Great hotel in good position

Approaching the hotel from the seafront road we were not holding out much hope. The outside is in desperate need of repainting and repair. Arriving in the carpark there was a sign saying to register your car with Reception. What we were not aware of when booking was the £6 daily charge to park. The grounds of this hotel are huge. Why do they need to charge a parking fee?!! It tainted our mood on arrival as did the steps leading upto the Reception. The steps are carpeted and are not the kerb appeal you would expect. Very dusty and dirty. Maybe better to remove the carpet and sweep the steps. Our room was dated but clean and the beds comfortable so we slept well. The staff are friendly and the food is ok.

Very clean hotel and ideally situated. Great views and lovely grounds to walk about. However, beds were very uncomfortable. I think the mattresses have seen better days.

Hotel was clean and well run. Lawns in front to road and beach. Close to marina and ferry. Friendly staff.

The hotel is ageing. It was noisey due to beds being moved several times in the middle of rhe night. The tv was the smallest i have ever seen - 12" screen! Too small to see properly. Breakfast buffet was £10 and choice was very limited.

Warm welcome. Early check in too, thx to the friendly lady on reception. Room Nice and clean, grand sea view with balcony. Lift to floor also. What a shame about the king bed. 1 side was sunk and needs replacing. I did mean to tell reception before i left, but i forgot! Food was real good, well presented and very tasty. And a good price for 2/3 courses. I shall return at some point.

I have already reviewed previously. The hotel felt unloved but the staff were friendly and helpful. The building needs money spent on it. Chairs and stairwell carpets were both worn.

The Location is brilliant, views of the sea when you pull back the curtains in gthe morning. Definetly needs some TLC, the Dining Room staff are great Please buy some new pillows.

If you're looking for five star luxury, spa and swimming pool with a Michelin fine dining restaurant then The Imperial isn't for you! If you're looking for brilliant value for money with fantastic customer service from every single member of staff, delicious freshly cooked food both at breakfast and dinner - 3 course for only £20 and great choices too - drinks that aren't the normal hotel high prices, spotlessly clean rooms with sea views and balconies in the heart of the town set right in the beach then book a stay here, I can highly recommend it! Many thanks for a fantastic stay we will be back.

A lovely hotel but the room, whilst a great size, really needs an update. Bathroom was very cronky

We had pre-booked with Hotels.com so check in was straight forward. The room was as requested, a large double with sea view. A very nice room.

A very average hotel in a good situation but very worn out in places. Dining chairs are hard an uncomfortable. However the staff were lovely, and the food was very good standard. All in all good value trip. Not luxurious, basic. Old clientele.

We had a lovely spacious room with a balcony with a table & chairs, giving a breath-taking view over the sea & the coast beyond. We were impressed by the food - the breakfast was a buffet, with the usual hot stuff, plus toast, croissants, pastries, cereals, fruit & yoghurts. Dinner was a set 3 course meal with 3 or 4 quality options for each course, including vegetarian. Other guests told us they cater very well for special dietary requirements. All the staff we encountered were friendly & helpful. We'll definitely be back.

Good position near the seafront within easy walking distance from the marina and town centre. The staff were helpful and welcoming. Our room was clean and spacious with a sea view and the buffet breakfast had everything we needed. If we return to Exmouth we would stay here again

A great old lady in dreadful need of updating. Decor was old. The front of the building looks nothing like the pictures. The hot part of the breakfast was under cooked. This could be such a fantastic hotel if a little investment was made in it. Staff made the place-they were brilliant.

Excellent hotel in many ways & very welcoming to our 2 dogs. However the property itself needs some tlc on the exterior - a lot of moss & the white paint is peeling. It is still grand on the promenade & have to say the food is wonderful. Would definitely stay here again & recommend you try it.

This hotel is in an ideal position for walking to bars and restaurants. Breakfast was optional which was good. The toiletries was a “ one does all”( you need to provide your own hair conditioner if needed. A constructive criticism from myself would be maybe the pillows need changing they were flat .

Two night stay, very comfortable bed, staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was more than adequate, good choice of cold and hot food. Lovely grounds to sit and relax, bar area great!!

The position is excellent with nice terrace and gardens, with a view of the beach. The room was in the old original hotel on the top floor at the rear and was very hot even with the sash window open, we requested a fan but it got overlooked.

Really enjoyed the dining experience. Just a pity that we were not allocated the same table throughout our stay. Compliments to the chef.
