Great hotel. Great service. The Italian restaurant was terrible.
2.5
Our stay at Virgin Hotel Edinburgh far exceeded expectations. The staff truly made it a five-star experience. It was our first time staying at a Virgin property, and I had some concerns that, like many luxury hotel chains, it might feel generic or cookie-cutter—but I was pleasantly surprised. The decor was fun, tasteful, and had a youthful vibe that set it apart.
Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted, assisted with our luggage, and offered a glass of champagne. Thanks to our Hotels.com membership, we received a generous room upgrade. The room was spacious, incredibly comfortable, and featured stunning views of the Old Town. Also, very accommodating and dog friendly.
Overall, it was a 10/10 experience. Not only would I stay here again, but I would actively seek out Virgin Hotels at other destinations. A big thank you to the Virgin Hotel Edinburgh team for making our stay so memorable!

Amazing location and every minor detail was excellent. Food was also very good

The hotel and staff were wonderful! Great location! We parked our car and were conveniently able to walk everywhere!
1.5
The reception staff were awful and very rude.
2.0
The hotel is fantastic, great location and facilities.
The only issue we had was noise from a nearby nightclub from midnight through to 3am.
2.5
Such a great location, and a beautifully maintained hotel.
1.5
We booked a very expensive room with a terrace and what was supposed to be city view. We were not told however that the terraces were adjoining to 3 others and offered zero privacy nor was there a view unless we wanted to view the side of a building with scaffolding.
2.5
There’s no better location in the city. The service is incredible, restaurants are great, we loved our stay and will return.

We loved our stay at the Virgin Hotel in Edinburgh. The staff was very friendly and super helpful with recommendations. It was a pleasant change coming from London. Our room was comfortable and enough had space for our two night stay. I liked the way the bathroom was arranged and it wasn’t awkward that you walked through it to get to the bedroom. The location is absolutely perfect for seeing the sights of Old Edinburgh. Everything is walkable. We even walked from the train station although if we knew it was all uphill we may not have attempted it because it is exhausting pulling a suitcase. Unfortunately our visit was short so we didn’t utilize the restaurant or bar on site but the bar looked fun and there were other areas that were perfect for hanging out. There is also a surprising decent gym which I didn’t expect. Can’t recommend this hotel enough. I’m a lifetime titanium member at Marriott but this made me want to check out other Virgin hotels and we’ll definitely return to this hotel next trip to Edinburgh.

Fabulous hotel in a great location. Our room had a dressing room with separate rooms for toilet and shower and the most closet space I have ever seen in a hotel room! Wonderful breakfast that is worth the additional cost as it keeps you off the busy streets of the Royal Mile until later in the morning and includes a buffet and or menu items. Highly recommend.

Best service and location.

The staff was pleasant but customer service was non existent. We checked in before our rooms were ready, checked our bags and were told they’d call when the room was ready and have our luggage brought to the rooms. They did neither.
The vanity area was laid out well but the bedroom was small. I had a single room but if a couple were sharing the room, it would be tight quarters. The bed was comfortable, tho.
There were no amenities such as Qtips, shower cap, makeup remover pads.
The elevator was extremely slow the day we checked in, as only 1 was operating.
5 stars? I don’t think so.

We loved the location, the room, the breakfast option and the upper deck looking out over the city and castle. The room was very comfortable! The only issue was the view, we paid for a castle view room which we technically had, but the window was so small and kind of blocked so we couldn’t really see it. On the plus side we were just down the hall from the deck, which had a fantastic view of the castle!

Loved this property while moving our daughter into Uni. Such a beautifully designed space with great attention to detail. Very walkable to shops, restaurants, and the University of Edinburgh. We will be back!

Amazing property. Backs on to nightclub. Impossible to sleep. Completely ruined my trip.

Prime location and walkable to many different areas. Staff were great, rooms were clean and hotel was quiet. The roof top terrace provides a great view of the city.

Staying on Victoria street was a great highlight- everything was walkable without being too crowded like the Royal Mile. The staff were amazing. Victoria street can be loud at night so may not be ideal for light sleepers- we didn’t mind at all.

very good to castle and shopping .

Hands down my favorite hotel thus far. Best service. Richard Branson does it again with the most thoughtfully coordinated hotel room. It was beautiful. We’d have been happy to stay for weeks.

The hotel is beautiful and the front desk staff is very friendly and helpful! The bed was very comfy and the room was a great size. The hotel is also in the city center next to the Royal Mile and very close to the major sights.

Wonderful hotel in the heart of the city. Ecellent for Fringe and Film festival!

Amazing friendly staff. Great location. Cosy and comfy room with top bed quality. Clean, safe, comfortable. Perfect for a city center stay in Edinburgh 👍❤️

Very disappointed with room size and value for money. The standard king size bed chamber room is so teeny especially when you’re paying £450plus. The bathroom runs through the entrance hall of the room to optimise space. I would never stay here again despite incredible location at this price

If you are in Edinburgh for a short time and don’t mind pounding music at night, don’t plan to unpack your suitcase, this hotel might be for you. Otherwise, keep reading.
I had booked a Grand King Chamber Room. At first we were given a room, in which the entrance area doubled for a powder room and had a narrow closet with a one drawer. There was no space to open our two suitcases, no dresser.
We complained. I suspect that the room was not Grand Chamber King Room. Then the next day we were moved to a larger room.
The larger room had two narrow closets with a sink vanity between them. Oh, the ingenuity of the modern design! I’d make the architect stay in this room for three month as punishment.
The closets had a single drawer and did not have proper doors, but see through curtains.
In the room, the bed was comfortable and the bed linens were fine.
There was ONE night table with no drawers, so the surface got cluttered with our stuff.
There is no dresser or any kind, so there is no place to put your clothes. We only had one drawer each in the hallway closets.
The other side of the bed had a sofa attached. Since it doubled as a night table, it immediately got cluttered and couldn’t be used to sit on. Had we even tried to sit on it, the small table in front of it was positioned in such a way that was hard to squeeze in.
Also, the bed was so close to the wall on the night table side, that one has to be skinny to squeeze in. Otherwise, you’d have to dive in on the bed.

Great hotel, friendly people and nice food/drinks. Room was smart, tidy and clean although the TV wasn't working (didn't ask to get it fixed). A fantastic property and in a great location. highly recommend

Super hotel
5.0
The hotel is in an ideal location to visit the Edinburgh Festival, the Castle, and Old Town, and it is very stylish with an excellent buffet breakfast including baked beans, roasted tomatoes, omelettes haggis, smoked salmon, stewed berries, fruit, granola, cereal, croissants, bacon, etc. One thing to note is that many of the rooms face the alleyway and so look out on a stone wall, but our room on the alley was quiet, and many of the upper floor rooms have lovely views of the castle. Overall, we we very pleased with the hotel and hope to return.
