwarded an e-mail to Booking.com outlining the situation yesterday morning - unclear if will receive a response. Great location - just in front of the lagoon and besides the night market, so plenty of restaurants and shops nearby. Well equipped kitchen and nice lounge with small pool. Self check-in is a great option for the late arrival.

My single room was very small and had no window. Air con was old and very noisy. My bed sheet had stains on it (it was changed next day though when I asked). Common areas is too hot and some renovation would be good.

Our room was so clean and the location was great . We loved it . Nothing over the top but you definitely can’t complain. Highly recommend

The owner was very nice and quick to respond to any problems. Location is very good. We can access the night market and sea side soon.

Some guests were making noise in the kitchen even late at night (1 AM)

I think it's a hostel trying to be both a hostel and a hotel, which is fine but still a bit of work to do on the hotel bit. For example, my room did not have soap, just some hand wash and the pillows were on their last legs. There were no tea/coffee making facilities or mini fridge in the room but these were available in the shared kitchen

Everything was good and staff was very cooperative.
