This hotel was absolutely amazing. The room was perfectly clean and very modern and comfy. There were so many lovely bathroom amenities which were replenished everyday. The bath and shower were both great. There were free drinks and snacks available in the hotel everyday which were a lovely touch. The staff were so helpful and polite.

Friendly staff and accommodation was attractive and comfortable. However, a bit of a far walk (at least 10 minutes) from stations and any main attraction. But there are bars and restaurants close to the hotel.

In the beginning I booked it for its beautiful bath tub and the fact it had a washer/dryer, but then the location and access to everything was the cherry on top. Great location with lots nearby!

This hotel was an absolutely amazing during our time in Kyoto. It was clean, spacious, and relaxing. The individual onsen in our room was an added bonus. We will definitely come back and stay for our next Kyoto trip!

Felt special the moment we arrived. Rooms were big and had all sorts of great amenities. The beds were the best. Big bonus was the washer/dryer. Every afternoon they have saki and snacks available for all guests. This isn’t at an extra cost. I would stay here again.

Pretty clean and modern property. Location is okay but not great for the typical tourist destinations. We ended up using taxis several times. Reasonable walk to Nishiki Market, close to a Family Mart and about 10 minutes to the train station. Room is very nice with one exception- the bed is really hard. I wouldn’t describe it as firm. It was hard. We asked for mattress toppers but they didn’t have any. Since we couldn’t sleep well, it took a lot away from our stay. Washer/dryer was the reason we booked this room and that part was great. Staff speaks limited English, which is understandable, but their willingness to be helpful varied. Drip coffee in the lobby is low quality.

Property was lovely the room and the bath was fabulous and locations was amazing. The only thing I didn’t like is that the cleaning staff forgot the garbage bag on my open suitcase so on my clothes which was quite disgusting.

The room is extremely clean and a short walk to most things. The staff is polite, but hospitality is missing. I asked if someone could drop off cream and sugar to my room at 7am and the receptionist said to come down and get it myself. I was not aware that you had to order breakfast 4 days before the stay until reading a google review. When I asked to add on breakfast, the receptionist offered a bag of bread….

One of the best hotel I stayed in Japan and many country. Large room on japanese standard. Smack in a nice neighborhood and cultural site. Great service with good command of english. Bonus: good sake choices (free).

This is our second time staying at nol Kyoto sonjo because we love how clean, spacious and minimal the rooms are. The wooden tub is definitely a plus. The location of the property is perfect and the staff is always kind and accommodating. This is the only hotel we will stay when visiting Kyoto!

The hotel was perfect, easily one of the best we’ve stayed at on our trip for the price. The room was spacious, clean and had a ton of amazing amenities including a huge wood tub, in-room laundry and very comfortable beds. Close to the subway, local attractions and great restaurants.

We recently stayed here and we loved it! We booked the Hibaburo deluxe and the room exceeded our expectations. It was spacious, a beautiful space and the amenities were everything we needed (the washing/dryer was super useful to us during our time there). The wooden bathtub was wonderful after a day full of exploring on foot.
This hotel is close to Nishiki markets, public transport and other great sights.
The staff are very helpful and polite and helped us to send our luggage to the next city we visited.
We’d definitely stay again and recommend it highly to anyone considering.

We would definitely stay at nol again in our future trips to Kyoto. The staff were all very helpful and friendly. We loved the idea of nightly free snacks and sake tasting stations. The room was well designed and we enjoyed the wooden bath very much. Everything at the property had so much thought put into it.

The staff were all lovely and very helpful, went out of the way to assist. Terrific area walkable to subway and buses, Nishiki market, tons of shopping & dining, about 15 min walk to the river and a little further to Gion.

Two night family stop over on route to Hiroshima from Tokyo. We all loved the hotel and area. Very easy to walk to local tube station and into main shopping areas. Comms and hotel quality were great, would return. If we ever come back *****.
