This hostel offered clean and comfortable accommodation. The unique decoration was a nice touch and its location good.

we took double room and there were mosquitos although the window was closed. A humidity in the room was high and we couldnt open the window.

From beginning to end, my time at Caruma Hostel Surf has been amazing. What was supposed to be a one-week stay turned into one month of great people and incredible surfing. Luis (the owner) and Joao (his son) are extremely friendly and accommodating. Within five minutes of arriving, Luis was teaching me how to surf using a skateboard like Mr. Miyagi from Karate Kid. No matter the time of day, Luis was always happy and friendly, which made the hostel's vibe great. Furthermore, because of the surf nature, the type of people staying here was great. Not once did I have a bad experience with any of the guests. Everyone was mature, friendly, and most importantly, respectful.| The hostel is about a 2-minute walk from Matosinhos beach as well. So for those looking to surf, you can't find much better than this. All in all, after staying in plenty of hostels over the past five years, I can honestly say that my experience with Caruma Hostel has been one of the best. And you can bet that it won't be my last time staying either.

Owner is an artist, stays in hostel , paints there and hangs it on walls. He gave me great tips on where to go next. And he didnt looked overwealmed by tourists like some staff is in busy places. He was nice to talk to.

FANTASTIC hostel situated 2 minutes from the beach. Hostel is very spacious and cleaned everyday. Able to cook with full kitchen facilities if you don't wish to eat out for every meal. Surf lessons are relaxed and very enjoyable. Luis is a great host and will make you feel right at home. Already planning a return visit later this year.

Can't describe how wonderful my stay was in this hostel. Far and away the best hostel I've ever been at. The caretaker Luis, makes his place feel so cozy, BEAUTIFUL, clean, secure and organized. Everything was perfect, I felt home, Luis is so welcoming and helpful. The other guests felt also like family, they were all so respectful and collaborative. The building is so new, very good taste, owns an unique style, looks like an art gallery, and the beds are very comfortable.I will come back someday for sure. Thank you Caruma Surf Hostel for this memorable experience.

Impossible to point out something, didn't exist.

The ambience is delightful - an open plan communal area with roaring wood burner. A recently refitted interior in a quiet back street well-situated for Mini Preço supermarket (across the road and through their car park).

Noise travels through the communal area and into the adjoining dormitories, thanks to an unusual door design. Apparently, there is no respect for silent hours. At 12.30am, I had to ask the volunteer/staff member and several guests to lower their voices. They didn’t but finally went to bed at 1am. The kitchen was a bit of a mess when I got up in the morning too. Otherwise a 10.
