Nice place. Only small issue is that the buffet can be organized better. They let 2 people occupy a 6 people table. Other guests occupy the remaining chairs and there's no privacy.

The toilets and bathrooms had a horrible smell from drainage. They really need to take care of this for this to be a 4 star hotel. The rooms need remodeling. Switches were broken.

My experience at Grand Chennai was excellent. On arrival, we were promptly attended to and service staff ushered us to the room explaining the facilities within the room. Breakfast exceeded our expectations. Just one minor comment at the cereal counter, the bowls and milk should have been replenished without requesting. I have to request for it on various days. However, staff attended to my request promptly. Special mention to one of the staff Ushmitha, very helpful and promptly attended to our request.
Aside from the positive comments, I believe some improvements can be made in restaurant staff's communication skills. Guest should never be turned away when approached for meals, even when nearing closing time. Instead, we witnessed a hand gesture (indicating the restaurant is closed) made by one staff to another who were negotiating for alternate arrangement. Noticing this we left the restaurant as the staff were not prepared to attend to us. Certainly, some training can be provided to this respect.
Otherwise, a pleasant stay and would choose Grand Chennai in my next visit. Thank you.

This hotel had the best breakfast buffet of all the places we stayed in South India! Very large selection with made to order foods! The dining area is beautiful. They also have peanut snacks at the front that are complimentary for guests. The location was great, and the staff was helpful. They even packed us breakfast to-go on our last day, as we had to leave before the breakfast start time.

The staff at the reception are unaware and share misleading information. For example we were told the buffet is open when it was actually closed and then they told us to go upstairs and order room service. Completely wasting our time. The reception staff also have a hard time speaking/ understanding English and Tamil. So when they answer the phone (they take so long to answer), they don’t understand what we are saying. The reception phone line should not take that long, all other hotels answer so much faster. All other staff have been great, I think the reception team was terrible and have definitely provided me with misleading information numerous times.

Staff is very helpful and friendly. Breakfast is good. The hotel is right next to the shopping area of Chennai, Pondy Bazaar. Silk is dirt cheap in India so it was fun shopping along Pondy Bazaar. Tailors charge 400rupees per pants or blouse so I had several outfits made. All these in the area of the hotel. There is a supermarket a block away from the hotel.

Our group was fairly comfortable. The staff worked hard.The rooms were pretty much worn. Most of the light switches in my room were damaged. The dining is geared towards non vegetarians. The general aesthetic was a bit too gaudy. Finally we lost a pair of pants in the laundry. We probably would not pick GRT again in the future.

We have been a Customer of GRT Hotel for 10 years now, my chennai trips always starts with this hotel booking.Right from our landing, airport pickup and ease of check-in even at ood hours, its always a breeze. We really love the welcoming atmosphere given by your wonderful reception staffs, house-keeping and dining crew. Food, service, homely feel and safety are the key factors for us to stay in your hotel.
To mention specifically, Mrs. Varalakshmi (House keeping manager) is excellent, always makes us welcomed with our personable chat and enquiring on our stay and making sure its comfortable. She always goes above and beyond on her work and managing her staffs.
On the housekeeping, we were very impressed with Nithya on her customer friendly approach, professionalism and sincerity on her work.

During our vacation, we stayed at this hotel twice. The hotel is really cozy, and the staff is very friendly. The food was high-quality and delicious, even for my wife, who has a special diet (gluten-free), found suitable and tasty options. We booked a room at a 5-star hotel, but being there felt more like a 6-star experience. We'll definitely use the same hotel every time we visit Chennai in the future! Thank you to the entire staff!
