Great location for getting around Kyoto and beyond. Excellent breakfast buffet. Staff was very helpful, but not too many fluent in English. Great location; however, Kyoto Station is always hectic and frenetic — sometimes it gets to you.

Very nice hotel with a practical location.
The gym was ok but you had to pay for the fitness facility every each day you used it. Furthermore, it opened up late in the morning (7am) which is very annoying when you want to start the day early.

This hotel is located in the center of kyoto station. Was a little tricky to find getting off from one of the local trains but once we hit the central gate we saw the signs. The hotel is huge and the staff are more than accommodating. They were super nice and all spoke English. The hotel accepts and provides luggage forwarding. Our room was spacious for a Japanese hotel and very clean. There are tons to do in the station alone but we chose this hotel as its in a nice central location to all of the major things and sights in Kyoto

The room was clean, and the maids cleaned the room very nicely everyday. The room I stayed in was a bit far from the elevators, but that’s a good way to ensure you get your steps for the day. The location is very convenient with easy access to Kyoto station.

We booked this hotel for 3 nights, and planned to move to Osaka for 4 nights. Since the concierge is so nice and helpful, we cancelled the Osaka hotel and stayed in this one for 7 nights straight. The hotel is very convenient located inside the Kyoto train station. Which offers big shopping center, many restaurants ( make sure you find them) and shops. The room is big. Highly recommended.

This was my 5th stay at Hotel Granvia. What a dream to stay at a hotel located within the Kyoto Station - an escalator away from the subway and Shinkansen. The most convenient hotel in Kyoto. Also, many of the day tours outside of Kyoto met at the Kyoto Station. Love how I can forward my heavy luggage to my next hotel to make my train ride pretty much hands free! The hotel lounge offers a delicious variety of sandwiches and desserts. There is fine Japanese dining as well as a convenient gift shop with best Japanese souvenirs. Hotel Granvia is my #1 choice for all amenities!

Outstanding hotel! Room was beautiful and had lots of signage in English explaining how everything worked including shower system. Staff went out of their way to make sure that needs were met. Concierge staff service level just incredible. I wasn’t feeling well and they contacted nearby medical facilitiy, made arrangements to be seen by Doctor and gave me a map and clear directions how to get there. Also advised me that he spoke English and a pharmacy was conveniently located next door. We already have two more reservations for this property in the near future.

The instructions to get to the hotel from the train station are poorly made and very confusing. We ran around the RR station with large duffles for >20mins before we ventured upstairs in to different ditto find the hotel. And we won’t even start about the directions on the RR station that are basically all in Japanese, and nobody can understand except the Japanese.

Amazing service, great access to transportation - central to to all trains and buses making it really easy to get anywhere in Kyoto and Nara. If possible get a breakfast meal plan - really great way to start each day's adventures.

Despite being on top of a Transport hub, our room was very quiet. We love everything about this hotel. Breakfast is very good with large variety of choices. We definitely recommend staying here.

Watch for additional charges for kids upon check in. I had indicated the number of kids and their ages in the Expedia booking so I was surprised when upon check in they requested addition cost because “this hotel treats all guests as adults”. I escalated to management but they did not honor the prepaid Expedia price and insisted on an uncharge. Also, kids are NOT allowed in pool. Only 18 and up. So much for treating all guests as adults no matter their age! Location was awesome, room very nice, great bathrooms. Just quirky pricing.

Located in Kyoto station, very convenient. Could not hear the trains. Close to transport and lots of food options. Lovely staff. My only complaint would be carpet in the toilet which is odd, but I would happily return to this hotel.

Excellent property that’s centrally located in Kyoto. Booked a regular room for one night then moved to the premium rooms with access to executive lounge. Perfect stay! Excellent staff, delicious food, clean rooms - would recommend and happily return.

Great hotel and right in the centre of Kyoto. It’s very convenient to travel to everywhere within Kyoto. The hotel looks amazing and the room was superb. The breakfast was pretty comprehensive. Definitely recommend to anyone and I certainly would be happily staying there again in the future.

Great hotel. We stayed for a week in Aug '24; family of 4 in two rooms.
Highlight: the ladies at the concierge desk. During the stay I left my phone in a cab and they were instrumental in getting it back. We asked them various travel related questions every day of our stay and they were super helpful each time.
Otherwise, hotel was a great hub for travel to other cities. Walking distance to great food, sights and shopping. Amazing to get out of bed and be on a train or in a taxi within minutes. After long travel days with kids great to get off a train and be in bed within minutes.
The only miss was the rules around the pool. I picked the hotel specifically due to the pool but it doesn't allow kids except for 7-9am, plus costs 1000yen per person to use. Hotel should reconsider these rules.

Hotel Francis was a very convenient hotel when comin to Kyoto on the Shinkansen. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely come again.

Conveniently located especially when using trains and buses . We stayed 8 nights as we did a lot of day trips and local sights . The staff was always helpful . Our room had lounge access and that was just wonderful with all the foods and drinks offered after breakfast until evening hours .
