We enjoyed our stays however was overwhelmed by the rules on staying at the property the book lists was over the top and felt unwelcoming especially if you stay a minute over 10am checkout time they charge $20 per hour, the kitchen was good however not really clean the pots and pans need upgrading the owner was not friendly so made us uncomfortable on arrival. Maybe kids would like it with all the animals around the dogs were the best part so lovely.

It was most unique, a railroading buff would love it. A bit pricey but we didnt have other options. A vintage NZ train car you could sleep, eat and bathe in.

We stayed in the yurt for one night. The owner was super friendly and considerate. He provided great hospitality to our family with a clean and fun yurt space, private bathroom, breakfast including fresh free range eggs and other breakfast options. My kids and I also enjoyed feeding and encountering the different types of farm animals onsite. Overall, we were very happy to stay in Wacky Stays. Highly recommended!

The places you could pick to stay in, the fresh air, the uniqueness, the animals, the quietness, the old school ness!!!

Awesome place to stay for a night “glamping” in Kaikoura. Family friendly. Loved the Llama trekking taster walk & feeding the farm animals. Very memorable and would recommend.

This is a great location a few KMs from Kaikoura. We wanted quiet and we got it. Set in lovely ground kept by the family it was simply lovely. The farm cottage is old but that is part of the experience the floors are uneven some doors you have bend a little to get in. This simply reflects the different eras in which additions or repairs where done. this cottage can sleep around 8 people comfortably (I am allowing for the couch as well). Great water pressure, big lawn for the kids or maybe you could bring the caravan for a fee and park up with the rest of the family the outdoor space is wonderful. The stove worked perfectly, outdoor BBQ and Pizza oven, things for the kids to do including long necked sheep sorry Llama's or similar. The person welcoming us was excellent Kevin (owner) gave us a good rundown. I really enjoyed this site while it is not new it is definitely comfortable and great for a family or group of friends

Very quirky which is what you expect when booking at a place called Waky Stays. Accommodation was clean and neat, but do be prepared to live among the animals. We stayed in the Tipi and it was raining but everything stayed dry and warm.

We loved our stay in the tepee - lots of thoughtful touches including fresh eggs for breakfast.

Three adults and two boy's (11 and 6) spent two nights in the farm cottage at Wacky Stays. Really enjoyed our stay, the boy's especially the youngest couldn't get enough of feeding and seeing the animals, and both of them made full use of the ride on pedal tractor, heaps of room for them to run around too. Wacky Stays very obliging and friendly, look forward to staying again.

We stayed in the farm cottage which was very clean and tidy. The heat pump warmed up the house very well and all the rooms were presented nicely. The kids loved feeding the animals in the morning and the staff were very friendly. We had all the privacy we wanted and the owner was very helpful.

Absolutely charming Kiwi experience. Warm reception with thorough tour, comfortable and cute (we were in the farm house), and we very much enjoyed feeding the animals in the morning! Highly recommend!

I booked wacky stays as a quirky one night stop for myself and family. The place met and exceeded my expectations... it was Amazing! The staff were lovely and all the different stays had us really excited about returning and staying in one of their other stays. Definitely recommend

This is a great place to stay! The attention to detail of the property was outstanding - the lights, the cool qwerks, everything was superb. The view was great and the lamas just over the fence were no problem at all.

We stayed at the farmers cottage for one night. The house was clean and the beds were very comfortable. We had a fully contained kitchen, cosy living area and spacious garden. The animal feeding tour was also amazing. Overall, it was a nice stay.

It is exactly what it says it is - Wacky! A unique stay in a rural location unlike the motel stays we had had on the trip so far.

Its a bit hard to find, so have a map printed or a NZ sim card to track it. Once youre there, there are signs. Definitely rural (with the animals), so its quiet and can be quite relaxing. Wacky, yes, and rather fun. The wagon has the best view, but the bed in the gypsy truck was quite comfortable. Owner and workers work with you and try to make all go well. Responsibilities are given to the visitor, such as recycle, wash all dishes, etc.

Had a wonderful stay in the colonial wagon. Did a llama trek with the owner. That was fun. Would recommend it to everyone.

Animals feeding is strictly at 8.15am and 3.15pm. 1 of the bedroom has no power sockets and is quite cold as the portable heater cannot be connected.

Fun night with all the farm animals. All supplies provided for cooking plus a frig stocked for breakfast in the am. The Tee-pee was great and large enough for 4 people

The animal feeding experience was fantastic for the kids in the morning. The host was helpful. We were pretty happy but we were really put off by the huge lists of conditions in the welcome booklet. Long lists explaining that, for example if a towel went missing we would be charged $45 and slippers $25. It was an insinuation that clients are dishonest. Never seen such a list in a place. Otherwise it was good.

The farm cottage was great with children as there was plenty of room, they loved the playhut and ride on toys. The farm animal feeding was fabulous opportunity for city kids to see domestic animals up close. The DVD's were a lovely wind down from a day of sun and surf. Beautufully appointed cottage with many little extras. Thanjs

We loved the whole experience, very unique. Only complaint would be, a bit more upkeep to the facilities for example the lights in the outdoor area didn’t work and the click start on the pizza oven no longer works but wasn’t stated in the instructions. But overall we had a good time, very relaxing and loved the animals. Pretty cool staying in a colonial wagon.

A very pleasant stay at a surprising location with a range of quirky accommodation units. We stayed in the cottage but other units included a teepee, a yurt and a gypsy wagon. Reception upon arrival was very good.

We loved staying in the train! My 6 year old picked it and was very pleased. Tiny house living - cozy & has everything! You can even help feed all of their farm animals twice a day. A real highlight for all! Would recommend and hope to come back again...

It was very nice and we had a view of the Llama field. I would recommend it for children because there is a farm open 8:15-4:00. The farm is fun because you get to feed the animals.
